all i can say is… please don’t go!!! Unfortunately Unilocal wouldn’t let me post just the first line itself. We stayed at Danieli, who recommended this place. I’m only wondering why?

I don’t know who would give this restaurant one star! Obviously no one who knows about fine dining. If you want pizza and panini this is not the place for you! Venetian style seafood restaurant with excellent service and food. Recommended by our hotel the Aqua Palace this trattoria was just around the corner. At the front is a small bar which we were led through to get to the Fine dining restaurant. Upon seeing an empty bar we had misgivings before being brought through to a packed main dining room. The streets were empty at 9pm in Winter but the room was full of people and quite warm. The service could not have been better and every course was a joy. We ordered dessert and then the wrong one came. No it was not a mistake but the soufflé(which I wanted and took 45 mins) but compliments of the chef! Aperitifs, entrée, main and desert + wine was approx 150 € a head. Totally worth every cent. If you’re here for a special occasion or on holiday i would highly recommend it as a special treat. We will definitely come again next time we are in Venezia

The food was good but they rip you off. They put $ 12 for the fish on the menu. When the bill came, it was 112. Their explanation was that they charge per 100 grams and they gave us 800 grams without asking. They did not specify how many grams the fish was and they did not give any advanced warning of this. When I order a steak, the menu usually says what the steak costs; not what each bite costs. This is a trap and it is theft. Save your money and eat somewhere where you are deceived and cheated

Our hotel recommended this restaurant too. Service was fine but the food was awful and expensive. The shrimp scampi was mushy and $ 37 Euros. We don’t mind paying if the food was good but this looked and tasted lie it was put trough a food processor. They gave us what I thought was complimentary champagne since we did not order it but they charged us $ 5 Euros per glass. I just read another review, maybe they didn’t charge for the champagne maybe the $ 5 Euros per person was a cover charge. We were so disgusted we didn’t bother to ask. The shrimp, spider crab, and mantis shrimps appetizer was not that good either. If you want good mantis shrimp, go to Hong Kong. Do not go here, this is the worst review I have ever written for food. Another reviewer commented that she witnessed bad service to Asians. We are Chinese but did not feel discriminated in terms of service.

We had not previously heard of Do Forni, but as we walked past decided to stop in for dinner. The dinner was very rushed, and the food was just okay. After dinner, my husband and I ordered a cappuccino. Half way through my drink, I almost swallowed a dead bug(not sure what it was, a cockroach of some sort). I placed the bug on the table, and called the waiter over to tell him what had happened. The waiter took one look at what happened, turned to the table next to us, said something in Italian, and they all looked at me and had a good laugh. You might say I did not understand, and should not assume they were making fun of me. However, 3 tables all looked my direction and laughed at this exact time. I know exactly what was happening. I told the waiter again what happened, and my husband asked for the manager. The manager quickly picked up the bug, and tried to apologize. I only wanted an apology from the rude waiter. We were offered the meal for free, but to me that was not the issue. I was too upset by how the waiter treated me. I quickly took money out, put it on the table, and left. I noticed the manager quickly put the 100 euros in his pocket. Do not eat at this establishment. If you’re lucky enough to not get a dead bug in your coffee or food, the«just okay» food is not worth the high prices or the poor service.

Amazing Food, great seafood as well as pasta. Staff was bland and slow but otherwise had a great time and great wine! If you like seafood and don’t mind slow service, try this place out

Excelente, espectacular. Volvería otra vez. Todo lo que pedimos estuvo delicioso, cenamos centolla, España de bacalao, pasta en salsa mero y la atención de Pepe fue excelente

Servers welcoming and knowledgable though a bit old school formal which is odd for such a touristy area where folks wander in. Food is good but prices are very high and not sure food warrants the price. Asparagus with egg and cheese was great as was tortellini soup but $ 25 for a bowl of it is absurd. Ravioli with spinach looks and smells super and tastes incredibly fresh. T-bone is delicious and large portion shared by two. Sole meunière is excellent and succulent. Should of been filleted better as there are many bones. Free wifi was a good thing to have! Good meal but not sure it warrants the bill.

Do not bother. Rude service and average food. Way over priced at 200 Euros and that was sharing a fish. Sadly disappointed after being recommended by concierge. Crying in Venice.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at the Gritti Palace. The shrimp and asparagus pasta is exceptional. Please believe us: it’s not a normal pasta dish! You need to have it. You need to eat it. If you’re there, treat yo’ self.

Disgusting and overpriced. Dry veil, unbearable sea bass and 130 euros(including the mandatory cover change and 12% service.)

After being greeted by a very friendly staff standing outside the restaurant, we sat down, asked for their free wifi, then started reading reviews online. Most of them are terrible, and we almost left the table but decided to stay. The food wasn’t as bad as expected. In fact, it was pretty good. It may be on the expensive side, but quality wise it’s not bad. The service was decent as well, they gave us a complimentary lobster dish after our appetizers because our main course was late. Pretty good experience overall.

Tourists beware!!! Do Forni was recommended to us from our hotel’s concierge. We made a reservation and set out with the mindset that our final dinner in Venice(and Europe) was going to be memorable. Service started out impeccably! We were welcomed with a complimentary flute of champagne and a small appetizer. I started with the lasagna and hubby had some sort of pasta with asparagus. Our food came. Mine looked awful but tasted good. On to the secondi… We decided to share something with the thought that if we were still hungry afterward, we’d order more. We weren’t being cheap — just don’t like to waste food or feel super full after a meal. On top of ordering our first courses, we also ordered a bottle of moderately expensive wine. Our host came by and we attempted to order… and were basically told we couldn’t have what we wanted. OK. So we perused the menu a while longer and found a fresh fish dish that sounded amazing. Once again our host came by and tried to turn us off of sharing, stating that the fish would be over 125 euros! WTF? I can do math and I know he was bullshitting us. Obviously he was pissed that we were sharing and wanted to teach us a lesson. An Asian family arrived at the table next to us. The host was incredibly rude to them. No welcome champagne. Very terse service. Interesting to watch because I don’t witness blatant racism very often and it was a bit shocking to see the difference in the way people were treated. If I were them I would have left(and wrote it up on Unilocal!). At this point we just wanted to go. Our host refused to come back to our table. I asked to get the bill from another server. No such luck. Finally after it seemed as though we were just going to leave, we finally got the bill. Huge service fee. Don’t go here. The service is terrible and the host is a jerk. A very disappointing last dinner… memorable as I had wished but only because it left such a bad taste in my mouth.

Food was ok but not worth the very high prices, which do not include a 5 euro per person cover charge or a 12% service charge. We got the vermicelli in garlic and oil, and the spaghetti with clams. The décor was nice and rustic, the restaurant tables were very tight and crowded.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel’s reception desk. We managed to find it and were seated right away for lunch. Food was very good, my husband and I shared a recommendation from the waiter which was a selection of four different types of fish and shrimp which were all delicious, we shared a salad, I had a dessert that was flambeed I can’t remember the name of the liqueur but when I tasted it; it was still very strong. Overall all the food we had was excellent and the service was very good as well. The prices on the other hand were really high we ended up spending around 170.00 euros for lunch for two. We didn’t have wine with our meal.

Great food and excellent location, service was a big disappointment. We arrived without reservation but since it is a big restaurant they managed to accommodate us very promptly. The appetizer and primo piati were superb… Unfortunately they forgot the secondi piati and brought it long(25 minutes) after we finished the primo. They charged 12% service in the tab as they probably suspected we were rather disappointed and not vey keen on tipping. Would skip it for other friendlier equally good choices in the area.

Amazing experience in Venice. Great staff, very friendly. We ordered this seafood plate for two. I don’t remember the name, but it included lobster, shrimp and grilled fish. Also ordered lasagna for our 4 year old which was excellent. The sauce was soo soo good and it was the recommended dish by the waiter, so had to go with it. It’s considered one of the best in Venice so definitely check it out. Great atmosphere. It’s good for walk in, but if you plan ahead, definitely make reservations and dress to impress. They have a separate area for reservations.

We asked a tour guide for a «last day in Venice tradional blowout meal» and she sent us here. We were not disappointed. The fresh fish selection is pretty amazing and fish flopping on the ice in the dining room can be a bit disquieting. We had a soup, pasta, and two main dishes and two desserts from the extensive menu. Everything was quite nicely prepared traditional Italian grilled. Extensive wine list. A bit pricy but everything in Venice is.
