Sciam

The five stars are just for the staff. I came here more than 10 times just for their great treatment. On the other hand, their shisha is not that great, for regular hookah smokers it won’t do it, I am used to the flavors and the quality we have in the Middle East, so I didn’t really like the shisha. The tea is classic and I have nothing to say about it. The food, fattoush is horrible; I hated it. Other salads are okay, I just liked the hummus. Music is great!!! Classic Arabic music.

Not a good hookah bar. The girl that works there is rude. The Shisha is really bad they use cheap tobacco which made the hookah burn fast. The seating isn’t comfortable. The only good thing is the mint tea.

Anyone who is used to smoking proper, authentic shisha/​hookah can tell that this place is anything but good.
1– The shisha «hookah» is so bad. The double apple flavor tobacco, they claim, is a «special house blend». They do have Nakhla but no Al-​Fakher. I have been smoking double apple Al-​Fakher for 10+ years. My wife usually smokes lemon-​mint, but there was no lemon neither mint. The shishas they have are cheap Chinese made pipes with crappy hoses. The tobacco head is so small that it can barely hold the quick coal they are using. It goes without saying that there is no KM shishas. natural charcoal, bigger tobacco heads or fruit heads. The shisha smoked terrible. Was not hitting, too charcoal-​like tasting (too little tobacco) and was dirty (u would find particles in your mouth after smoking).
2– Drinks: Asked the server if they can make tea with mirameyah (sage). He told me no but he can make tea with mint, while the mirameyah can only be served alone !!! So my wife ordered mint tea and I ordered mirameyah. Both were beyond terrible that neither of us took a second sip from our respective drinks. I asked the server for diet coke, and he said they do not have any (they have regular pepsi!). We settled for bottled water.
3– Service: Terrible. There were 2 servers who sat together playing with their mobile phones in a different compartment where they don’t see you (we and the 2 only other customers were in the same compartment). Therefore, every time we or the other customer needed charcoal or any thing else, we would get up and go to the compartment where the servers are sitting to tell them what we want. My wife after some time was not feeling comfortable so when we got up and went to ask for the bill, one of the 2 servers had just went out of the store and lit a cigarette, while the other disappeared. So I opened the door and told the cigarette-​smoking serve we are leaving, and he asked me to wait until he finishes his cigarette!!!
4– Atmosphere: while it looks nice in photos, it is not as so in reality. The seating is very very very uncomfortable. Extremely uncomfortable. I don’t know how they thought they can make people enjoy their stay in a lounge-​type business with these terribly uncomfortable small wooden boxes they use as chairs and the small cushions that I couldn’t figure out where to place.
Bottom line: terrible experience. The only thing that made up for the bad experience is that we were feeling hungry by the time we left so we thought we might as well try the pizza pace immediately next to Sciam. The pizza was super good.
I visited other shisha places in Rome, and did not really have a much better experience than what I had in Sciam. From my experience (short stay in Rome), I can conclude that there are no good places for the shisha/​hookah enthusiast used to authentic good quality shisha smoking in the Middle East, the United States or the United Kingdom.

We had a lot of fun here smoking hookah! Great place for small groups. Apple flavor was yum! The tea was tasty too :)

Fine Hookah (Sheesha) is served here, it would taste better if they served it with natural or wood charcoal.
