Very rude staff. For our last night in Venice, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice Italian restaurant and spend our left over money on extravagant dishes. We were welcomed by a male server who sat us not far from another English speaking couple. The restaurant was not busy, which was normal since it was mid-January. Since the server was being nice and joking with the next door table all the while speaking English, we thought we would have the same joyful treatment when he comes to take our order. Oh boy was I wrong! The male server was bitter and each time he opened his spoke, he also frowned as us. I asked about the seafood pasta dishes I have seen coming out he kitchen, brought directly from the cooks to the tables, but the answer was incomprehensible and he refused to repeat himself. I resigned and just said I wanted one of it. Then I asked if what there was in the mixed grilled meat, because we don’t really like lamb or veal and wanted to make sure it was not part of the mix. The server’s answer was«different meats, that’s it» with an attitude like he was super annoyed by our presence in the restaurant. At that point, I couldn’t take it anymore. We just stood up and left the restaurant. I was disgusted and that experience ruined my trip to Venice. I’m sure they are not against tourists because the server was super nice to English speaking people at the table next to us, but I think it may have been racism. Maybe they don’t like Asian people in that restaurant. I cannot review their food, which looked delicious by the way, but we can definitely review their service, which was extremely rude. One thing for sure, I will never recommend this place to any of my friends or colleagues who are planning to visit Venice this summer. Also, apparently, if you’re Asian, stay away from it.

Great neighborhood restaurant. Service was friendly and the food was classic and tasty. I had the gnochetti with veggies and the sauce was delicious and veggies perfectly cooked. The bf had a pizza with prosciutto and it was good. I would come back here for a great setting service and food!

A great option in a local neighborhood of San Croce. Lots of locals out enjoying the good weather and a spritz. We had Veal Marsala — very favourful, and prosciutto and melon — excellent. Along with a green salad — good, and pasta bolognese — very good. The service was also very good and reasonable prices for Venice. A local spot that is tourists would do well by visiting

The food was just okay here. Took forever for the server to speak to us but then the food came out in less than 5 minutes, We ordered a bottle of wine but they were out of the one ordered. The server brought a different bottle out to substitute but never mentioned that it was 40% more expensive than the one ordered. The table next to us also ordered a bottle of wine that they were out of but were smart enough to ask if the«suggested wine» was more expensive. It was. Just seems to be the wrong way to increase a check size.

I’ve been in Venice three times: twice in the summer and then once during the winter. Of all these trips, my January trip was the best! Italy was a different experience altogether. It makes sense, as the rest of the year the cities are packed with– and basically overwhelmed by– tourists; so this review is true for an almost empty Taverna Capitan Uncino, into which myself and a couple of Catalan friends walked in to find some of the friendliest servers(and restaurant owners) I’ve ever come across. The food was great: we had a baked fish that was very tasty & fresh and then some home made pasta that was also very good. For dessert we had a(apparently very popular in the Veneto) drink made with yellow lemon and sparkling wine. It looks like and even has the consistency of a vanilla shake, but tastes very differently! If someone reading this knows what I’m talking about, I’d appreciate it if you share the name with me. A good lunch made better by the company and then absolutely memorable by the restaurant staff. That’s a new one everywhere, I guess, but unheard of in Italy! I guess this place offers a different experience the rest of the year but, in winter, we felt like we struck gold!

Toller Laden, sehr empfehlenswert!
