Really solid food. We had great black ink quid pasta, grilled scampi(the very best), clams in butter and white wine sauce, and eggplants. We wanted a second serving of the scampi but they ran out. Will come back to this place if we ever return to Venice. We did find a hair on the grilled eggplants, hence minus one star.

Le cadre est très sympa, les plats savoureux, les serveurs(que des hommes) plutôt sympas. En plein mois de Décembre déjà une petite file d’attente pour manger donc je n’imagine pas en haute saison !

This was our best meal in Venice. Went there for lunch. There were gondola drivers there so it must be authentic, reasonably priced and good. It was. All that. Had pumpkin risotto and my son had gnocchi with meat sauce. Both were great! Just ask for the house wine!

We had a great experience here. The waitstaff was pleasant and we had about a 15 minute wait, so we were offered a small glass of wine and an appetizer on the house while we waited. The food was very good, and overall the dining experience was one of the best on our trip.

Pretty good squid ink pasta! Doesn’t look good but tasted delicious and fresh. The seafood spaghetti was really good too! Waiter was very friendly and funny. He was great

Rivetta was recommended to us by some gondoliers in Venice. We ate there a few years ago and returned to another great meal on our visit this week. The pastas are superb! Fish is so fresh and well seasoned. The service is energetic and friendly. We can’t wait to return again; everything we ate was excellent!

This was our last dinner in Venice and well worth the wait. We had no reservations the evening before and there was a line out the door. In lieu of waiting, we made a reservation for the following evening. The food was FRESH. We shared a salad to start. My husband had the pasta bolognese and was quite happy(as he is somewhat of a bolognese snob) and I had the fish pasta. Truly amazing. We also ordered the sea bass which was deboned table side(very entertaining). My husband thought we ordered too much food. But we were pleasantly full and ate everything. I would gladly recommend this restaurant. It was bustling but cozy and our waiter was delightful! We took all his recommendations and were very satisfied.

Coming into Venice, I had 1 main criteria for food — — no tourist traps. This is met my criteria. Before going, know that there is not only a cover charge, but also an additional 12% service charge — — I noticed that this caught people by surprise and turned what would’ve been a pleasant meal into a disappointing affair. Also, the portions were small. Moving onto the food, for 2 people, we ordered grilled monkfish, fried calamari, and the cuttlefish pasta. The monkfish was very chewy and lightly flavored. While fresh, it was nothing special because it tasted like the lemon i squeezed on it. The calamari, frankly, was merely average, but i suppose it is hard to really make calamari stand out. Now, the cuttlefish pasta was terrific! The pasta, I was told, is handmade, and it had great chewiness. The ink sauce was was heavier and more flavorful than other one’s I have tried. I am not sure, if given another opportunity, whether I would return. However, this should still be better than the average place in Venice.

Food is absolutely good! But the service fee and table fee are 9 euro for two people totally. That is unreasonable as it don’t value that much :(especially the environment is just so so.

Tasty food, ok service, very over-crowded, I was recommended by my gondolier.(After I read other reviews I also suspect they are directing people there for an incentive) The place was very crowded. Décor is ho-hum(some might call it charming but I would say dated) We made a reservation but waited 30 minutes. The primi portion sizes were much smaller than other locations, however they were all very tasty. I wouldn’t go back, there are better options available. I do not feel like I had good value for my money, and feel like the restaurant misrepresented itself.

I followed Unilocal recommendation and found this restaurant, food was nice no doubt about it. Staff was nice. Just keep in mind that you have a 12%service fee.

Right by the canal, and some of the better food found in the San Marco area, but a bit too noticeably touristy. Portions were small and the zucchini was a bit mushy, but good for groups and very friendly staff.

We loved this place. The food was great — fresh seafood and handmade pasta. The service was incredible, with the waiter bringing out tastes from the kitchen for us. We had a nice view of the canal through the window. One of our best meals in Venice.

I’m not sure why there are several low ratings from other Unilocalers because we thought the food was excellent. We came here on our last night in Venice and I wish we had discovered it earlier because we might have eaten here a couple of times. We didn’t have a full meal at Alla Rivetta as we’d had several small eats throughout the day, but we enjoyed several very good appetizers here. I’m not a huge seafood person but I have to say that I really enjoyed the grilled scampi and calamari here. Maybe the best calamari I’ve ever had anywhere. We came on a weekday evening at 9:30pm and were seated immediately. We were seated next to other Americans who had come in for both lunch and dinner that day and said that there was a wait both times. I’d say that a wait would be worth it here though.

Modestly hidden among a number of loud restaurants begging you to enter — we instead visited this small, cozy dinner place where seating is tight as you share tables with other guests. With an elder Italian gentleman taking orders and racing about speaking the language you feel escorted back in time thinking this may be something special. Unfortunately — not so. The food for the most part — average. Sections ordered included Veal Marsala in a white wine sauce. Two pieces of veal with a separate order of fried vegetables which were closer to french fries. The Sea Bass was fresh but plain and uneventful. The fresh pasta Ravioli — again — passable but nothing more. The house red was quite good and enjoyed. But with expectations high we left having a meal that was quickly forgotten.

Here’s the inside scoop that I learned; The«locals» you see that eats here… Which are pretty much only some of the gondoliers in Venice, makes you think it’s a good sign… Guilty myself at first too. But some of the gondoliers eat here only because they get a super discounted meal charge. Trattoria Rivetta is smart, doing that so the gondoliers comes and eat, that way the tourists feel it is a very local Italian joint. Im sure they also work with those certain gondoliers to always recommend the tourist they’re rowing their boats for to come here. There’s really no legit Venetian patrons in here as I realized myself and my great gondolier that I had, told me it all and said he would never eat in there. Moving on to my experience; It’s crowded as hell in here, and the wait might be quiet some time. This restaurant really caterers around tourists. Their menu is in about 6 different languages from Italian, to Spanish, to English/Dutch, Chinese-Korean-Japanese and even Russian. That’s a good and bad thing I guess. DONTBESCAREDTOOPENYOURMOUTHIFYOUSEESOMANYOTHERSEATSAVAILABLE. They seat all the tourist on the same two tables even when there is soo many tables available in the back, one lady even noticed it and flipped out. So yes, me and my bf was one of the ones who didn’t open their mouth and shares tables among other tourists, which was a little crammy but I didn’t mind too much. The service here is generally pretty pro, they’re fast and use to all of this. But one of the waiter was very slow, grumpy, rude and not too bright. The Russian guy next to me was very annoyed by him. Food; WASOK. Nothing spectacular, special or amazing in anyway honestly. It’s overhyped for sure. Portions were decent, some were pretty big. Price was OK as well. Not the best bang for the buck but not too hefty. Fish Lasagna — first time having lasagna like this, or fish lasagna at all. It was a nice thick white creamy base sauce to it, no red tomato sauce at all. Very interesting and I did enjoy it. There was nice chunks of shrimp, scallop and fish in the lasagna. Cuttlefish with cuttlefish ink and polenta — The cuttlefish with the ink is a pretty strong fishy and inky taste to it compared to squid ink I usually have. Please note the polenta is more of a pâté and not a creamy polenta, which I did not like at all. Had no taste to it anyways, it was really like a plain cornmeal bread. Beware; your lips, teeth and tongue will be really stained black. So don’t smile. Venetian-style Calf’s Liver — This dish was DROWNEDINOIL. I don’t eat liver, it’s too irony for me… I took a bite and it still didn’t change my mind. It was cooked with some good flavors though, my boyfriend finished this dish of his away. I wouldn’t visit this place if I’m ever in Venice again. There’s so much other unique superb places to eat in Venice.

The only reason why I took out a star is because the waiter came to our table literally 4 times every two minutes asking if we were ready to order. After the fourth time and we said no, he let out this really loud annoyed groan. Anyways, the food was great. I got the seafood lasagna and the portion was a bit small but there was a lot of seafood in it. The bread is good and unlimited. Another letdown was that not only do you have to pay the service fee, but there is an additional 12% charge

Love this place! The first time we came here, the place was closed. On our last night there, we tried it once more and it was crowded! They gave us free samples of sangria while we waited and the food was excellent. One of the waiters was hilarious. He sang in between, cracking jokes as he did his job. Definitely kept all his customers entertained. The only con was that we had to share our table with strangers since the place was really small.

Our last night in Italy and we had a wonderful meal here. We could tell by the multilingual menu that they serve to tourists but this was not a tourist trap. Sat next to the window so we could hear the go gondoliers going by. The food was excellent and the house wine was pretty good. We ordered the eggplant, tomato, anchovy appetizer and it was amazing. We also tried a roasted tomato stuffed with a meatball. Both were so good! For dinner, I had the egg noodles with crab while my husband had the steak with peppercorn sauce. The steak was very tender and melted in your mouth. The crab pasta was packed with real crab meat. Dessert was a must, every table around us ordered the tiramisu so we also did the same. Yum! The prices were reasonable and we really enjoyed the service. If we ever come back to Venice, we would definitely be back.
