We strolled into Majer early on a Saturday. Nothing else on Via Garibaldi was open – the farmers market wasn’t even set up yet. We were glad to get some breakfast before heading out on our last day in Venice. We were welcomed by a cheerful woman who patiently waited on us as we perused Majer’s food display case. We ordered two cappuccinos, milk for the kids, and some croissants, which including an almond one and multigrain one, both of which were delicious. Although the price was a bit steeper since we decided to sit down to enjoy our meal we didn’t want to rush. Walking around Venice, we walked by several other Majer cafes(turns out if is a Venetian chain). I had to stop myself from going in and getting some more treats because I enjoyed our breakfast pastries so much. If you find yourself by a Majer do duck in and pick up a treat – it will be delicious!

During my first months in Venezia, I’ve tried almost every pasticceria in the city, but I don’t think any was as wonderful as Pasticceria Majer. True, every shop makes the same things, but the courtesy I was given for having an at-the-time broken Italian language barrier made a difference to why I enjoy Majer so much. You will find anything from cannoli(my fav!), sfogliatelle, chocolate croissants, fruit tarts, zeppole, pevarini, meringues, and much more. Depending on location, the prices do differ from touristy to residential areas. The cannoli is truly my fav: real italian ricotta e mascarpone con cioccolato e frutta candita. Every Saturday I purchased 3 cannoli, and I didn’t regret a thing x

I love the Majer chain in Venice. Their shops are clean, bright and welcoming: easy to access for tourists, but clearly not designed for tourists. This is where locals come to eat and drink. Food is excellent cakey sandwichey stuff, with some salads thrown in. Prices are very reasonable. Very reliable. For fun, you can look up a mouthwatering Majer video on YouTube. Enjoy.
