Giacomini’s is an iconic Roman deli and small grocery shop at the bottom of the Aventine Hill. The brothers who run this shop are unbelievably kind and super helpful. As a study abroad student from America, the Giacomini brothers welcomed us with open arms for the 5 months we resided in Rome during the spring of 2008. Their panini are impeccable, they never hesitated to get us a cold bottle of wine from the back room, and they provided useful travel directions and suggestions for day trips to places such as Sperlonga. The days before we returned to America, the Giacomini brothers took photos with us and wished us well. I look forward to not only returning to Rome, but to returning to such a quaint and family establishment run by good-hearted Italians.
