A surprise strike by the air control folks at FCO delayed my return to NYC. Staying at airport Hilton so I can catch the 6:40 flight in the morning. Hesitate to go all the way to Rome, I decided to explore some local food — seafood. FCO happens to near the ocean. Fiumicino is the nearby town. The cabby — appears to be a local lad — recommended the seafood place that he would take his girlfriend and commented that this is a «old place». The starter I had is the raw seafood platter. I tasted some of the best, FRESH shrimps ever. Rich texture. Almost creamy. And then the local oysters. Wow, meaty, briny. Then I had a plate of clam spaghetti. Again, fresh. The clams were beautiful. I thought about bringing back the shells when done. Lol. I would come again and recommend others who has to stay near the airport.
