Best food I’ve had in Rome so far. I kept hearing that food in Italy was amazing, but my experiences so far have only been so-so. We had the fried zucchini flower and fried artichokes(so good!). We also had some seafood dishes and the lasagna special which were amazing. Even the house white wine was delicious. And last we finished off with an assortment of desserts that was out of this world. Highly recommended!

Lasagna was good as was the fried vegetables. Good, but not fantastic. The spaghetti bolognese and veal piccata were not good. Better restaurants around. Skip.

I have been coming here since 1991 and recommend it with enthusiasm especially for seafood. This is a modest place with great food and wonderful service in a busy neighborhood full of life

We came to Rome as American tourists from Italian background– so we were looking for food that was just as good as we know our Italian family to cook. Being in ROME, so many places are tourist traps, giving you such a mediocre meal for a higher price. There is an assumption that Americans will eat whatever as long as it says«cacio e pepe» or «pizza al taglio.» Then we found Grotta del Teatro di Pompeo! The hostess was warm and friendly– we didnt need a menu because she knew exactly how to guide us. As soon as that happened, my husband and I knew we were in good hands! With that said, we ate a perfect Roman meal, we had a nice bottle of house wine and felt completely at home! Not to mention, a very reasonable price! This is an excellent restaurant that will not let you down!

Smiles all around. From the owner and the friendly, happy waiters. And from us, when we were done. The house white pleasantly pairs with the spaghetti alla bolognese. Try the fettuccine verdi with Gorgonzola sauce, a rarity on Italian menus.

We are staying at the Campo di Fiori and all the restaurants on the square seemed crowded and overpriced. This restaurant is 2 blocks away and you feel like you have walked into Classic Rome. The food here is very fairly priced, plentiful and delicious! Thank you for a great last night in Rome!
