I’m a big fan of self serve froyo — I like to mix and match my flavours and add liberal amounts of toppings. So, I was super excited to stumble across this self serve gelateria close to the Rialto Bridge The shop is shiny and modern, especially in such a historic town as Venice. The staff are helpful and offer tasting of the gelato if you’re not sure which flavour to choose. They haven’t quite figured out using small sample cups yet, so you get a generous helping of samples They had 12 flavours on offer, a mixture of creamy gelatos and fruity sorbets. Both were amazing, especially considering they came out of machines. My fear that they’d taste like soft scoop ice cream proved unfounded. I chose a refreshing zingy tangerine sorbet and the girlfriend went for decadently luxurious vanilla They offer paper cups in 2 sizes as well as waffle cones and cups To finish off your creation, they offer a wide mix of sweet toppings, sauces and preserved fruit. Some fresh fruit might be a good addition for them to consider Payment is by weight. For our full small bowl, we paid 3.95 Euros

Self-serve Gelato shop near Ponte Rialto. I was intrigued by its modern and sleek décor. It’s like the decked-out cousin of the typical self-serve froyo places in the US. However the Gelato itself was just average by Italian standard. You are in Italy after all. Go to a real gelato place where they scoop and make your cone behind the counter.

Amazing place. The only self-serve geletaria I found in Italy, but it’s the only one I’d ever need. I wish there was a place like this in the states. There were tons of flavors and even more toppings. They even had a whipped cream dispenser that was to die for. The milk flavor was especially good. I didn’t care for the berry syrup(?) that I tried but my boyfriend was fond of it. The décor was really cool, everything in the store was white and everything added to the atmosphere of the store. Very clean and the employees were very nice and both spoke some english. Reasonable prices, about what I’d expect to pay a self-serve frozen yogurt place in America. Both my boyfriend’s and my gelato was around € 7. If I could take any piece of Italy home with me, it would be this geletaria.
