Lived in Rome for a few months and this was one of my best dinners. It isn’t much to look at but the food was delicious. It’s mostly seafood with some wonderful ‘off the menu’ items. Highly recommend it if you’re in town

Unexpected find in Testaccio, a hidden gem where you can savor gourmet seafood dishes at very reasonable prices. It’s «osteria» style, but offering attentive service and bold menu options, like artichoke-crusted sea-bream, or zucchini-flower-crusted bass with potatoes and grilled calamari. That’s a mouthful, and a delicious one. I did not get to try the pasta, I think that appetizer + main course is a great combo. Among the starters, notable zucchini flowers, anchovies and mozzarella au gratin, even more delicious than the eggplant parmigiana. Desserts are all home-made, if you have a sweet tooth, it pays to save some room for the exquisite«tortino ai frutti di bosco», or a classic Tiramisu. Even the bread is good! In summary, a not overly sophisticated seafood place with excellent ingredients, novel combinations and pleasantly reasonable prices.
