Great family run business in historical center! I’ve been here many times and i can always count on good food and great service.

While convenient, this place isn’t good at all when it comes to the quality of their food. The service is terrible. Slow service is good service in Italy… Inattentive and forgetful is NOT. The latter certainly denotes this place. I was sorry I wasted my money here, and will NOT be back.

One of my, if not my favorite meal in Florence. The service was impeccable. The owners are delightful. Each course was prepared immaculately and paired with an amazing wine. This is a must visit while in Florence you will not be disappointed.

My son and I ate at Francesco each day we were in Florence. The best ingredients, prepared in ways so as to layer flavor upon flavor. The service was perfect for us — well paced, unhurried, yet always something to eat on the table. Delicious wines by the glass — the Sauvignon Blanc is superb. My highest recommendation.

We ate outside at this restaurant and it was fantastic! Service was prompt, attentive, appreciated our attempts to speak Italian and still spoke English to close the gap for us. The food was excellent and went perfectly with the wine(we had a Black Rooster certified 100% Sangiovese Chianti wine that was delicious!). Everything for this meal from the appetizer, to the bread and olive oil all the way through the wine was delicious. Don’t miss this restaurant in Florence!

Excellent. Looks unassuming from the outside, but the food is excellent and the service is good, without vibes. The wild boar is something else.

Best meal in Florence. Ambience: A nice place for a romantic dinner or one with a bunch of friends. Service: I went twice and the first time there were plenty of waiters so service was very prompt, but the second time they only had two and they were very over-worked. But like the owner himself, everyone was friendly and happy to offer advice to(yet another) tourist. Food: I was simply blown away by the paparedelle in wild boar ragu. One of the best dishes I have ever had. I went back a second night to try something else then gave in and had it again. The pasta was fresh and the ragu had huge chunks of meat in a delectable sauce. A good wine selection and they make a perfect bellini. Price: Like most places in Florence, dirt cheap for the quality you get. If I ever come back to Florence this will be a must-see.

I’m so glad I came here! Had dinner on my last night in Firenze, what a treat! It’s a husband wife owned restaurant. Both owners are super cute and friendly. The wife is from the states and is so sweet! She gave us some great recommendations and knows her vini! And a great bar rec to hang out after! Loved her! The risotto and steak were cooker perfectly. I also devoured the tiramisu in a minute. YUMYUM! Highly recommend this spot! Will definitely be returning every time I come back :) Can I just live in Italia?!

Sitauted above the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre in one of the oldest buildings in Florence, was the perfect way to experience my first dinner in Italy. I’m not a fan of seafood at all, but I took a gamble and followed the ‘when in Rome.’ saying(even though I was in Florence) and order the shrimp gnocchi in a tomato sauce. I found it a little un-nerving when faced with three dead shrimps staring back at me, with their eyes wide, but I told told to attack the dish and finally took delight in ripping their heads off and de-shelling and eating the sea beasties. The meal was beautiful, light and fresh. The creaminess of the tomato with the softness of the gnocchi and shrimp really complimented each other nicely. With so many tourist trap restaurants, this place is a real gem.

October 2012… My last day in Florence… Walking along borgo dei Greci in search for a lunch spot, I saw Francesco with a nice smile and was greeted with a grand ‘Buongiorno’. Great way to attract people for lunch. I sat al fresco and mentioned that I would like a traditional Florentine meal. He and the server Nicolo(Francesco jokingly told me to call him Machiavelli) gladly helped me with my menu. My meal: Bruschetta al Pomodoro — perfect portion and it was seasoned well. Tagliatelle ai funghi porcini — So simple and fresh! Tagliata di manzo with arugula and tomatoes — Cooked to a tender medium, beautifully grilled on the outside, red and juicy on the inside, Francesco said to put olive oil and a bit of SnP. Awesome! Schiatcchiata all’uva — Had to ask Nicolo to spell this one out. Glad to try something new as I would usually order a Tiramisu or panna cota. It’s like a sweet focaccia bread with grapes baked in it. Each grape still popping with juice! Very refreshing. Limoncello — to settle things down and end a great meal They took their time serving each course and I happily waited as it made me confident that each dish was made fresh. Slow service is Good service in Europe and I was on vacation… so I was glad to savour every minute of my meal and people watch. I shook Francesco’s hand and said(with my very limited Italian) «It was my last day in Firenze and thank you for a very memorable meal.» With the same smile that reeled me into the restaurant he said«Piacere di conoscerti»(nice to meet you) — that’s one to add on my phrasebook. Excellent service, great food and beautiful location. Will definitely come back here in a heartbeat!

This restaurant is located in one of the oldest buildings in Florence over the ruins of a Roman amphitheater, and specializes in typical Tuscan dishes such as Florentine beef. It’s located on a side street off of the Piazza della Signoria, a public square which features a variety of statues by Renaissance artists.(It’s the street directly behind the statue of Neptune in this square. In fact, from the outdoor patio of Francescovini you have a lovely view of Neptune’s butt at the end of the street. In case you didn’t know, Florence has a lot of statues of nude men.) This restaurant had been recommended to us by one of the locals as a place to go for a good steak, so my husband and I split a huge bistecca alla Florentine between us(medium rare, of course), along with a side of roasted potatoes.(Four-course dinners are usually the norm in Italy, but we had already had a large three-course lunch that day and wanted to have enough room to do justice to dinner.) The steak was everything we had been promised — tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Francescovini also prides itself on its vast wine cellar, which carries over 100 labels from the Tuscan region, such as Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, and Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
