This was our first meal in Florence, in which we learned about the Coperto, but our introduction was fine because we were greeted with small glasses of proscecco and given limoncello after our meal. To me, if you have to pay a couple of euros a head this makes it worth it :-). Anyway… our service was outstanding. Our very patient waiter translated the entire menu for us. We try not to be demanding English speakers, really! He did it without prompting. He was wonderful! His recommendations were spot on, and we went with pasta dishes for all four of us(pretty plain for the kids(they would grow more adventurous as our week here went on but not tonight). I had papparedelle with mushrooms, which was deliciously earthy, and my husband had fuscilli with bolognese. We did see some of the famous Florentine steak being served and did get around to that eventually, albeit not here. We shared a bottle of Super Tuscan and a lovely tiramisu for dessert. A terrific first night in a beautiful city!

We stopped by for drinks, maybe some food later because it was early. Our waiter poured, then told us we would have to pay a cover charge if we did not order food. We asked how much, and he shrugged! We stayed after receiving water while awaiting our wine. Next, the rude waiter said they needed the table and we had to leave! We went across the piazza where they were delighted to serve us!

Good meal on July 1st. Unfortunately a 14Euro wine we ordered turned up in the bill as 40Euros! The waiter simply shrugged his shoulders. Depressing for tourists, and our pointing our ‘14’ on the menu when we placed our order should have been enough surely?

When I think of Italian food, every person has an idea that comes in to their mind, a certain expectation or favorite dish. THIS, this place shattered every previous expectation and notion I had regarding Italian food. We went here based off of a recommendation from a local man for lunch, and the Lasagna has given me a new standard of what Italian food should taste like. That being said, I think it will be near impossible to ever be surpassed. If you’re in Florence I’m telling you, go. It’s right to the left of the The Basilica of Santa. Go go go go!!!

I can’t get enough of pizza in Italy. This place had a decent pie. I’m in love with Napoli style pies. This one had anchovies and the hugest capers. So yummy. Also, the seating, like most European places, is on the walkways. I love that(minus the smoking at the table). The people watching is great and why not be outside in this weather. It’s near the center of the city. This makes it a great stop before getting back to sightseeing and shopping.

One of my favorite restaurants in Florence. Delicious food from start to finish in nice candle-lit ambiance. The portions are more generous than typical Italian dishes so you really get more bang for your buck. Things I’ve tried and loved: 1. Pecorino & honey chutney– sampler of hard and soft pecorino cheeses(garnished with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper, the cheeses have a surprisingly nice kick) 2. Antipasti of cold cuts– assortment of salami, prosciutto, pâté, and bruschetta(really can’t go wrong) 3. Pasta with minced pork, zucchini and burrata cheese– ribbons of pasta cooked perfectly al dente and seasoned just right 4. Sea-salted steak & rucola– Florentines love their steaks very medium rare and so do I. Tender, succulent steak with little grains of seasalt on a bed of rucola(simple goodness) 5. Cheesecake with fruits of the forest jam– my boyfriend swears its the best he’s ever had. Creamy with a tingle of tartness from the jam
