Wow. Nice break from pizza in Rome. The bread is amazing and everything we tried was great. We had the broccoli, white meatball with artichoke and sausage with chicory. The owner is very nice and walked us through the ordering. Did I mention 1 euro peroni?

Fantastic pizza. Great service. Well worth the trip off the main thoroughfare to find this place, which seems like a hole in the wall, but has outstanding pizza. I really enjoyed it and would come back if I was in Rome longer.

The owner is so great and welcoming. She took the time to explain everything in English. The food is like a trip to her home as it feels like the best home made food! Absolutely a must for lunch or dinner, prices very reasonable. We came here twice during our time in Rome.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I had the best sandwich of my life at Da Simo. We happened across this café while wandering around the Piazza Navona area. A Roman woman was sitting outside, saw us debating, and told us we should eat there — she was clearly a local who had stopped in for lunch, so we trusted her and were so glad we did. Prices are fantastic, the owner is fantastic, and the sandwich… oh man, the sandwich was so good. I had the chicken ragu with vegetables and I can still taste it in my heart.

In a sea of the same panini everywhere else there is a hidden gem near Piazza Navona and the Pantheon… Eating here made us think how lucky we are to have consumer-based review apps like this one to get the opportunity to eat somewhere delicious that we would’ve never found on our own. Hands down the very best sandwiches I ate in Rome!

One of the food highlights of our time in Rome– we ate here twice and would have probably happily done so even more if our schedules had allowed for it. First, this place is run by a very sweet lady who explains the composition of each sandwich.(They do offer other items, but we were all about the sandwiches.) Trust her– she won’t lead you astray. Second, the food. Delicious bread with a multitude of filling options. We tried so many(you can get any of them on a smaller roll and try more sandwiches this way!) — but our highlights were the chicken with greens and tomatoes, the beef in wilted greens with roasted potatoes, and the meatball. Crazy good, very inexpensive, open late, cheap beer, and owned by one of the nicest people around. Totally recommended.

One of best places we are I Rome. Warning the nicest lady that owns the place will put together thing as she knows it should and will not let you mix things up but she knows her food and you should trust her! Had meatballs in white and red sauce both very good but the white sauce may be the best I have ever had!

This place is great! The owner greeted us when we walked up and immediately asked if we prefer to speak Italian, French, or English which was really nice, and her English was great! After that she brought us in and explained in detail everything they had so we knew exactly what we were looking at. The prices for the sandwiches and drinks are great in comparison to other restaurants I’ve seen so far in Rome(€ 4.50 for a small sandwich and € 6.00 for a big sandwich, while the beers are as cheap as € 1.00!!). On top of all that she didn’t charge us a cover charge for eating at the restaurant which is always nice! Needless to say we will definitely be returning!

da Simo. pane e vino is a diamond among many mediocre tourist spots in Rome. da Simo is tucked away near Piazza Navona. What you won’t find here is a great view, fancy tables or some smartly dressed good looking wait person enticing you to come eat mediocre food at exorbitant prices. This is a no frills hole in the wall kind of place that serves delicious Roman comfort food, the kind you would find a traditional family making in their home. The locals come and greet the friendly owner as if they are family. The owner Simo goes out of her way to explain what meats pair with what vegetables for delicious hot sandwiches not ham but cooked traditional meats. I had her pick mine who better then the owner to show off her finest food. There is also a traditional lasagna for sandwiches, as well as homade desserts. Dinner for two with drinks and dessert was around 12 euros. This is hands down the best food I’ve had in Rome and also the cheapest. When in Rome visit da Simo pane e vino for the real Rome.
