Palazzo Guicciardini

This is a great hotel experience in Florence. Palazzo Guicciardini is the former home of an Italian noble family and each room has frescoes on the walls and ceiling. The entire home was purchased last year and renovated into a hotel. If you can stay here, especially if you can get a good rate from an online site such as
, then do it.
The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is also a very quiet hotel, with no street noise, something that you’ll appreciate in Florence, especially if you have jet lag. The hotel is located on very quiet via Santo Spirito, just across the river. This might be a hike if you arrive by train or bus, but the location is perfect. First, south of the river is by far less touristy; you have more of a chance of eating with the locals. You can very easily get a good, reasonable meal at nearby Piazza Santo Spirito.
Second, you can easily enter and leave «downtown» Florence each day across the nearby Ponte Vecchio. The Uffizi and other sites are just a short walk away.
After I checked out, they were very glad to hold my bag for the day. When I returned in the evening to pick it up, they were quick to offer coffee if I wanted it, use of a rest room, etc. They are just that friendly.

L’hôtel est magnifique: c’est un palais, et aujourd’hui chaque pièce du premier étage est transformée en chambre: c’est pour cela qu’il n’y en a que 8. Les chambre sont donc gigantesque autant en surface qu’en volume: le plafond doit être à 5 voire 6 mètres du sol ! Et les chambres sont aussi magnifiques: bien décorées, avec les murs et les plafond peints. Le personnel est génial aussi: et ils parlent presque tous Anglais, et certains Français.
Le seul point faible pourrait être l’isolation sonore des fenêtres mais cela reste très correct pour dormir.

My wife and I stayed for a total of 4 days and was one the best hotel experiences we ever had.
Its a little pricey, but I don’t blame them. They’re in demand and they should be.
The hotel itself was a marvel, as it was what appears to be a remnant of a old palazzo: with renovated but charm left behind fixtures and room setups. There are various sizes to the each room, and they were limited to I believe less than 10 rooms total.
Ambience was perfect, with a touch of dreamy, ethereal atmosphere with their on ceiling paintings and furniture setups. The décor resonated their history. My wife was in a good mood the whole time, and that makes the experience even better. Your wife/​girlfriend will love it.
They have a 24 hour person on the desk and food/​room service until 12am. Breakfast was staple Italian breakfast, however was pretty good. Lighting was automated and even though they had the charm, the whole place was modern.
The location was great, being on the quiet side of the firenze but still easily walkable to the city square. The surrounding restaurants were also authentic and the staff can even schedule you reservations if you like.

No issue came up and the staff was very helpful, kind and accommodating without being pushy. They are the standard hotels should aspire to.

So many good things about this hotel. Great location, close to all the historic sights, close to a garage if driving in with reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and spoke English. Rooms are astounding, tasteful modern upgrades that work with the historic surroundings. Attention to detail in the décor is very evident. Beautiful 15^th century original frescos in the rooms add another level above other hotels to this place. Not everyday you can stay in a historic palace! This place emanates old world luxury and grandeur.
Two major negatives which prevent me from giving 5 stars:
Wifi signal can be rather weak in some rooms since the routers seem mostly to be in the lobby. If each room had a access point with good wifi, that would be a big plus and frankly should be not an issue given the price.
Second, the name can cause confusion when attempting to locate. If you type in Palazzo Guicciardini, you get no less than 3 separate locations on google maps. Apparently there is also another Palazzo Guicciardini near Via de Guicciardini which is NOT this hotel. Also there is a garden of Palazzo Guicciardini nearby but not exactly the right location.
