B & B Villa Degli Ulivi

On he whole, Americans love Italy. Whether it’s the beautifully prepared meals, it’s vast and varied art and history or the spectacular sight seeing– Italy has it all! Sadly, most of us stop at Rome thinking that’s it, but will not have not experienced the real Italy.
Travel only one hour North from Rome by train and you will find a place that dreams are made of. The remarkable hillside town of Orvieto in the Umbria region is much like striking gold– it is the real thing and so is the gentle yet sincere Italian hospitality offered by Daniele at B and B Villa Degli Ulivi.
Consisting of only 7 available rooms, this new but «built in the old style» B and B could be your best find in Italy. Large clean, comfortable and modern rooms, –ours upstairs had a fabulous view of the valley, other rooms had a deck. A lovely garden in the back is open for guests use too. Free parking if you are driving, and free pick up at the train if you’re using Public transportation. High speed internet available in your room at no additional charge.
You are well taken care of at Villa Degli Ulivi. A scrumptious buffet awaits you in the morning with fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheese and an assortment of cakes and breads. Daniele will make you a wonderful expresso or coffee to enjoy while enjoying conversation with fellow travelers and planning your days activities. He is very generous with his time advising the guests with every detail of their Umbria travels. Since parking in the town is difficult, Danielle willingly drives you up to the town and drops you off for touring so that the walk back, all just about downhill, is then easy. Can’t say enough — just want to add our heartfelt thanks– and we can’t wait to return!

The 5 star reviews of this place are correct. The owner was friendly, welcoming and made sure were comfortable and secure. He offered us a ride up the hill (but we drove – big mistake in the rain & not use to stick shift). Anyways, the room was pretty, nice accents and paintings. We got a balcony with a nice view. The room was clean, comfy, lots of windows and big bathroom. We got lots of towels, slippers and bath supplies.
He also put dry chairs out for us since it rained for our breakfast on the patio. His partner brought us cappuccinos to our room. Well worth the stay and the best customer service we’ve experienced so far. Plus he was nice to our puppy!

I had been traveling in Tuscany and Umbria for about 3 weeks before I landed here for 3 nights. It could not have been a better choice for us!
Located just outside one of the entry ways into Orvieto with stunning views over the valley, this newer B&B is an incredible value for what you get. We we had a room that would have been perfect for a family but there were only two of us. There was one room with two double beds connected to another room with a huge king bed. Simple décor but elegant at the same time. Nice big bathroom, refrigerator in the room and a really nice balcony off one of the bedrooms.
The outside area is where this place really shines! The view from the very large patio with tables and some nice wicker furnishings called to us at the end of a long day exploring. We would open up a bottle of wine and just gaze at the view.
A very nice breakfast including eggs, cake, sereal, cake, fruit, cake, juice, cake and coffee and an assortment of teas. And did I mention cake? Seriously, they had about 6 different cakes/​pies/​pastries each morning!
The proprietors live here as well and they aim to please.
We didn’t want to leave this place and would stay here again in a heartbeat!
