L’Affresco is a local Gastonomia(Gastronomy) that I came across completely by accident. When I looked up what Gastronomy meant(because at first it sounded to me like a mix between an illness and a science) I found that it really means : 1. the practice or art of choosing, cooking, and eating good food. the cookery of a particular area. At L’affresco you will eat really good Tuscan food. When I walked in it smelled like grandma’s kitchen. NOw, I came here completely by chance because I was in the area and I was looking for an internet point and the two bars here in Piazza della Liberta’ where I go for internet and a caffe’ BOTH were having Wifi Technical problems … so when I walked by L’Affresco(a place that I’ve walked by a thousand times) and saw an ILLY coffee sign, I thought hmmm where there is coffee, there could be WiFi and … I was right! Wahooo FAst Wifi … a rarity these days for me. When I walked into the back room where I plopped down my gear: computer, coats, purse etc. I thought wow this place is really cute, how come I’ve never came here before? It’s so close to where I live and so I looked at all the vintage photographs of Firenze, famous people eating spaghetti … this place is nice super cute. The two people behind the counter took my order right away and gave me the code for the wifi, very nice people! Even though I already ate lunch, after 20 minutes of seeing all the other customers around me with their amazingly looking/smelling food, I couldn’t resist… Yuup … I had a second lunch; 0 Their food is so good, I highly recommend the ribollita or one of the lasagna dishes AND they have a bunch of fresh cooked veggies, bean soups, meats and cheeses, it all looks so good. If you don’t eat meat, you can still put together a great meal here. The ribollita has no animal product and there are a ton of sides to put together all of which are animal free ;) Yay !! If you are visiting Florence for the first time(or tenth) and want to taste some traditional Tuscan dishes, while you surf the web AND people watch in a place that is full of local Florentines pausing for a lunch break and catching up with friends … L’Affresco’s is your place.
