I just love this place. When I studied abroad in Florence 11 years ago it was called gusto panino, now it’s gusto osteria. But regardless of the name it’s still wonderful. The people are friendly, the food reliable and the calm atmosphere outside of tourist central is necessary. In fact when I asked the waitress if I could buy a carafe as a momento when I was here, to remind me of my time here over a decade ago, she and the owner gave it to me as a gift. It’s just a lovely spot to relax. And their antipasto plates(and crostini con artichokes) are delicious.

One of my favorite places to eat for lunch! The food is delicious and affordable, and the staff is very friendly! Positives: Their sandwiches are delicious! They have a wide variety to choose from, all for very good prices. The location is not as crowded as many other places in Florence, so you avoid a lot of waiting and there are not as many tourists. Negative: Their selection of take-away sandwiches is very limited(only a cheeseburger or a chicken sandwich), but both choices are very tasty! I also recommend their sister restaurant, Gusta Pizza, and although I have yet to try Gusta Osteria I would assume it is delicious as well!

I dig this place. Piazza Santo Spirito has something going for it, and this is definitely part of that feel. Great sandwiches, plenty of options, good ingredients, and a massive, fatty sandwich at the end of it all. They can get a little impatient if you’re trying to order in Italian, but show up a few times and they begin to take an interest in you. The good: awesome sammies. The bad: yes, you’re about to pay 8 Euro for a sandwich. Pro tip: if you look American and speak Italian, listen to what they’re saying. It usually involves you. :)

I eat lunch here almost everyday and I have never had a bad sandwich. The cute man who works there always does a great job and is always friendly! Best place to get a quick sandwich and go eat it on the steps of Santo Spirito in the sun! Always add truffle cream

Great place at the start of the very nice Piazza Santo Spirito. There are many nice places on this Piazza — last time we arrange to meet there 6 people. My 3 friends where there first getting warmed up with nice cocktail and beer. When the last 3 of us came, the waiters where great getting us served quickly with everything. They had good suggestions for us, so we tried something new — 3 small starters, 3 different pasta and more next, ending with great meat! Tiramisu & coffee enjoyed after!

Finally decided to try this place today after passing by it so many times! You can either sit down or take-away from Gustapanino, but I decided to have my panini to-go. You have a choice of a focaccia or piadina type panini; I went for the focaccia style today. They have different types of bread & I went for the pesto; GO for the pesto! This place is the only one I know with that kind of bread offered for a sandwich. There’s a menu where you can select what you want in your sandwich for between 3 – 4 euros(so worth it) and they toast it right in front of you. I got the sandwich with the spicy salami, eggplant, provolone cheese for 3 euro and it was SO yummy for the price and what you get. If you want any extra ingredients, they charge 1 euro for each one. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a snack-like panini for cheap. I wouldn’t come here everyday, but it’s worth checking out.

We were highly recommended Gusta and it did not disappoint. The place is intimate romantic sometimes loud and boisterous They must have good intuition because we gave them our order and the pizza was ready moments later The crust was crispy the cheese was perfect and the arugula fresh and peppery Just fantastic Gusto provided a prelude to one of the most beautiful moments Sunset on the Arno Molto buono

A-OK. It’s a strong 3– maybe even a 4 some days. Get a panini and a glass of wine, go sit on the steps of the church in the square, and reflect on how civilized Italy can be at times(and how stupid container laws in ‘freedom loving’ America truly are). When done, place sandwich wrapper in garbage can and return your glass to the restaurant. Continue with day or go get an espresso. This is just a simple sandwich shop with decent prices that will make your panini to order. All the 5-star reviews are mostly study abroad students excited(understandably) to be in Florence and declaring everything is «OMG best ever!» to everything(it’s new and exciting I know, but I’m old and grumpy and wish I was 20 again doing a semester in Italy). So stop here for lunch. It’s good and it will make you happy. You might even exclaim ‘OMG best sandwich ever!’

Similar to just about any other sandwich shop, except less crowded and better prices :) The sandwiches and drink selection were awesome and delicious! Studying here in Florence, this shop is definitely on my top list.

I really don’t get what all the hype is about Gustapanino. It’s a simple sandwich, not much else to it. Granted I’m a vegetarian but my carnivorous foodie extraordinaire wasn’t wow’ed by his sandwich either. I would opt for Gustopizza around the corner instead for nearly the same price.

Gustapanino was a favorite during my study abroad days in Florence so I had to come back on my recent visit. To put it simply: quality ingredients, reasonable prices and good portions. We kept trying to find something similar on the rest of our trip and were always disappointed. There is nothing like picnicking with a fresh panino and a Coke in Piazza S. Spirito. Also check out the farmers market in the square. Visited September 2011

This quaint little sandwich shop was just down the street from my school in Florence… and I will admit ALL of us students were obsessed! In fact you would probably see quite a few pictures of us on the walls. Almost every day I would grab lunch here. Turkey, Pesto, Tomato on a Wheat bun. I can’t tell you how amazing and fresh it is! Also the staff is sooo friendly and hilarious! Grab a sandwich and sit on the steps of the church across the piazza!- I promise you will enjoy!
