After reading in my Fodor’s guide book that it was a Fodors Choice, I decided to give Il Leoncino a try. It was a little tricky to find, especially since it was still closed at 6:00PM and the sign simply says Pizzeria. I returned at 7:00PM and was seated on the side alley outdoor section. Ordered a sausage pizza with a side salad. I have to say, the pizza was average at best. The side salad, although fresh, just tasted bland. I really can’t give it more than 3 stars, but from reading the other reviews, I’m in the minority.

This place is so delicious and well priced. There are always Italians lined up on the street to get in. The location on Unilocal is a bit off though, it’s actually on the corner of via dell’ Arancio and via del leoncino. We had antipesto, bruschetta, pizza, drinks and the bill was a little over € 30. For the 2 weeks while we were in Rome it was hard, really hard, to find a moderately priced reataurant so close to the Spanish steps that made good food.

We came here, because our travel guide advised it. Therefore, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t meet them. The waiter was very unfriendly, and the pizzas weren’t bad, but they also weren’t worth their price. As soon as we swallowed our last bite, they were urging us to leave, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. No wifi and no credit cards.

Want some authentic, affordable, real roman pizza??? This is it! Our native tour guide sent is there and it was a total trip. Nothing fancy– but a classic Roman meal. The woman running the show there, who we started referring to as ‘Mama Roma’ was the best. So heart warming and sweet, but clearly a tough one! She had the wild children at the next table INLINE when they got to be too loud. She also have us a HUGE glass of grappa at the end. You can’t beat that!

It’s a madhouse here. The place was PACKED so you have to wait outside for a table but there is not«list» of who came first so it gets a bit frustrating when people who speak Italian to each other cut in front of you! Once you get inside and order your pizza comes quickly. I got the 4 cheese pizza and the crust was thin and crispy and the cheese was plentiful! I didn’t really enjoy having brie on my pizza and all the cheeses got to be a bit«too much» after a few slices. My husband’s sausage and bean pizza was SPECTACULAR. Everyone finishes their own pizza here! It’s that good! Did I mention… cheap?

This wasn’t my favorite pizza in Rome, but still very, very good – and a great deal considering the location. The waitress was a very bizarre old lady with very… gregarious… makeup. While we didn’t try it, they are known for their sausage, onion & bean pizza.

My favorite pizzeria in Rome. Call ahead to be sure they are open. My favorite waiter is a jolly older salt-and-pepper bearded man named Giuseppe. The pizzas are excellent. Excellent crowded place to have pizza and wine with friends. Cheapest pizza in the neighborhood as well. Also, their salads are huge and great. Located just behind the Fendi store down the road in front of the Spanish Steps.

One of the most tipical pizzeria in Rome, very good roman food and pizza, central location very close to via del corso and via condotti, they don’t do coffee, but it doesn’t matter, you can take it in a bar.

Une cantine Cantine de nombreux romains depuis 25 ans, il y a souvent la queue devant cette pizzeria le soir. Les pizze ainsi que les bruschette sont delicieuses et vraiment bon marché, le patron est bourru mais sympa!
