They clearly have hygiene problems, anyone who does not believe can go to toilet and have a quick look at the kitchen. I saw one of the cookers and he was pretty dirty. Other than cleanliness the food was poor. My wife ordered a carbonara and I ordered lasagna. Where should I begin, the carbonara was the worst I saw, there was no bacon only fat and old smelly fat. There was no eggs and bad smell. My lasagna had also a weird smell which is old oil which I know from my experiences. Overall the worst restorant we have been in Italy.

Waiter was very prompt and recommended a nice bottle of chardonnay. Food was excellent… had the Ragu de Gnocchi. Very surprised, nice portion and the ragu was excellent. Prices are inexpensive as we also has an appetizer(bruschetta — don’t get this) and a bottle of vino. Now, do not come here(or to Italy for that matter) if you are looking for great… mom, good service. You will not find it. So, bottom line, very good to excellent food, good prices, crappy service. Heading there again tonight for dinner. Have been in Rome for over two weeks and this is the only place that we are going for a second time. If sucks… Will update.

This was our first sit-down meal in Italy, so we had lots of high expectations since we planned on ordering a few quintessential Italian dishes here. It’s been a few weeks since we ate at Da Cencia, so we’re able to judge their food against other Italian places. i have to say that Da Cencia holds it’s own. First of all, we arrived in a large group at around 11am or so. The place was empty, but since it was a nice day we decided to eat outside. They quickly seated us and told us about their lunch prix fixe menu. Most of the group went with that, but my family decided to go with those aforementioned quintessential dishes. We ordered a handful of dishes but thecstandouts were my Cacio e Pepe and my husband’s spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, and anchovies. The pasta was cooked perfectly and our meals were absolutely delicious. As for service, our waitress was very helpful and patient, as we were a bunch of Americans not quite knowing what we were doing on our first full day in Italy. Before we left, we went to the bathroom in the basement – very clean, even nice-looking. The restaurant was starting to fill up as we left, everyone eating, laughing, and enjoying themselves. Our lunch at Da Cencia was just the start of many delicious meals in Italy to come.

Worst Amatriciana ever tasted in Rome. There have been so many setbacks during the service that it’s impossible for me to give a 3 stars review. Moreover, the food was barely average at it’s best. It’s just not up to the Italian standards. Bland and characterless food. Just nothing special. The Amatriciana: the sauce was extremely liquid. The taste was bland, it didn’t taste like a proper Amatriciana at all, but more like a rookie attempt to make one. It was also too salty. This was the worst Amatriciana I ever had in Roma. The portion was excessive and the pasta was overlooked. Just a disaster. Carbonara: oily oily oily. Bland. Didn’t like it at all. The Bruschette: super oily, the dish they were served on was completely covered in oil. Those poor Bruschette were sailing in a sea of olive oil. Bad. They served us warm beer. They served us cold grilled vegetables. The only good thing we had was a fresh fish, that was actually really good but not enough to justify all the mistakes in the service and the very average quality of the food. Conclusion: there are much much better places in Rome. Trust me.

We were told we that there were tons of small cute restaurants in this area, so we wandered through and found this place on a lovely afternoon. There were a few tables already occupied but people steadily came as we ate. The outside area is fairly large and that is where we sat. I had the meat sampler plate that was plentiful and delicious. For my entrée, I had the wild boar pasta. I thought the sauce was a bit runny, but had good taste and bold flavoring. The meat was soft and again, there was plenty of it. The service was decent and we were out of there in a good amount of time given the slow standards of European meals.
