We come from Seattle, where delicious quality beer abounds, so my review is biased. We applaud the effort to bring better beer to Italians, but they really need to do some more research on the actual flavors of beers. It was missing the quintessential flavors that make up each type of beer. Also, we were very excited to try some burgers, but mine came almost raw, their version of «medium,» and I couldn’t finish it. I did enjoy their homemade chips, however!

If you want an amazing burger on amazing breads, look no further! Not only that, there are over 50 beers to choose from. Not being a beer drinker, I went with the hard cider, which tasted great with the appetizers and burger itself. The chicken wings were tasty, and the breading was great. Not at all greasy. We also really enjoyed the falafel plate! We also went with the white cheese and garlic chips. Yumminess!!! I ordered the Singin’ In The Rain burger. Absolutely delicious! NOTES: I learned that Medium Well here means what Medium Rare is in the US. If you don’t want to wait or do reservations, be sure to get there by 7:30. We were seated right away, and then the place was full with people waiting by 8pm. It’s off the touristy beaten path. The ambiance is fun, the staff is friendly and helpful, a must stop place in Rome! I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Decoration is great for sure with the beer bottles wall and fancy lights. However we were disappointed by the food. I asked my burger to be cooked medium rare and it was served well done. The meat itself was too salty and hard, not great quality for sure. The rest of the ingredients and the buns were good though. I felt sorry for my friend who ordered the fried chicken strips. They were so dry that you need a lot of sauce to make them edible. Hipsters must love this place because it looks trendy and you can play the expert with their large selection of beers, just avoid having diner there.

After eating pasta, pizza or sandwich for days, my husband and I wanted something different and lucky enough stumbled upon this joint. We were so happy that there was a table open and that Bonci(Pizzarium) makes the buns. We knew we were in for a treat. We ordered our burgers and their cacio e pepe chips and were happy the rest of the evening. The chips are homemade and we’re covered in of course, cheese and pepper, taking after the pasta dish. It was divine and was more than enough to share among 2 people. The burger was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and our food arrived shortly after placing our order.

No longer a secret it seems. Beer is becoming a thing in Rome, and its working. After a fantastic meal in the area, my friend and I Googled our way to this place for a beer nightcap. The crowd is young… we were almost the oldest people there, and I am not old by any stretch. The VERY friendly hipster/hippie bartenders spoke English, and loved chatting about the beers. They have some very unusual beers in addition to international styles, and this is a good place to try and figure out what an Italian character in beer is like. I tried a cask ale they had on tap and found it unlike anything I’ve had in the states or the UK. VERY crowded and noisy but fun at the same time… low key festive. The menu looked great, but I was full and had to decline for another time. Oh I will be back.

What a cool place! As much as I love drinking wine in Italy, a girl needs some beer sometimes! We found Open Baladin Roma via Unilocal, and it did not disappoint. I loved the atmosphere, lots of colorful paintings on the walls, wall behind the bar lined with beer bottles from floor to ceiling, and LOTS of tap lines! The beer was fantastic, so many delicious types of Italian beer, especially my favorites, sours. We drank more off the bottle list than the draft list, because the bottle list had all the yummy sours. Prices were reasonable, 10−15EUR per«large» bottle. The food was also amazing. We had an appetizer of samplers which were delicious. I also had a veggie burger which was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever eaten. It was big, juicy, and had a delicious sauce on it. Service was also fantastic, the waitresses were awesome and everyone was cool and friendly. We definitely stayed for a while and drank our fair share of Italian bottles! Great spot. Highly recommended for an Italian beer fan.

At the tail end of my 10-day Italy vacation, I was growing sick of pasta and wine and needed a break. Open Baladin Roma served as a perfect pause. When you walk in, you’ll be greeted by a full wall of beer bottles behind the bar and a spacious seating area. From Baladin to LoverBeer, their menu hosts Italian brews of varying styles and ABVs for beer enthusiasts. At our table, we tried a few rounds of sour bottles for the most part, but we had to include an Open Baladin in the mix! I also ordered the chicken burger, which was delicious but a bit overdone. We split some kind of flavored balls as well, and they were great! Service was friendly and mostly prompt, and the décor is awesome. I’d go back in an instant on a future visit to the city!

The beer and service were both top-notch, but the prices were a little steep — 10 euro for a flight of three small pours. If you’re really into beer, the prices might not sway you, but there’s so much inexpensive, good wine in Rome that I just couldn’t convince myself to stay here for a second round.

In every city I’ve visited during my European holiday I make it a point to visit craft breweries, this place ranks high. Their selection of beers is vast and tasteful. I was only able to make through six selections before I hazily remembered I had to walk back to my hotel. Their beers range from IPAs, Sours, Weizen, and Belgian Ales to name just a few. Open Baldin also has a full menu with an assortment of burgers and more local fare. I’m so very excited to go back home and brag about this place I found in Rome. Oh yeah the Colosseum was cool too.

This was my favourite place in Rome, it’s in a really cool area called Trastevere where you can get lost walking in and out of bars, restaurants and cafes. We didn’t eat here as much as I begged my boyfriend that we should but we had already booked a table at a different restaurant that was very tasty! Anyhoos. for some really yummy beers from extremely knowledgeable staff, this is the best place for it. They literally know everything about every drink it’s fascinating to listen to and really shows their passion! If you’re ever in Rome, make sure you visit here! You’d be really silly not to!

Great burgers and homemade chips! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very sweet, knowledgeable, and attentive. Their burgers are made with quality ingredients. It all tasted great. After eating lots of delicious Italian food, it was nice to change it up a bit and grab a burger. There is plenty of seating inside and their restrooms are clean. The vibe here is very laid back which is nice. Hubby got a beer too and he said it was really good. They have a huge variety of beers. Their portions are generous. Glad we dropped by.

Came in and sat down. It was as if we were invisible. Waitresses waited on and served other people completely ignoring us. It took about twenty minutes to get a beer and the place was not busy I practically had to tackle a waitress to get the beer. My wife ordered the second round at the bar and that took a while as well. Waitress brought the bets and had no idea which beer was which Ordered chips we never saw and the bathroom was disgustingly dirty Don’t need to ever return

If you’re a beer fan, Italy is one of the worst places in the world to find great beer. At most places you get one of three choices, all clear as horse piss and none with any merit. Open Baladin offers a large selection and they certainly are giving the microbrewery craze a shot. I went for the IPA, twice, but it fell short. It distinctly lacked the bitter hops I crave in a good IPA. Chianti’s have more IBU’s and more alcohol per volume. As for the food, what great brewpub doesn’t offer chicken wings? Of course, I had to try them. Crusted in a batter similar to a cornmeal, they were crunchy, but had no spice, this despite ordering them spicy. The fried the chicken sandwich had the identical breading – after the bird took a severe pounding to flatten it. The homemade chips were fine, the catsup a break from the heavy fryer grease. Staff seemed to shy away from non-Italians, but overall they tolerated us.

I guess this is a novelty concept for Italy. It was cool, I guess but I felt as though I didn’t belong. Not hipster enough for this place. But that is not the reason 3 stars are given. The beer was nice and fresh. Very good. The food? Not so much. Sorry Italy, you cannot do burgers. Don’t try. Both my husband’s burger and the sandwich I got were extremely dry. My sandwich was so dry I had problems swallowing it. Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress was very patient and explain the menu and beer selections.

Extensive selection with very knowledgeable and friendly service PLUS great food and a beautiful setting! We loved the chicken fingers(I know, sounds lame but OMG so good!) and our super awesome bartender, Syvia. Excellent spot that’s easy to get to in Rome for craft beer lovers and general bar lovers alike!

I know burgers in Rome isn’t what people imagine when they vacation, but imagine being able to tell you friends that you had a burger with bufala mozzarella cheese on it! Open Baladin is great – we had licorice chips and garlic and pecorino chips. Personally, I don’t like licorice, but my friends who do think the chips are fantastic – they are a tad sweet, which threw me off. The garlic and pecorino chips were fantastic. Not too greasy, but well seasoned. We each tried different burgers – I had the one with bufala mozzarella. The burger was very well cooked and savory. The cheese was so light and tasty that to eat a normal cheeseburger makes me very sad. The beer selection at Open Baladin is excellent – they give you descriptions for the type of beer so that you can choose one that suits your palette. I had a fruitier beer that complemented my burger perfectly – can’t do a burger right without a nice, cold beer. Definitely worth a try once you’re sick of pizza and pasta!

I’ve spent the past 30 years with one foot in Italy and one foot in the US. Born in L.A., married in Italy, back and forth all the time. When I am in the states, I am always missing decent Italian food, and when I am in Italy… well, there are times that I am just jonesing for a good burger. Here’s the thing… In all of these years, I never found a burger in Italy that I would even dare rate as «decent». I even found myself at times going to McDonald’s for that occasional fix. UGH! McDonald’s. Hard for me even to say that! But as much as I have tried, Burgers in Italy have always just sucked. Until I finally came to Open Baladin. Thank you, Unilocal!I may never have otherwise found it. The burgers are FANTASTIC. And I don’t mean by comparison to the other junk burgers I have had in Italy… they are actually really, really good! To the point that if this place were in the states, it would still be one of my top choices! The location here is just a few hundred feet from Campo dei Fiori, on an unassuming back street that is easy to miss. When you walk in, you will find a great vibe that feels«American in Italy». Chalk boards, high tables & chairs, and a wall of beer… but with Italian style that is hard to define. They pride themselves on their craft beer, which is something you don’t find much of in Italy, but I appreciated quite a bit. The menu here has burgers, hot dogs, and all sorts of Italian comfort food favorites, done VERY well. We had their chips, which were completely home made and served with home made ketchup. The chips were excellent, and the ketchup was out of this world!!! We also had come Crochette. These are fried potato balls with melted cheese and pancetta inside, served with a home-made mayo sauce. Again, FANTASTIC!!! Finally we had burgers. Mine was the Capri Burger with Buffalo mozzarella & tomato, served with homemade basil-mayo. We also had them add some grilled speck(almost like bacon). The patty was huge, the buns were soft and delicious, the meat was excellent, and all around it was 5 stars all the way! Simply put, they NAILEDIT! The price was a bit high, but I am happy to pay it for the premium quality! To close it up, I would not normally suggest people visiting Rome to have anything but Italian food when in Italy. I mean, you ARE in Italy. And I get frustrated when I see tourists lining up at McDonald’s or the Hard Rock in Rome. But this place is a pretty awesome hybrid that brings the best of Italian culinary style to American tradition. It is Italian-American fusion done right. So if you really want a burger, please… I beg you to pass on the golden arches and the hard rock… This place is EXCELLENT!!!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Open Baladin?! This place is amazing and if you are in to beer, this is a MUST visit while in Rome. It’s located in the very popular and hip Trastevere neighborhood of Rome and is easy to find. It’s a nice, open space with plenty of seating — both at the bar and at many tables. There was also a 2nd room and a downstairs area. I love the view when you enter — the 1st thing you see is a huge wall of beer behind the bar. Um, yes please! They have approximately 40 taps — all beers being only 5 euros, which is fantastic! They even had Cantillon on cask, and I’m am fairly certain that’s what gets most of us Americans here. Haha! They also have more than 100 bottled beers available, and I actually bought a bottle of Cantillon to bring home. The food was actually very good. We didn’t have burgers, but they definitely sounded delicious. We shared the fried potato ball thingys(I forget what they are called) and they were freaking amazing! Then we had the homemade chips with paprika, and they were also very good. The service was fast and friendly and they offer free wifi. Bascially, if you love beer and you don’t visit Open while in Rome, you are seriously missing out. This was one of my favorite places while visiting!
