After a long walk in Rome, my friend and I decided to eat at this restaurant next to the Piazza. The food was ok. When we ask for the check, they gave us a bill with the break down of the food we order plus a 14% servizio charge. And on the bottom of the bill said«TIPSNOTINCLUDED». We ask what is servizio charge and our waiter told us that is the tax. We pay the bill plus couple euro and left unhappy. Went back to the hotel and did some research and found that the servizio charge is tip. The menu should mention something about it otherwise is illegal for them to put on bill. We don’t remember if it was in the menu or not. But for the waiter lie to us after we ask what that charge was, that to me is a scam. The guardia di finanza of Rome should look into it. Rome is a beautiful place should not let this scammer smear the place.

Outstanding and what a location just at the foot of the fountain in Piazza Navona. Tortalini to die for and Truffle penne with sausage that will leave you wanting more. Yes… Yes…Yes

I’ve never been that impressed with Roman cuisine, and this place sort of fell in line with that. The ambience was perfect — just across the way from the obelisk water fountain of Piazza Navona. We went on a Saturday December night, and there was a lovely street fair carrying on outside. The outdoor seating had lovely lamps to keep us warm. We went for some standard fare — I had the zuppa di fagioli(what you might call the Italian equivalent to chili), and my friend had the lasagna al forno(homemade lasagna). I found the fagioli to be very different from what I’ve had before. I’m no expert in Italian food, so perhaps I was envisioning Napoli’s pasta fazul. Nevertheless, mine was nice and hot(great on a December evening), filling, and had a pleasant but unexpected spicy kick to it. My friend’s lasagne was disappointing. It had more of a creamy red sauce than a pure red sauce. I tasted what I thought were pine nuts in the sauce. The disappointing part was more the lukewarm temperature than the taste. It made my friend feel like it was not homemade at all. Thankfully, there was the wine that sort of muted out the food. The bottom line, we were on a United plane the next day back to the US, and he thought the plane lasagna in economy class tasted better and was hotter… Overall, I like the ambience of this place, and I would go back again and order something else.
