This was our favorite gelato spot in Florence and perhaps in Italy. I don’t think you can go wrong here — fresh, delicious, not too expensive. If you’re near the river shopping or going to a museum, you must stop here.

Continuing my search for gelato. I ordered the pistachio and coffee and both were too sweet. I understand that gelato is a dessert and it should be sweet but there are different types of sweetness! This was pure sugar.

Especially if you are going from the Uffizi area to Santa Croce or vice-versa, you have to stop by for a gelato break at Gelateria dei Neri! Heck, you don’t really need a reason to come. This place got one of the biggest selections of gelato flavors out there, and yet all the choices taste so good. Whether you want to play safe or go bold with your flavors, you can’t really go wrong. I really recommend grabbing a cup or a cone here! Plus, this place has indoor seating in an AC environment with restroom, so seriously, take a break from the Tuscan sun and enjoy a nice gelato to refresh yourself so you can better explore Florence better. Yum gelato…

Skip all the other touristy gelato places and do yourself a favor and GOHERE! We happened upon this place making our way back across the bridge, and after a few days of eating at different gelato places near the duomo, we were pretty happy. But we didn’t know that gelato could get this good. It was also really cheap, and they weren’t trying to take advantage of tourists who didn’t know better. We got the mango, passion fruit and cheesecake mixed and it was absolutely delicious. Fruity and creamy without being overly sweet or sickeningly indulgent. My tastebuds thanked me and so will yours. This is definitely a hidden gem in Florence, somewhat away from the most touristy parts of town.

One of my favorites! Recommended by locals and did not disappoint. Small seating area, but could be sweeter since there is actually an interior. However, the gelato is so good, it gets all the free passes it needs. I got the salted caramel, 1 scoop and this was full of flavor. Really one of the best spots we tried in Italy!

This was definitely the best gelato we had in Florence. It is super creamy and the flavors were great! The service was also the best service we’ve had — the people there were so friendly and helpful.

Wow. This was the first gelato we had in Florence and were struggling to find better. The pistachio is UNREAL. This is right down the street from the Antico Vinaio and if you’re there, do not forget to stop here. There’s seating inside and there’s a solid mix of locals and Unilocalers.

I had some time to kill before my AirBnB from hell* was ready so, I figured, it was time for gelato. As you may recall from my previous Florence review, I was traveling with all my baggage and it was hard to get around. I needed a bit more space, some A/C and something sweet to follow my sandwich and wine. Forgoing Unilocal to use my eyesight, I ‘found’ this gelateria. Verifying that I wanted to go in(this time using my Unilocal app), I lumbered into the dining room, plopped myself down and looked about the place. I felt so uncomfortably American. The staff couldn’t help but look at me with revulsion and pity but they got it together in time to paint on a smile and ask what I would like. Although I came in wanted something creamy, I decided on something crisp. I asked for a cup of green melon and mandarin orange — and a water(in case I needed to cut the sweetness). I spent 4 euros on my haul. I shouldn’t have worried. The icy delight was expertly made. My selections were not at all cloying. They were refreshing, freshly-made and bright as the sun in their flavor profile. There was no doubt that this was made with real, fresh fruit. I sipped my water as I means of slowing down my inhalation of the cold stuff. This was what I needed to relax for a quick moment. There was space enough to pile my bags about me without worry that I was in someone’s way or that they’d be stolen. The room was bright, airy and cool(from A/C). The employees(erring on the side of pity) were smiley and patient. The only negative thing I noted was that it was difficult for me to get a phone signal but on further thought a.) maybe that’s not a negative and b.) perhaps that wasn’t by accident. Had I stayed in Florence, I would have returned here. Alas, poor Firenze, I barely knew ye. *I did not know what awaited me.

Solid gelateria with some interesting flavors I hadn’t seen so far in Italy. They charged 50euro cents extra for panna… that was unpleasant, but seating was free unlike some other gelaterias. The gelato was perhaps a bit dense, on the creamier side. The mandorla(almond) was really great; it tasted almost like almond butter. The cremino ricotta e pistaccio was a bit too sweet overall, the pistaccio cream was cloying. They did have plain pistacchio flavor, perhaps it’s less sweet. The cioccolato mascarpone e pera was interesting, with bits of pear mixed into the creamy mascarpone base.

My favorite gelato place in Italy. Very nice staff. Also, the biscotti was really great, and they have a nice hot tea selection. They were also open late, which was helpful.

Life changing gelato. Really, this is the absolute best gelato I have ever had. This place is amazing on every single front. He gelato is spectacular. I tried he pistachio, the neri chocolate and the ricotta and fig. All equally phenomenal. I also stole some bites from the kids & my husband’s, including Nutella, caramel, stracciatella and hazelnut. I can’t wait to return and have more! In additional to their amazing gelato, the service was great, with a charming man who helped us try and pick the best flavours. The price is also very affordable, as you can choose smaller sizes to fit your budget. 5 stars — Grazie Mille!

Absolutely delicious gelato. I came with a group and we tasted the chocolate, vanilla and stracciatella(a creamy chocolate chip flavor). All were amazing, creamy, just sweet enough and full of flavor. The shop is small, but there are a few seating areas so you can enjoy in-shop. Will definitely be coming back, it’s also close to many good restaurants so it’s perfect for an after-dinner treat!

We came here as it was a Lonely planet guide recommendation and it was absolutely worth it. between my friends, we tried a fair few variety(chocolate, pistachio and coconut) and for me, the coconut ice-cream is absolutely amazing and won hands-down. This place should absolutely be on your must-viist list when in Florence.

While in Florence I was in a search for great gelato. I will say it’s good at most places and you’ll leave with a smile. This place, however, leaves you with a smile, pep in your step and music in your heart. It was close to the bridge we took after the piazzale Michelangelo. Easy for us to find and convenient we stopped in. This place is recommended by trip advisor, Rick Steves and Unilocal. They were spot on. Delicious and full of Italians, the not tourist kind. I had the hazelnut and was duly impressed.

DON’T be tricked by the tourist trap mile-high gelato places… they are overpriced and lower quality. The colder temperature required to keep those fascinatingly tall stacks of tourist gelato actually goes against the proper tradition of serving gelato slightly warmer than ice cream. This place is the REALDEAL. It’s the local-favorite and especially the student-favorite. Prices are comparable to gelato we found all over Italy, but they offer an even cheaper smaller option here than most places. This was probably the best quality gelato I tried in all of Italy. There were other places I liked in other cities for their overall experience and unique qualities and flavors, but in terms of gelato quality and flavor alone, this is the clear #1. Their mango is life-changing if you like mango. Fragola(strawberry) is also very good, as well as bacio. If you’re in Florence make sure you go here!

Delicious ice cream in a nice cone, a few minute walk from the busier squares. Very well priced — 2 € for 3 scoops. Recommend the yogurt, nut and honey as well as the caramel(be warned not ice cream!). Would recommend compared with some of the more touristy traps

During my two weeks in Italy, I ate gelato every single day. I can’t even believe it, but it’s true. Gelato: I ordered a scoop of Crema de Giotto y Fragola in a cone(1.80 euros). The scoops were amazingly generous, the gelato was the best ever and the price was dirty cheap, needless to say… dei Neri was my favorite gelato place in all of Italy. Crema de Giotto was amazing, it was creamy, nutty and a good balance of sweet/savory due to the proportion of vanilla and hazelnut. Fragola(strawberry) was so fresh and delicious… I had fragola everywhere I went and this one really tasted like they had just picked strawberries from a field… I am not kidding. The cone was crunchy and delicious. Price: Dirt cheap, you get a lot of ice cream. seriously skip the cup. you will get way more out of the cone. Tip: Eat it quick, it will melt and because they give you a lot… it will get all over your hands. Ambiance: Small, very busy, line will be out the door, but it moves super fast and it is definitely worth the wait. Service: Even though the place was crowded, the service was great. They were extremely patient with me and gave me a ton of samples and I never felt rushed. The woman answered all of my questions regarding what each flavor contained, etc. Overall: This was my favorite place because the gelato was the best I’ve ever had, service was great and the price was just perfect… especially for being in Italy. I highly recommend Gelateria dei Neri.

After a full lunch, we walked to our next destination: gelato. My sister claimed this to be one of the best gelato shops she’s been to. It was only a brief stroll down the dei Neri from lunch. There were maybe 5 or 6 small tables inside, so seating isn’t exactly plentiful. We ordered a gelato and a caffe latte from the bar. We got three«balls» of gelato in our small cup: Rose petal, green tea and coffee. The latte was 1.50 € and the gelato was 2.50 €. The gelato was amaaaaazing. You don’t find Rose petal gelato everywhere, so we try to order it when we can. The caffe latte was smooth and creamy, and came in a cute and modern cup. Overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon snack. One of the best gelato shops we’ve been to in Florence.

I was scrolling the streets of Florence and stumbled across this gelato shop and I am so thankful I did! It was definitely one of the tastier gelatos I’ve had in Italy! I had the strawberry cheesecake and the coconut gelato and they were both really creamy and filled with flavor! They even had bits of fruits and pieces in them too that made it even more delicious! The location of this shop is great too because it’s really near the tourist areas, but it isn’t a tourist trap at all! They offered a lot of variety of different flavors and other desserts if you’re not into gelato. The pricing was really good and the customer service was really nice. The inside of the shop is a lot bigger than other Italian restaurants and they offered a lot of seats inside for you to sit and relax too. Definitely a must try when you visit Florence!

Beste Eisdiele in ganz Florenz.
