I know it is kind of tacky to go to McDonalds while you are vacationing in Rome. You come there and you hear English spoken by a bunch of customers. You start to think that you should be venturing out and exploring the local cuisine unlike those people. But McDonalds in Rome has very good McCafe which i like and which is by far superior to McCafe in the US. It is also cheap compared to the local businesses and the quality of McCafe drinks and pastries is very good. So why pay 3 euros for a cup of coffee if you can get it for 1 euro at McCafe?! Pastries were very good, and the hot chocolate was great. On weekends and holidays this McDonalds gets insanely crowded. I would not even bother to go there during lunchtime because you probably would not even be able to find a place to sit.

We were site seeing around the area and in need of a restroom. Dropped by this McD’s and to our surprise we found out that they have a nice McCafe area, filled with delicious baked goods, drinks, and gelato. The restrooms at this location weren’t the cleanest and most of the doors barely locked but it got the job done. It’s quite difficult to find a restroom around Rome, unless you’re dinning in at a restaurant. There is plenty of seating at this location and though their restrooms weren’t the cleanest, the seating area is quite clean and modern. Employees are friendly. Menu items are the same as the U.S. for the most part, with a couple of different items added to it. Their McCafe is quite awesome and decently priced.

Mcdonald’s stores millions of people a day over 100 countries, and Italy is no different. This Mcdonald’s store in Italy, looks like a nice one but it is when you step inside, you just want to hide. When you enter, it starts into a Mccafe, mainly dedicated to the Mcdonalds Café drink/coffee range and some pastries, and you have to go down a few stairs to get to the main restaurant, hence is poorly wheelchair accessible, they is a way for wheelchair access but this involves: travelling down many back streets, using the freezer entrance and feeling like a hassle, and like they are taking part in something fishy, rather than a guest of a massive chain. When I finally got in the store, I tried to use the machine to order my food fast, to avoid big queues, however it was slightly difficult,(yet possible) to change the language to english, and then find dietary requirements notes, It said they had them but it just didn’t work, and I had to go to the till The server was very slow, and it must have taken half an hour queuing to get service, which really isn’t fast food, the guy who served me seemed nice enough but still was puzzled I wanted a burger with no bun. I would of wanted something else but after getting my friend to queue in another line for the machine checkout, what took about 2 minutes, they couldn’t provide anything either, despite it being EU law and mentioning about it on machines. The food here, like the store was very poor, my burger meal must of been about 7.3 euros and it was awful, the presentation was poor, and it was just slopped on a plate, it was either put in a horrible, white sauce I guess was mayo or just simply dry, so it wasn’t nice throughout, and all the toppings came off like a sandwich. My fries was not much better; they were over seasoned. The staff made sure I got in okay, but when I wanted to leave, no one tried to help me out, as I had to go through the staff freezer exit on my own, after trying to get through other«emergency exits» To conclude, this store may look nice and like a posh Mcdonald’s but at the end of the day, it is the same old menu, perhaps even worse than the UK as they don’t sell cheeseburgers, the waiting time is dreadful and can leave you feel drained, just as you wait for a simple burger which should take minutes, the food is very poor and inedible in parts, it is a little pricy and noisy too. It really isn’t a nice place and is definitely one of the more deserving places for my «Avoid at all costs» list

Am I the only one who thinks that when you’re traveling overseas, you have to stop at McDonald’s at least once to see what its offerings are like? I know at least my wife is onside with me on this. We were on our way to the Spanish Steps when felt peckish and wanted a cheap, cold drink. We had been seeing a lot more signs directing people to McDonald’s locations than actual McDonald’s at this point as well, so it was interesting to actually find one. The menu was of course very similar to the American/Canadian one, with a few additions like fish and chips, McLobster, Italian-ish salads, brioche turnovers and what we bought: spinach and parm croquettes. Three came in each order, and they were surprisingly tasty, given the price an location, as the filling was creamy and flavourful. This location was much bigger than you would expect from the street entrance which lead to this basement location, which just seemed to expand and expand. Cool air conditioning, free wifi and cheap mediocre eats, it’s what you expect and what you get.

McDonalds in Italy! We stumbled upon this because we need to use the restroom. This is by far the biggest and nicest McDonald’s I’ve been to in the world! Very modern looking! It’s right by the Spanish steps in piazza di spagna. It looks small from the outside but it’s pretty big. It has 2 levels. Their café offers a lot of coffee and dessert selections unlike the McDonald’s in America. It’s more like a Starbucks actually. I ordered the café tiramisu, which was good but pretty strong. I guess this is just how Italians like their coffee.

The undisputed crown jewel of the Roman restaurant scene. In a bold stroke of entrepreneurial genius, McDonalds casts aside the bland Roman conventions of pizza and pasta in favor of tantalizing meat circles brushed with digestive lubricants and topped with assorted vegetables. These carefully matched components are complimented by their casing: two edible mini-waffles. Some mini-waffles come with seeds, allowing diners in search of a sustainable lifestyle to grow their own at home. If the foregoing weren’t enough to tickle every corner of the tongue, each meal includes a pile of thinly sliced potatoes bathed in a hot salted brine, delivering a Trevi Fountain full of taste. Due to troubling economic circumstances, the Romans have been unable to renovate or replace many of their buildings, streets, and art for centuries. This downtown gem is one notable exception. The multi-floored facility adorned with gleaning white floors and tastefully done blocks of red provides a perfect backdrop for a multi-cheeseburger dining event. This has become the McDonalds trademark experience: simultaneously feeding the body, the heart, the soul, and the mind. McDonalds has quietly revolutionized the Roman dining experience. Owners of the local pizza and pasta houses privately fear that their unimaginative menus will be conquered by the subtle sophistication of McDonalds’ well-balanced meals. A nourishing masterpiece, and the finest Roman achievement in centuries. Five stars.

You should probably be trying other foods besides McDonalds but I have to say you have to go and at least check out this place! This is one of the fanciest McDonalds in the world. Our group actually went to the Spanish Steps pretty late and were just looking for a bathroom when we stumbled upon this McDonalds. I was super excited to see it when I realized which one it was because it was one of the top rated, if not the top rated, on Travel Channel’s show about McDonalds. The A/C is running full blast so it’s a good break from the heat outside. The food is also more expensive than what you’re probably expecting a McDonalds would cost. However, they have a large selection of pastries in the Café that you just can’t look away from. Come to this McDonalds to experience the atmosphere(probably not so much for the food).

Great interior, very much in line with the rest of the McDonald I’ve seen in Europe. The McCafe is fantastic for a warm coffee stop at a little over one euro for a cappuccino and the seating area is massive!

Nicest McD’s I’ve ever seen. And it delivered the goods for this guy who became a little food homesick after 3 weeks away.

Don’t judge! ;-) This is nothing like a McDonalds in America. Its beautiful inside. And after spending 3 – 4 euro for a coffee and pastry at various independent Roman breakfast«bars», it was a relief being able to get an expresso and pastry for 1.80 euro, and it was just as good! Or splurge for 2.20 euro combo with a pastry and cappuccino. And they don’t charge you an extra 30−40% to sit down, as all the independents do.

Como cualquier otro Mc Donalds, la característica principal es que fué el primer Mc Donalds que se abrió en Roma, está decorado al estilo romano de la época de Julio César.

The McDonald’s near the Spanish Steps is massive and supposedly the largest one in Europe. It has free wi-fi and pumps the AC at full blast in the summer. It’s a good place to pause and regroup while hoofing around the city. Yes, I know you’re not supposed to eat McDonald’s anywhere but suburbia USA, but this one is worth visiting because of it’s sheer size and comfort.

Dear tourist, You’re in Italy… WHYWOULDYOUGOTOMCDONALD’S?! Surprisingly, McDonald’s in Italy charge a lot more for their meals than the ones in America. However, they offer way better food options, and their McCafe serves delicious coffee drinks and desserts. This McDonalds’ atmosphere is really nice, but it’s always packed and seating is hard to find. Even if you’re a tourist, it’s a great place to try.

Very large. Efficient and clean. I really liked the family-like seating arrangements, that resembled restaurants more so than fast food.

This is the first Mc Donald’s in Rome. They have a beautiful interior decorated in the Caesar period looking like catacombs. They have a full coffee bar and pastry shop. They have the normal shitty McD’s menu right along with Happy Meals. Lots of locals come here and sit for hours just drinking coffee and visitng with each other. Very Rome.
