I always wonder when a hotel wants all their money up front. This whole Venice thing is a scam. 60 € for a taxi, 280 € for a lousy dinner, 40 € to park my car each night. Over 1000 €‘for two nights in a small room that was cold all night. This place is on an island. I had much better service, food, and rooms in Rome and Florence. I live in Venice, ca. I could have had a much better experience for less than this place. I feel they hate Americans and try to squeeze every dime out of you. Be smart. Just come here for they day. Save your hard earned money. By the time I am done with this 2 day trip, I will have almost 3,000 into a crap hole with a view. That smells bad and has no heat.

This is a nice hotel with a fabulous location. It is away from the crowds. It is close to the sites. It is right up the path from the Guggenheim museum. There are a lot of unique shops in the neighborhood. I like the shop with the locally made silk lamps and silk scarves. It is worth a visit to sit and have a cocktail with a view. The hotel is sweet to stay in too. It would be a 5-star spot but they make it difficult and expensive to sign on the wifi.

Now THIS is the life. Located in the Dorsoduro district, Centurion Palace was worth every penny we paid. We reserved two nights in a double deluxe room(a bit more spacious than their deluxe) and shoulder season still rang in at around $ 300/night. The hotel itself is beautiful and amenities can’t be beat: complimentary transportation to St. Mark’s square at night on their private water taxi, turn down service, fine toiletries that do NOT dry your skin(you even get an «intimate wash»!), fluffy Italian Ferrara bathrobe and slippers, beautiful and modern decorated rooms, gilded bathrooms with a rain fall shower head. The bed was super comfy and the extra pillows were much appreciated! The breakfast spread is ridiculously luxurious: hot food, lox, cheeses and salumi, actual FRESH fruit(not just from the can!) and a smashing view of the Grand Canal. It was chilly out so the patio area was closed. Oh, did I mention the mimosas? Si, un altro, per fevore! A hotel of this caliber comes with professional, flawless service. After our guy checked us in, he personally escorted us to our rooms, explained how the central control and the safe worked, etc. The vaporetto Line 1 stop is a short walk from the hotel which leads you to their private courtyard. The view of the dome of Santa Maria della Salute is just a peaceful sight to behold from our 3rd floor room. I’m in love with this place and can’t wait to return again.

Beautiful, beautiful hotel. Hotel star ratings in Venice are supposedly iffy. This place claims to be 5, and it makes a good case. Did I mention the beauty? The rooms are nice, large, modern, and luxurious. Soaking tub, walk in rainfall shower, and a tiny balcony looking over the inner courtyard awaited us. Very convenient location to the vaporetto. If you are a walker, it is a bit of a hike to St. Mark’s because you have to backtrack a ways to get to the nearest bridge over the Grand Canal. You can also purchase direct private transportation to /from the airport through them. The breakfast buffet is quite good, and the dining area affords you great views of the Grand Canal. If you sit in the outdoor area mind your lox, or you will have a split second chance to pet a seagull(I was unsuccessful, and made fishless). A couple small downers. We had arrived via overnight train from Rome at 5:30 am, so needless to say we were up for a nap later. By the way, walking across Venice at dawn is one of the best decisions you can make. It is beautifully desolate, a polar opposite of the Disneyland it becomes a few hours later. Anyway, they could not check us in early, and actually ended up being 15 minutes late. It was extremely irritating in the moment. The hour or so we spent waiting exposed us to their awful lounge menu. It was terrible even though I was ridiculously hungry. You also get to pay a lot for it. Wifi is also not free. Seriously? Don’t get me wrong though, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. The rooms, building, and buffet are worth it.
