Loved it. We stayed right across the street at Hotel Smeraldo. Had a liter of house red for $ 14 euros, mozzarella and ham appetizer and pasta dishes for dinner. Lovely and easy and didn’t spend a fortune.

This place was kind of a disappointment. My friend ordered the steak and I ordered the lamb. Neither were cooked evenly and both had so much fat on it that we ate less than half of what was brought to us. I recommend giving this place a pass and finding something better.

We loved this place! Great, lively neighborhood too! Not very big, but we’re able to get a table as a walk in. Great service! Pasta was excellent and the fillet Was cooked exactly the way I ordered it. Great wine selection!

Found this place in an alley way off the main street. Greeted by an enthusiastic server who let us stash our luggage we were hauling around nearby the table we were seated at. Bathrooms are clean. When ordering two glasses of wine the server suggested a bottle of the house wine instead for the same price. Ordered pasta with clams were the noodles(13 euros) were cooked to perfection. Lasagna(10 euros) was also delicious as well. Check in on Unilocal for complimentary tiramisu and a shot of lemony vodka! Definitely would recommend coming here for great service and food.

Amazing food with great prices! I originally looked up a few places on tripadvisor and this came up as one of them. Later on, I asked our Vatican tour guide for restaurant recommendations and this one came up again. That was the icing on the cake that helped us make our decision to come here; especially since we ended up at a tourist trap the night before. Regardless, the food was amazing!!! Some of the best pasta I’ve ever had in my life. In addition, they have prix fixed course menu options: vegetarian, meat, and seafood. I HIGHLYRECOMMEND doing one of those. They each come with first, second, third course, dessert, and a glass of wine. All of my dishes were delicious. By the end, I left so satisfied and happy. If you’re in Rome, I HIGHLYHIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Every where else is such a tourist trap and it sucks to feel like you’re being taken advantage of at every other restaurant. Trattoria moderna was a refreshing, and delicious change. Go go go!

An amazing deal for some of the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten(at the price offered). I’ve had some of the highest quality Italian food in the world, so believe me when I say that this place is a worthy location to eat at. Go! Go many times! Keep going!

Been waiting all day to have dinner here because we heard so much good things about this place. First off, we walk in and the atmosphere is not welcoming(I think this place is one of those who do not want tourist to come enjoy their food). We have a seat and the menu is half in scribbles and half a real menu. We asked that if it can be clarified and the lady was very annoyed that she had to explain it. We wanted to order a couple of things off the menu but they were out, so I had to reconsider not just once but twice. At this point I’m not sure what I want to eat so I get a mixed salad as a starter, my boyfriend gets the penne with muscles and sauce, it sounded delicious. Food comes out, my salad is completely drenched with oil to the point I can see it puddle at the bottom and my salad is completely dead because of it. So I try to make the best of it and ask for balsamic vinegar, she hands me a new bottle of some creamy balsamic vinegar and the bottle itself was also covered in oil. My hands after were so oily just holding the bottle I couldn’t even rip off the plastic seal, let alone open it. My boyfriends penne did not come out al dente, it came out practically raw. Not only that, it was saltier than the Pacific Ocean and you would need to drink a gallon of water to hydrate yourself again. And there was cheese drizzled on the pasta and muscles, who eats a seafood dish with cheese?! As much as I wanted the lasagna in meat sauce, the salad and pasta had disappointed me so much. If you want good service and good food, this is not the place to be. Let me remind you that this whole time, they did not come around once to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. We left the meal ¾ full and wanted to flip the table.

This is a great«little» restaurant with good service, an adventurous menu and awesome food. Our lunch there was by far the best we have had in Rome and the prices are very reasonable too. Well worth a try! We had the steak with soy sauce and salmon with orange as antipasti and both were amazing, for mains we had the duck and fillet. Both dishes again very impressive and exceptionally tasty. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!

This was my first real meal in Italy, so I may be a little biased, but this really was such an amazing meal. Spaghettini with zucchini, mint basil, and goat cheese. If you can get it, GETIT. It was so good. The restaurant came recommended based on the cacio e pepe they serve, but my travel mate was getting it and we never get the same thing! It’s no fun to try someone else’s plate when they’ve ordered what you have. The night we were there, it was reasonably crowded with no outside seating available — which was a downside, but not the restaurant’s fault Italy was having a heat wave and the inside of every building felt gross — and busy enough that it took us nearly 20 minutes to get the attention of someone to get our bill. But the food and atmosphere was well worth the wait. Watching the hostess/server rocking out to «Livin’ On A Prayer» was top notch. Who knew we were going to get entertainment with the meal, too? Overall, a really quaint little place. Great food, great vibe, very reasonable price, friendly staff. Worth every cent!
