After battling the crowds at the Vatican museum my husband and I were hungry and in need of a beer. We quickly checks Unilocal and found the Angry Pig. After seeing a few rave reviews and seeing that Anthony Bourdain had been here, well it was a must go. Definitely did not disappoint! We both had the #3 and a beer. Is savored every bite! So so good! Do yourself a favor and do not eat at the museum. Go here!!!

Tasty. Had a great time chatting with owner. When in Rome, you have to try porchetta, so why not go to The Place? Week in and out, this is all he does… yeah, he does it well.

This is fine sandwich shop. We had the #2 and the #3. Both were delicious. This was a great change from the usual Italian ham sandwich!

So porchetta is a must-eat while in Rome, according to my friend’s father. We searched«Best Porchetta in Rome» and Angry Pig came up! Ten of us came in extremely hangry [hungry + angry*] and our spirits were immediately lifted. Service was incredible, considering we were a group of 10. Per recommendation from the owner, I went with the #3, which had sun dried tomatoes in it. My tastebuds and tummy were satisfied. The bread had a nice bite to it and the porchetta was flavorful. Not sure if I was extremely satisfied due to the fact that I was starving or because the food was the bomb, but either way, I walked out of there extremely pleased. This being the only porchetta I had in Rome, I don’t have anything to compare it to. However, I can say that all ten of us were content with our meal and were happy we trekked here from campus. That must say something about the quality of the food… Right?

We came here mid afternoon and the restaurant was empty… ¾pm doesn’t seem like a very popular time to eat in rome, lol. The owner was very friendly and we loved our sandwiches. They we flavorful and filling. They have a pretty decent beer selection and the décor was fun. Very convenient to the Vatican area as well.

If I could give 4.5 I would. A bit pricey(8 € for not a very big sandwich). The number 3 special with chicken, sun dried tomatoes and some kind of paste– a bit spicy. Super yummy but the place is small. When I went there was a coupl sitting in the middle table with a baby carriage, that alone takes up the 6 seater table and squishes one sides seats(4 spots). The other side has just enough room.

Stopped by here after visiting the Vatican City. My boyfriend and I were looking for some good food to eat and found this place on Unilocal. We stopped in and were surprised at how empty it was, especially with all the amazing reviews. I can’t remember what the sandwich was called, but it was delicious. The guys who work there are very friendly, they were joking with us while we eat and made sure we enjoyed our food. Great little shop to visit if you’re in the area!

Looking for a decent place to grab a quick and inexpensive meal near the Vatican? If you like your meal handy, then don’t pass this one up! Only problem is that it is so easy to pass by and not notice. It is a small hole in the wall sort of place, distinguished only by their cute signage out front. Go for the porchetta panini, the owners will even give you great suggestions on their menu and extra portions of their excellent porchetta. They are very friendly and serve your paninis with a broad smile! The sun dried tomatoes, salami and formaggio were so tasty too! The price? Perfect!

Big fan! Even though I am a vegetarian and didn’t try the porchetta(for which my boyfriend said it was the best panino he’d ever had), I appreciated the different kind of breads, the dried tomatoes and eggplant and the great choice of cheeses. Really nice service.

I couldn’t go to Rome without eating a solid porchetta sandwich. I wasn’t so fascinated by the black bread. I just wanted fatty, salty pork roast which so happened to be between a couple slabs of bread. The BEST guys work at Angrypig. The main man behind the counter(who i assume was owner) let us sample cheeses and pulled chairs for us while we waited. It was’t so much customer service. it was more like running into old friends at a bar and you just want to share good drink and good food with them. I really appreciated their hospitality.

Accessibility(Parking /Wait Time) 1⁄1 Star: I walked here. No wait to order or get a seat. _____ Service(Waiter /Cleanness /Ambiance) 0⁄1 Star: fast food style service. Small place. _____ Taste(0=Not Edible /1=Edible /2=Good(average) /3=Must Try!) 2⁄3 Stars: the pork sandwiches here are simple yet delicious. The sun dried tomatoes overpower the meat. Go with the sandwich with just pork. The sandwich looks small but it’s dense. _____ Overall Experience 3⁄5 Stars _____ Last Words Great pork sandwich! Would go again.

Definitely worth a visit while in Vatican City area for a quick bite at lunch time. I enjoyed their famous porchetta sandwich and the spicy salami was the perfect touch to go along with it. Unfortunately, the only disappointing thing was that they ran out of their famous black bread loaves when I got there so I didn’t have the full experience. Otherwise, well worth the stop! Such a tasty sandwich!

I love porchetta and was so excited to come here, but left semi-disappointed. Honestly, it’s not a bad sandwich, it just didn’t stand out for me. I tried the porchetta with nduja and sundried tomatoes on both the black bread and the green bread. The owner explained that the black bread is made from eggplant and the green bread is made from broccoli. I enjoyed the green bread a little more, but neither tasted much like the vegetables. Nduja is spreadable salami and so delicious. The porchetta was disappointing because it was cold in the sandwich and there was no crunchy skin, which in my opinion is the best part of porchetta. Sandwiches are 6 – 7 € so an awesome deal. The owner is great though! He watches The Walking Dead on his laptop in Italian when business is slow. I came here around 1pm on a Friday in mid-December and there were no other customers. The place is tiny(maybe about 10 bar seats).

This is a cute little place! The Angry Pig porquetta, named after the place, was very good. I think that porquetta all around Rome is more about the meat than the bread, because the bread wasn’t very good. On the service, I’ll attribute the irritability of the two guys working there to the fact that my friends were extremely indecisive.

The most unique food experience we had in Rome. After getting fairly lost trying to find it, the dark signage was a very welcome sight… The Italian weather wasn’t playing nice the day we visited Angrypig, so the inside seating was completely taken up — there isn’t much to begin with, which is worth bearing in mind if there are a few of you looking for a sandwich! With this, we decide to order and take our sandwiches to Castel Sant Angelo. Service was friendly, but there wasn’t much of an atmosphere in the bar. Perhaps the weather had put a dampener on people’s spirits, but I was expecting a slightly livelier reception. The server took us on a quick ‘tour’ of the menu, explaining the differences between the sandwiches. After(obviously) checking out Unilocal prior to arriving, we knew we had to get the black bread with porchetta, soft nduja sausage and sun dried tomatoes, and also ordered the plain porchetta on herb bread. There is a small beer cabinet which I’m sure we would’ve made good use of if we were sitting in, especially as we spotted family favourite Adnams! The sandwiches themselves were truly delicious. The thick cut bread complimented the soft meat, especially the extra chew in the black bread. The porchetta was excellent both with the additional items and on its own, a few crispy bits thrown in for good measures. It’s a stodgy lunch that will set you up for the rest of the day, or send you napping for an hour or two. Glad we found it.

Best porchetta I tried in Rome! This place is a must-visit(along with Old Bridge gelato) when you are near the Vatican. The porchetta in Rome was on the top of my list(with gelato and pizza) of meals to over-eat during my stay in order to try as many places as possible. You hear a lot about this being a specialty in Italy/Rome, and I tried several places. This was by far the best! The meat was delicious, and seasoned perfectly! The man working there was very friendly, and I went just an hour before closing when I was the only customer. By this time, they were out of the black bread that you see in all of the photos on Unilocal,so just be aware of that. It’s only 5 – 7 euro depending on which one you get, so it is hard to go wrong at this place and is well worth the visit if you’re in the area!

Close to Vatican city and talk about amazing roast pork — the porchetta is juicy and well salted and spiced and on the sandwiches is a mix of both the meat and the crispy outer skin — I had the roast pork with eggplant on the black bread(felt very Russian) and also an amazing Belgian craft beer(the dunkel). One of my travel companions saved half of her sandwich and I had it for breakfast this morning and it was just as good if not better. I consider this a perfect way to recover from a grueling(though amazing) tour of the Vatican — especially if you do a skip the line one with Travels of Italy where you go through the museum and get a chance to see both the Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica I saw another review that Anthony Bordain had also come here and I can see why, seems like his kind of place. The best thing, while the pizza places were packed this place, though small, was not crowded — I think it’s just a bit out of the norm for the food preferences here so I major plus for any foodie — excellent food, extremely affordable, and not packed out — I would happily go back here again and I just may before I head out of Rome! Oh, and when you come in, you get a free taste of the roast pork, even before you order, good deal!

We stopped here after seeing Basilica di San Pietro and before heading into the Vatican Museum. The owner greeted us as soon as we were outside and was very friendly throughout our time there. He gave us some samples of porchetta as we chose our sandwiches. We tried the #1 and #3. The black bread is an interesting experience but the porchetta was very good. A sandwich and a beer is about 11 euro.
