Gelato Fantasy

I tried 5 gelato places in Venice today, and 3 yesterday, and this is my FAVORITE by far!
Of course, I’m feeling absolutely horrible after that much gelato in 2 days, but this was the place that made it all worth it.
You immediately notice when looking that their gelato is more interesting than the standard touristy Italian gelato, and the flavors are all topped or mixed with something to look beautiful in presentation.
The cheesecake flavor was incredible! I’m going back tomorrow for another scoop of that and to try two more new flavors. The Sacher was delicious as well, and so was the Baileys flavor. Portion sizes were very generous as well!
Gelato in Italy is almost always incredible, but also starts to seem interchangeable, like if you pass one place you can just go to the next… but THIS is the place that has that uniqueness to make you want to return!
Update after trip #5: Strawberry (fragola) is now my new favorite — as I’ve officially tried every single flavor. You can taste little bits of strawberry in it, and it’s easily the best ice cream or gelato I’ve ever had.
Cheesecake now takes 2^nd place, and Sacher 3^rd.

While reasonably priced, the gelato didn’t have a natural taste to it the way it does from other places. We’re obviously no experts in gelato, unless you count the 7 times we’ve had it over our last 7 days in Italy, but could definitely tell the difference. They do however give a lot of gelato for the price.

Best gelato I had the entire time I was in Europe. The pistachio and stracciatella are to die for! You must stop here if in Venice!

Eh, I had gelato pretty much every day in Italy and this was just okay. I could have skipped it. Then again, Venice is not known for their gelato like Florence is! It was pricier than most at 3 Euros (usually gelato ranges from 1.50 euros to 2.60 euros). They do give you a lot and the cone is good, but I cant say much for the flavor.

Tolles Eisgeschäft direkt beim San Marco. Gerne jederzeit wieder. Sehr viele Eissorten und trotz vieler Leute war die Bedienung nett, freundlich und geduldig. Die Portionen sind besonders groß, ich sah selten so große Eiskugeln!

Located right by our hotel, we stopped by here a few times while In Venice. While the flavors are nothing phenomenal, they are all good and you get large proportions for what you’re paying. The staff is very nice and accommodating (even when I asked to pay for a 3 euro bill with my credit card). The cheesecake was my personal favorite, and they really do stack your cup high (it’s something like 1.5x as much volume as other comparable gelaterias). I remember getting two large scoops for 3 euro, so as far as bang for your buck, Gelato Fantasy is probably your best bet.

Great location, very nice staff. Loved the lemon but the mango was too creamy and not flavorful enough for me. Chocolate very good also

The gelato here was incredible, especially the cheesecake gelato. I ate here between virtually every meal, it got to where I went here so often, the person working would just laugh when she saw me.

Recommended to us by a local Venetian (our AirBnB host), this place is one of the best gelato spots around. I had the limon/​limoncello (so refreshing) and strawberry flavors, but my fiancé had the Nutella and pistachio flavors so I tried those, too! So delicious!

As I told myself to not eat gelato on my last day in Venice because I was scared that I was gaining so much weight from eating gelato almost every day.
Then as my husband and I was exploring the small inside streets we stumbled upon fantasy Gelato. There was a bunch of folks hovering the store trying to order. So being a curious bee I peeked at their flavors. Then BAM 2 scoops please!
They had cheesecake flavor which is one I didn’t see at other gelato stores and I couldn’t resist myself.
Ordered:
*cheesecake– delish! Seriously it was like heaven!
*cherry-​seems to be a favorite since many ppl were ordering this. It was definitely yummy in my tummy. The cherry wasn’t too sweet.
*coffee-​had just the right amount of coffee flavor and wasn’t bitter.
I totally didn’t regret stumbling upon fantasy gelato. It was super cheap compared to other gelato places I’ve tried in Italy. And they are very generous with the portion size so I got more bang for my euro bucks! :) and they were definitely more patient and nicer than other gelato places. 2 thumbs up!!! This Unilocaler highly recommends you to come here!

*there’s some flavors that are not in their display case. So you can ask for it and they’ll give you a sample.

Great service and gelato, but doesn’t taste any different from the 650 other gelato stands littered throughout Venice. If you want to try a different and natural gelato, try Grom. You’ll love it, too!

I feel like this place got overhyped. The gelato is prettty good but I’m not sure it’s considered amazing. I had the hazelnut and the strawberry flavour. The hazelnut was delicious but I felt the strawberry flavour could’ve been stronger.
It was also really frustrating finding this place because the Unilocal and google map led me to an alleyway near some hotel which was nowhere close to where it is. It’s only a 4 min walk or so from St Marks square. The other gelato place I’d recommend is Grom which I also reviewed on Unilocal

Do not waste your time eating gelato anywhere else in Venice. This is the spot where you need and have to go when you’re in Venice. I tried gelato at 5 other places and this is definitely the spot. I had Mint Chocolate Chip and Vanilla and it was superb… I’m dreaming on this place now.

Mmmmmmmm… I had gelato every day! The strawberry is easily my favorite, so fresh!

Yumm dark chocolate. If an average gelato is what you are looking for then this is the place. It was hot, there was no AC and this place was an oasis of deliciousness.

This place was a five minute walk from our hotel and one of the best homemade gelato places that I found in Venice. The prices are reasonable and they don’t skimp on the portions! I tried several flavors and one of my favorite ones was the nutella. Yum! Definitely try this place out if you’re ever in Venice!
