Had dinner at Trattoria Boboli twice on our visit. Both visits were excellent. The prices were reasonable– dinner for two around 40 euro including 3 – 4 plates and a half liter of house wine. We dressed casually and the waiters spoke English and Spanish and were patient with our attempts at Italian. For antipasti I recommend the prosciutto & melon if it is in season. The tortellini with radicchio and the pasta tres colori were also very good. Quaint atmosphere, quick and friendly service, good food. It is a sure bet for a good dinner in Oltrarno.

My family and I was recommended this place by a local. From the outside, I would never have imagined that this little, narrow place would hide such a great experience. In generel Via Romana is not one of the glowing streets of Florence: through running traffic, less shops and a narrow pavement makes the street quite non-inviting. But though this little gem doesn’t look like much, you’ll be surprised! Ask for table in the courtyard. You will be lead through the restaurant, past the kitchen, up a flight of stairs, until you stand on the nicest, small terrace with rustic tables and herbs in flower boxes. Get seated surrounded by roof terraces, trees, plants and — of course — the Boboli Garden just next to you! This evening we had two waiters; something I would normally be a bit concerned about, since this often ends up with mistakes caused by missing communication. But this night ended up with no worries. The waiters were extremely nice and hospitable, and they were ready with recommendations for the perfect meal. Despite a great amount of(pasta-)dishes on the menucard(which normally makes me nervous about the quality — tourist traps has definitely made its mark on me…) the food was really great. Maybe it was caused by the simple dish-variations, which each consisted of only a few ingredients and would make it possible for the chefs to cook tasty, and fresh, dishes? No matter what, it tasted great and as an added plus, the pasta was homemade. Also the portions were solid, rustic and just perfectly well-made. Homemade Italian food when it’s definitely best. It was so good, that we just had to return for lunch the next day. And it was just as satisfying as the night before. Just thinking of the warm night, sitting on this terrace and enjoying the fresh air and the sound of the city in the background, makes me wanna go back. And I definitely will, when returning to Florence again.

Very good ravioli meri cernia con pomodorini e basilico, which was a special for the evening. The waitress was attentive and sang while pacing the restaurant – seems to be quite happy working here. Love the handwritten specials!

Was recommended to us, service was OK… food was good, not wow, just good and prices we’re very fair in my opinion, good solid hidden spot!

Average by Italian standards. Near the Pitti Palace so the location is convenient. The staff is less than stellar. The food is on a par with other local trattorias.

Named this like for being adjacent to the Boboli Gardens. This restaurant is on the opposite side of the river from Florence’s main attractions. This neighborhood and Piazza Spirito I feel are the perfect place to enjoy Florence the way it was intended to be. The menus are handwritten and both the new owner(the original one passed away recently) and his wife spoke excellent English and were extremely accommodating. We came here 3 of 4 days in Rome. Once for a snack, once for lunch, and once for dinner. Each time was great. There was a large wine selection and some really relaxing reggae music playing in the background. The wifi was strong, the restaurant was cool despite no A/C, food plentiful. I didn’t know there was a garden here until the last night— you are taken through the kitchen area up stairs to a garden patio area which definitely has a romantic feel. Everyone inside or out seemed to enjoy the quiet atmosphere, the great service, and the great food. Things we had to eat: Prosciutto with melon — LARGE portion. Melon was perfectly ripe and prosciutto soft and salty. Buffalo Mozz and tomatoes– LARGE portion and the mozz was just as good as I had in Naples Orange Lemon Ravioli — just enough to fill you up. Creamy with a citrus flavor that was not overpowering Pasta w/Deer meat Tortellini — can’t remember which kind, but it was great Chicken and argula I can’t remember the rest, but I do remember not being disappointed. Highly reccommend!

We walked around small streets until we stumbled upon this restaurant. This place is small n intimate. Serves authentic Florentine dishes. «Tutto bene»!
