Sandymount Psychotherapy provides evidence based psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and counseling in Dublin, Ireland for women and men who want to make life and body change. Here you will find a safe, confidential space where you can explore, heal and grow. Also providing a unique approach to weight loss therapy. There is so much great information out there and numerous different diets /​fitness programs etc, but really the struggle to lose weight is actually a psychological issue for so many people. Sandymount Psychotherapy utilises CBT & mindfulness techniques to address food habits and behaviours instead of imposing restrictive diet programs. Through adjusting your habits you will experience a new joyous relationship with food– weight loss will be a happy consequence!

A registered psychologist, with an MSc in Psychotherapy from the UCD School of Medicine, an MA in Addiction Studies and over ten years formal training within the field of mental health. I am a Registered Practitioner member of the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Ireland and a lecturer at the UCD School of Psychotherapy. No two people are alike, so I tailor my approach to your specific needs.

Using evidence based treatment for people who experience a range of mental health difficulties including psychoanalytic techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and mindfulness based strategies

Business Owner

Karina Melvin is a Psychologist, with an MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the UCD School of Medicine, an MA in Addiction Studies and almost ten years of formal training within the field of mental health. She loves to work with adults and children experiencing a wide range of issues, but she specialises in helping people who experience struggles with their weight, body image and confidence and those who wish to lose weight.

Karina is actively engaged in the field of mental health and continues with ongoing study, research and training. She lectures in Psychotherapy at the UCD School of Medicine in St Vincent’s Hospital and is a Registered Practitioner member of the association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Ireland and the Irish School of Lacanian Psychoanalysis. She has presented at various conferences both here and in the UK and has been published within the field of psychoanalysis.
