Une immense plage d’un côté de la station plutôt balnéaire et une autre plus petite du côté de l’ancien bourg, tout aussi sympa. Quelques endroits né sont pas privés mais ils sont rares.
La partie ancienne de la ville est + sympa et authentique que la plus récente, de l’autre côté du tunnel.
Venir en train ou en bateau; ça permet d’arriver en plein milieu de la ville.

This is the last station for the 5 villages in Cinque Terre. It starts from La Spezia Central towards Manarola. This village is quite big and has an amazing beach with nice sand. This village has most wine shops, artisan shops, hotels and restaurants.
The village is divided into two parts from San Cristoforo hill and the old part of the village, protected by a rock spur, still presents the maritime village. So make sure you have enough time to see this village.
These villages are very interesting to see and each village is a little different and must be checked out.

We took the ferry boat from Porto Venere all the way to Monterosso al Mare (while stopping at each of the other 4 villages along the way). The views were spectacular from the ocean, and it was great to dock right at Monterosso’s beach front. We spent a good 1.5 hours or so in this most northern village in the Cinque Terre region. It’s also known as the most ritzy and glamourous (along with Vernazza) with summer hotels and residences for a lot of famous people.
We explored the beach, walked along it, climbed a large rock next to the beach, and even walked up the steps to the church that overlooks the town.
WOW — what a view. I’m so glad I made the trek up to the church to see the state of the priest and his dog, and even ventured as far as the cemetery on top of the hill/​next to the church! The views of Monterosso and the ocean were fabulous there! :) Even though my husband and I didn’t pick up anything to eat here, we enjoyed our short stay and then proceeded to start our hike through the National Park from Monterosso to Vernazza.
The first 30 minutes of the hike was very strenous and a huge incline up. You’re guaranteed to start huffing and puffing as you make that climb in the first part of the hike. :) It’s well worth it though, as you’ll continue to have amazing views of the ocean and the village of Monterosso behind you.

Monterosso al Mare is the most western of the five villages in Cinque Terre and the largest. The village has beautiful beaches, steep rugged cliffs and great swimming waters. The town is divided into two parts — the old town and the new town (where the train station is located) that are separated by a single tunnel used by pedestrians and the few cars that are in the town.
Gayle and I stayed in Monterosso during our recent trip to Cinque Terre. It may not be as cute or quaint as the other Villages, but served us well as our HQ for our hikes to Vernazza and Corniglia, catching the boat to see Cinque Terre from the water, enjoying nice walks in and above Town, leaning about the 2011 flood/​mudslides, and meeting new friends (including a few Rick Steves’ tour groups).

Monterosso, la plus grande ville du parc des CINQUE TERRE, est la seule qui, tout en conservant un groupe de maisons anciennes, a construit un nouveau quartier avec hôtels et jolies petites villas. Le pays se trouve entre deux échancrures toutes les deux peuplées de maisons, d’oliviers, de citronniers et de vignobles qui se terminent par une plage. Le nouveau quartier donne sur le bassin de Fegina; ici l’été la plage n’est que cabines, parasols et baigneurs. L’ancien bourg de pêcheurs se regroupe en revanche autour de la pittoresque plage de Marina Piccola. Magnifique

ich war vor ca. 2 jahren in monterosso und es war wirklich sehr schön dort. die stadt liegt, im gegensatz zu den anderen der Cinque Terre) direkt an der küste und verfügt auch über einen kleinen Strand. Die Altstadt war faszinierend zu durchwandern und auch ausgezeichnetes Essen haben wir dort gefunden.
Ein sehr charmanter ort auf alle fälle.
