What a gem of a place ! Well worth the drive out of Sligo especially for it’s breakfast. The full Irish is Devine. Proper rashers, sausage, pudding, two fried eggs, tomato, special toast and beautiful beans served in a separate bowl. We had to wait 20 mins for our table but it was worth it. Breakfast served till 1pm. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED !

Well. Did I go to Sligo expecting to find The World’s Best Salad?! No I did not. Did I like it so much that I returned three times in TWODAYS to get THESAMESALAD?! Yes. Yes I did. Roll call for The World’s Best Salad: It was their seasonal salad that’s written up on the board. Goats cheese, candied walnuts, greenery, I got some chicken on top(gotta have that protein!), and the kicker, fresh strawberries with their homemade balsamic. The combination of flavours and textures are exquisite. I dare you to try it and say that it’s not The World’s Best Salad. Dare ya. Besides the food(which genuinely might be the best café food I’ve eaten in Ireland), the staff are incredibly friendly. Honestly it felt like eating in a friend’s house. So hospitable, and chatty, and even though you will nearly always have to wait for a table, they are so damn nice, you really don’t care. Plus, you can wait in their shop area next door — a cunning plan of theirs, as it’s stocked with so much cool stuff, you’ll likely spend your money there before you even sit down for food. But the kicker is, the stuff is SO cool, you won’t care!(Pro tip; I got a bottle of their balsamic vinegar which is insanely good(and insanely addictive — you’ve been warned!)

Homemade and hearty would be the best words to describe the delicious food served in Shell’s. I’ve been here several times and it’s always my number one choice to bring friends and family when they visit. It’s cosy and has amazing views. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service is efficient and friendly. The food is cooked to perfection and my favourite choices on the menu would be the Eggs and Soldiers for breakfast, calamari salad for lunch and either the chicken burger or the fish and chips for dinner. The food is really tasty and it’s impossible to find a restaurant in sligo that meets the standards that shells has. The perfect spot for lunch on a Saturday after climbing Knocknarea.

My favorite spot in Strandhill. Best fish & chips I have ever eaten. Excellent service, wonderful staff, delicious food, damn good coffee. Shells is pure tops.

My family and I have been here many times since it’s opened. It’s a very nice place in a great location. Really good for getting breakfast or lunch. The food is very good and the waiting staff are friendly and professional. The only criticisms would be the lack of a proper waiting area(it’s very popular and there are often queues out the door with people waiting to be seated which isn’t so nice on rainy days) and that the menu could do with a few changes or additions, it’s quite short and while the food is great it’s been the same for months, we’ve literally tried everything by now.

We stumbled on this café while on the beach and it was perfect! Super cute, only had to wait about 5 min for a table. Service was friendly and quick. The desserts are fabulous and there is a great little store attached with souvenirs and gourmet food items.

I love this place! It’s the perfect café in the perfect place. The food is all homemade and delicious. Like the baked beans for example aren’t heinz, they’re baked in Shell’s own tomato based sauce. Yum! They have a lovely range of Breakfast options and then Sanwiches and Salads for lunch. They offer lovely homely comforts like egg and soldiers. The coffee is awesome. The décor is possibly even the best bit. It’s blue and white, floral and cute. I love that they always have little homemade decorations hanging around the place. Like one week I was there they had cute newspaper cut-out lovehearts hanging on a string, a couple of weekends later it was mini-bunting. This might sound tacky but it’s really not. If you’re in Sligo, definitely worth making a trip.

I am head over heels for this place, it is the No. 1 reason that I wish I was a Strandhill local. The veggie breakfast here is pheNOM. I always leave here with a smile on my face and a satisfied belly. Prepare to queue as this place is always jammed. It really proves that there is a market for cafés such as this in Sligo, it’s been a while coming so I’m enjoying it now that its finally here. I’m only aggrieved as I live on the other side of Sligo town! I grudgingly have taken a star off because when I have been there, it has been chilly/or we’ve been sitting in a draft, particularly the tables near the counter — as a door at the back is opened(probably to let the heat out of the kitchen), and I do have trouble with my back. Some blankets could probably sort this out.

Excellent lunch plus coffee and cake with beach view. Sunshine made it 5 stars. Totally deserves it.

Brilliant seaside café in Strandhill village. One of their chefs worked in the Cake Café in Dublin when it initially opened, so you are guaranteed only the best home baking. Staff are always very friendly, and Jane is always around for a catch up. It’s really busy at weekends with surfers and families galore, but is the best place in Sligo to get a Sunday hangover brunch. Eggs & Soldiers is my fav! They do take away stuff too, as well as special food and craft evenings throughout the year. It’s brought a lovely sparkle to the village.
