Dinner for 2. — Ambiance(4⁄5) Fine dining environment. — Service(4⁄5) Courteous and friendly for the most part though a bit deceiving. Asked twice for tap water and finally given bottled water(and charged for it). — Bread, 8 €(2⁄5) Expensive and really not that special. The white bread in particular tastes a bit stale. — Breaded Seafood, 25 €(3⁄5) Lots of variety– scallop, clams, mussels, razor clams, shrimp, langoustines, fish. We felt it could have been baked a bit longer as the breading was a bit soggy. Good flavors though! — Pasta Sheets w/Seafood, 19 €(4⁄5) Really good home made pasta. Felt the sheets could have been a bit thicker but all in all very, very good. The clams and tomatoes were also very flavorful, though the dish could’ve used a bit less oil. — Whole Baked Branzino, 28 €(4⁄5) Really fresh fish. Wood fire oven. Sounds great, right? It was! The waiter even helped to remove the meat off the carcass table side. I felt the olive flavor didn’t quite permeate the meat of the fish, so that could have been a bit better. But the star of the fish was the potatoes! Thinly sliced, slightly crispy, copious rosemary… like the freshest potato chips! — Value(3⁄5) A tad on the expensive side but nothing egregious. — Final Word Good flavors, great pastas! A few minor things here and there but overall a really good meal.

This restaurant is overrated — more of a production and show with their service than genuine really good flavors. Our hotel proprietors had tried to warn us off, but we were insistent. They were right — our table was very crowded with the four of us and every table was full of Americans. We prefer places where locals go.

Do yourself a favor and eat here. We made a reservation here on the recommendation of a friend, and we are so glad that we did. First of all, it was completely booked for every night that we were in town(we tried to go back a second time), and we can completely understand why. The food is amazing, the view from the patio is perfect, and the service is outstanding. We had a bottle of rosé, an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert and they were all perfect. This restaurant is a bit on the fancy side and thus, a little more expensive, but it was one of the best meals we had on our trip — so well worth it. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Cinque Terre.

I don’t understand the rage. Terrible service. Waited an hour to get 2 entrees with two sides. Couple who sat down at the table next to us ordered their food 40 minutes later than us and got their food at the same time as us??? Table was rickety, off balance, slanted– a big annoyance. Cover charge at 4 euros per person is a rip off for cruddy service. Flavorless bread. Made me miss France so much. At some point the server who wheeled in the neighboring table’s wine left the cart between our two tables creating this awkward bridge where it seemed like we were one table of strangers dining with each other. I had to tell the server to remove the cart. It wasn’t done for 5 awkward minutes because the server didn’t think to remove it! Once the entrees arrived they forgot the side salad which they brought out to us near the end like it was dessert or something. Driest side salad you can possibly think of with minimal dressing. Should have been labeled«side of raw vegetables» My husband enjoyed his entrée and we both loved the chocolate soufflé; however at compulsory 4 euros cover charge per person, wasting our time, and terrible service I would skip this place.

The absolute worst service we’ve had in Italy! Our waiter got upset that we didn’t want to order lunch but just drinks(even though we ordered a bottle of wine), olives and lemon sorbet. We actually saw him end his shift and leave without cashing us out, letting us know that we would have a different waitress, etc. We heard someone talk about the pasta being good so we decided to order the pesto and were very disappointed. It was over cooked and flavorless. When my mom asked for some olive oil for her bread(that they bring you without asking but also charge for) the waitress said«we don’t do that, it’s a touristy thing». This was a turnoff as she had bottles of vinegar and oil sitting right behind her. We won’t be back!

Very well presented ! The food is unique creative and delicious. They obviously care about their business. One of the best restaurants we have visited in EUROPE. PERIOD. They also were responsive to requests by their clientele AND they were efficient with out rushing their guests. Graciousness abounds here !!!

We saved this for our last meal in Monterosso and were so glad that we did! Although very expensive, it was 100% worth it. I ordered the tuna steak, and it was hands-down the best tuna I’ve ever eaten in my life. Based on a recommendation from Rick Steves, we ordered the dessert sampler(not listed on the dessert menu). It included 4 desserts: a pineapple crème brûlée, lemon crème pastry, pistachio pudding, and chocolate mousse. Even if you just go for dessert, you HAVE to get this!!! Food was delicious, presentation was flawless, and the service was amazing. Splurge a little and go here if you’re in the Cinque Terre area.

We were in the Cinque Terre for five days and had dinner here three times. The seafood is superb. You’ll need a reservation. I live in the US but often fantasize about having a private jet and being able to dine here regularly.

We really wanted to like this place. We really, really did. But the food and service made such an outcome impossible. The misto frutti di mare antipasto was, well, just«meh.» Nothing special, and even a bit salty. The mixed seafood grill entrée was also run-of-the-mill. Best thing about the whole meal was an entrée-sized portion of fried calamari. This was genuinely wonderful. The service in particular was a serious turn-off. Our lead server acted more than a bit snooty and didn’t even bother to show up at the table after taking the order until bill pay time came. Even the wine service disappointed. When asked to explain the varietals in a local white, the server couldn’t name one grape. We expected a lot more for what we paid. The hype promised a memorable meal. Nope.

One of the best meals I have ever had in my life. The risotto and their gnocchi is to die for. Excellent service, great atmosphere, I would eat here on any visit to Monterosso al Mare

Celebrated my 22nd birthday here. I don’t even like seafood, and it was hands down the best dinner I had for the 10 days I visited Italy. I had the gnocchi, and my family had the anchovies, spaghetti and risotto. My gnocchi was perfect… it melted in my mouth and the pine nuts were a great touch. The way they served risotto was exquisite. They lit the top breading on fire and plated it for my parents. I don’t like anchovies, but the plating of them was very artistic! Everything here is amazing… the service, the food and location right next to the beach.

YES! so good!!! I was just in Italy for two weeks and this was one of the best meals we had there! Everything was so fresh and everyone was so friendly! I loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. It is for sure a place to travel to if you are staying at one of the other towns in Cinque Terre. I loved that they had jars of the pesto, marmalade, pasta, sardines etc to buy. Thanks for a great time!

Lovely and Nice, but expensive and sorta not worth the fight to get a table here. Have had equally memorable meals in funky little areas of Italy. And, when traveling as a family of five, the final count was shocking. This was way more expensive and excessive than I needed. Probably would have felt better if I came at a less crowded time and with less teenagers in tow. Probably more a place for older couples celebrating special occasions than for a younger starving family not willing to walk far and just looking for a good place to eat.

Hands down this is the best meal we have experienced in Italy! …and we found it in the little seaside town of Monterosso after traveling through Milan, Venice, and Florence. So much of our experience has been the same repeat menu all prepared in virtually the same way, stressing freshness which is great but bland, boring and repetitive. We quest for the zest! We like flavorful, unique food. Our entire group was a little tired of the routine antipasta, primo piatto, secondo piatto… etc etc. Miky brings creativity and flair to all the dishes we ordered. The Michelin star(s) are deserved. The room and staff are upscale and experienced, especially comped to the local competition. Great service with great attitude. Our order: Appetizers: Tuna tartare: fresh, avocado and ginger comes to Italia! Parmesan flan: Miky brings it. Main dishes: Sea Bass Ravioli: Flaming pizza dough covering over the pasta — a first for us –seriously yummy for the bread lover. Seared tuna steak: Coated in a pistachio crust. Cooked to a perfect temperature. Great combo with sour cream, tiny onions and red bell pepper. Desserts: Chocolate soufflé: Incredibly rich melted chocolate with a chocolate cake crust. Very powerful flavor. Bam for chocolate lovers. Crème brule: Vanilla bean and cinnamon. Wonderful. Chocolate mousse: Less rich than the chocolate soufflé. Tiramisu: Great execution of the classic. Lemon cream filled pastry puffs: Plainer as puffs typically are but fresh lemon flavor. We LOVED this restaurant and wish we could come back but our train leaves in the morning…

Outstanding experience. Staff very friendly and willing to offer excellent suggestions on food and wine. We did 4 courses, all of which had gluten free accommodations for me. Every course was spectacular. A better meal than the 3 Michelin Star Jean Georges in NYC that we ate earlier that week. Salt crusted whole fresh catch, will never eat fish any other way again if I could.

This restaurant was recommended and it was better than we ever anticipated. We decided to return for a second night to celebrate a birthday. We had the mixed anchovies, salt crusted white fish, risotto seafood and great desserts. Top notch service!

One is tempted to blame Rick Steves(as other Unilocalers have already done) for the discovery of Miky but that wouldn’t be fair. Miky sits right at the edge of the beachside promenade leading to the new village of Monterosso al Mare from the rail station. It’s high traffic location and reputation among locals(it was recommended by our host and even used as a landmark for our shuttle) along with the fact that it intentionally sets itself apart from the trattoria set with linen settings, rolling carts and table-side flourishes combine to make this a go-to spot for memorable evenings. We made sure to snag a reservation on a week night(they are closed on Tuesdays) and were glad as the walk-in wait was impressive. We were greater with typical Italian service and seated in an interior dining room near the live eel tank. There were Italians to our left, Francophones to our right and a party of Americans celebrating at a large table behind us. The wine and champaign selection was adequate without being daunting or stilted. Think baby bear, just right. We chose a local Cheo 2013 from Cinque Terre and decided to keep a local palate when approaching the menu. What followed was a scene ripped out of Forrest Gump, except instead of shrimp, we were treated to a parade of sardines prepared every imaginable way. Do yourself a favor and order this primo piatto. From there we each chose a pasti course. I had the spaghetti al mare while my wife opted for the ravioli. It’s worth noting before Guy Fieri discovers this place, that all pasti courses are presented in casserole dishes table side by a server who then douses dish and ignites a fresh pizza dough which is stretched over the casserole. This is not only a fun schtick, but it cooks the dough to provide a nice accompaniment to your pasta. Then you dive in like Indiana Jones opening up monkey brains because it’s impossible to know what lies under your crust. Fun suspense. We rounded off the meal with a secondi of fried seafood and typical aperitifs. The conte was the highest we paid during our stay in Monterosso but that’s what this place is. As a local growing up in a beach town in New England, I wouldn’t always eat at places like Miky, but when I was trying to impress a girl or celebrate a graduation i had one or two similar places as go-tos. If you are in Cinque Terre and want that experience you will be rewarded at Miky!

Best restaurant in eastern Italy ! We had salted sea bass and it was prepared beautifully and the taste was amazing. I would go here every day if I lived here. The wine selection is very good as well as the amazing local olive oil.

So good we ate here back-to-back nights. And not just because we were renting an apartment from the family that runs this place(you get a 10% discount if you stay at one of their lodgings!). Reservations recommended but walk in during shoulder season is possible. Atmosphere: Clean, simple, yet homey, dress up or down, The tables outside can get chilly so layer up! Service: Flawless Food: Seafood in its freshest, simplest form done right. — Grilled calamari — Amazing, amazing, amazing — Grilled seafood plate — Excellent — Baked seafood plate — Excellent — HUGE — Fish ravioli — Awesome — Baked in a dish covered with Pizza dough for that toasted doughy essence. — Seafood pasta of some sort — Average — Salad — Average — Dessert sampler — Good but forgettable — Pistachio semi freddo — Smooth and light This place REALLY deserves a have a Michelin Star.
