After spending the better part of a week of being by and large fed crap tourist Italian in Tuscany that was reminiscent of a vivacious chef’s experiments at Olive Garden I ran into this place. Cheap, good, solid home Ligurian cookin’, nice staff and good wine. Bravo!

Three of us had dinner at al Rustichello when we were in Genova and it was the best meal in all of Italy! We had the grilled squid in a creamy basil sauce as an appetizer and it was so delicious that we were moping up the sauce with our bread! My husband had the fried calamari as his entrée; the tender calamari was very light and wonderful; the little taste he gave me left me wanting more. Our firend and I ha the swordfish in a tomato sauce with olives and capers… very delicious! To top off the meal, we shared the semifreddo and a special dessert that was not on the menu. The special desser, a ricotta cream with coffee, was to die for! The meal was further enhanced by the friendliness and warmth of the proprietor and staff; they made the evening one to hold in our dearest memories!
