All the pizzas are excellent and if you come for dinner try this steak with truffle sauce, amazing! Note this place is worth the drive, however Unilocal currently has the address wrong. So use tripadvisor to get the proper address until updated, otherwise you’ll and up in very strange place in the middle of nowhere on the other side of pergo.

Castel Girardi was the best restaurant we found during our weeklong stay in Cortona, and the only restaurant we visited twice. We had good to great experiences in all six restaurants we tried in the Cortona area, but we thought Castel Girardi was best for both food and venue.
The steak with truffle sauce was one of the most memorable plates I’ve ever been served. Pastas and simple dishes such as Tuscan beans and Caprese salads were executed to perfection. The wine list presented outstanding value.
The venue cannot be beat with a pleasant loggia and views of Lake Trasimeno beyond the Esse Valley. It is a multi-​generational, family-​run restaurant and they are very flexible and accommodating. As a bonus, they are open all afternoon, while all the other restaurants are closed from 2:00pm into the evening.
We can’t understand why Castel Girardi isn’t higher rated on the dining websites. We place it #1.
