This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel so we thought why not try it. When we walked in the waiter asked if we had reservations… I said no and he sat us down anyways. I was a bit confused because there were two empty tables. The one thing I’ve learned about Europe is that there is no complimentary water. I guess I am use to the American way. Even when we are in a drought we have free water with our meal. The bread on the table was probably left out for awhile because it was stale and hard. But since we were hungry we just ate it with balsamic and olive oil. I ordered the pasta with scampi and zucchini. The zucchini was cut into very very small pieces. I wished they added more. The pasta was actually nicely seasoned so I enjoyed it. My husband ordered the fish plate which had fish, calamari and shrimp. It also came with a plate of grilled eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers and tomatoes. OR you can get fries or salad. I had my zucchini fix with my husband’s veggie plate. Overall, I thought this place was ok. The food wasn’t worth the amount. We have two more nights here so hopefully we will run into a good one.

On our first night we were looking for a decent restaurant near the hotel. Two immediately came into view, but which one do we choose. Looking at how many tables were filled, the choice was obvious. One was empty, why? They found a table for us immediately. The next evening, we were meeting friends to celebrate mine and our friends birthday. We decided to go back forgetting it was weekend and good restaurants were fully booked, it was also raining so no seating outside. However, they found us a table for four on the proviso we were finished by 9.00. No problem, it gave us two hours. At 8.30, the waiter came over and told us there was no hurry as they had managed to fit their other diners elsewhere. Fantastic service. Loved the restaurant, loved the food and, of course, the service is fantastic. Pricewise, very reasonable and they don’t rip you off on the price of wine. TIP their house wine takes some beating.

We use Unilocal mainly to read reviews with much successes. We hardly ever post reviews up until now. I felt compelled to write a quick review of this restaurant as there were only 2 reviews which rated them very highly. This restaurant is a tourist trap. Great location on the main road which is the only thing going for it. Our experience here was ok at best. The service was ok, at times overbearing. They attempt to «up sell» you on everything. If you ask for glass of wine, they will try talking you into a bottle. That type of «up sell». This is a solid 3 star restaurant. Food was average, prices are expensive and the waiter staff are constantly selling something more than you want. If you are tired, hungry and have no place to go, then try this restaurant. If you are looking for a quality Venetian restaurant, then I would go elsewhere.

We were in Venice three nights, three different restaurants for dinner. This was the best. We only had the 1st course and both us agreed that our pasta selections were wonderful. The prices were good and the atmosphere very nice. There is a gelato shop just a. short walk to finish a perfect meal. Rich and Marilynn, Mundelein, IL

How is this restaurant not previously reviewed?! It’s on a main street in Venice just two vaporetto stops past the Rialto bridge(@ the Ca’ D’oro stop) but evidently off the primary tourist routes. We came to this ‘hood in search of cichetti(Italian tapas) and did find a great place called Osteria ai Promessi Sposi but needed a place to sit down with toddler and two grandmas in tow. So we picked Vecio Bragosso and am glad we did! First we asked for a table to sit outside when no tables were available and the congenial waiters said«Wait a second.» They simply walked inside the resto, grabbed a four top, and placed it outside for us with a high chair to boot. So nice. We then ordered pappardelle with scallops and porcinis which was delicious. The tagliatelle with shrimp and zucchini was great too. We ordered plain ravioli for our two year old and they brought the sauce on the side for us. Very accommodating. The food gets a solid rating– certainly above average for touristy Venice and the prices are better than any resto in the Piazza San Marco gauntlet. But the service was wonderful. Come give them a try!
