Kerry Cliffs.

Kerry Cliffs are widely accepted as the most spectacular cliffs in Kerry. The cliffs stand over 1000ft above the wild Atlantic and were formed in a desert environment 400 million years ago. Out to the west stand the amazing Skellig Rocks one of only three UNESCO world heritage sites in Ireland. Of course the Kerry Cliffs are the closest viewing point to the great rocks and also the famous Puffin Island.

Allied with these facts as you stand at the summit of this mystical place and breath in the freshest of air, deep in to your lungs from the wild Atlantic and observe this natural wonder. You can relax and unwind and observe the majestic views from here which reach out for 30 miles of the surrounding areas.

Kerry Cliffs is a family run tourist attraction by us the O’Donoghue’s, here in Portmagee. The cliffs have been a viewing point for generations. A few short years ago we developed a walk way to the Cliffs and secured it for you safety. Today kerry cliffs are family friendly for you and your family to enjoy.

We came here in February around 4pm. There were no other tourists and it was slightly rainy. We parked the car as designated. There were signs saying to check in at the receptionist area. We paid and started on the trail to the top of cliff.
It was a dirt path with some gravels and not too steep. But as you get closer to the top of cliff, the wind picked up and it got progressively harder for us to move. We made it to the top and the view was really amazing, even with the fog and low visibility. Granted we haven’t been to Cliffs of Moher and had no comparison. The waves were crashing against the rocks below us and the wind made it feel like we were about to get pushed off the cliffs even though there was a fence. We estimated the wind to be about 25 mph at the top. It was really crazy! but that added to the fun and exhilaration of the experience.
There was one bench for those faint of heart and needed to not be right next to the fence. It was great. Wish we can see it again on a sunny day.
but on this particular day, we had Kerry Cliffs all to ourselves and it was really very memorable.

Excellent little surprise, the Kerry Cliffs.
We had noticed signs for the «The most spectacular cliffs in Kerry», a bold statement indeed and on our last day in Kerry we found ourselves driving passed said spectacular cliffs. I was already swooning over the views of Valentia Island, Portmagee and the surrounding landscape from up the road, so it was gonna take some doing to impress me further still.
Met by a jovial Kerry man, who appeared to live in a wooden covered seat while he manned the gate, we paid our 4 EUR each, parked up and walked the 10 mins to the cliffs.
I can honestly say, the cliffs are spectacular. As are the views, in every direction. There wasn’t many people here that day, so getting a good spot along the cliff front was easy peasy. And for the last few minutes we had the cliffs all to ourselves as the other people went back to their cars. Fabliss.
There is a sturdy new fence there to make sure no one goes over. And plenty of signs telling you not to climb the fence — you’d be mad to.
We saw signs for camping up by the cliffs and when we enquired we found out that the cost would be 12 EUR for two people and their tent. Reasonable enough and the view is amazing! Might be a bit windy up there though, even on a nice day like we had.
There was a café here too, but we didn’t go in. Toilets available also.
Highly recommended, especially on a clear day.

I wasn’t planning on visiting these cliffs, but on a whim followed a sign. It’s absolutely breathtaking and well worth the time and short uphill walk. I definitely captured some of my favorite photos in all of Ireland right here.
That said, the place gives off a really bad vibe with its advertisement of electrified fences, the eye-​level security cameras, and the dirty looks as you park.

You’ll be forgiven if you’ve never heard of «Kerry Cliffs», even if you’ve driven the Ring of Kerry before.
Situated on a tiny section of road along the Skellig Ring — an 18 km circular loop off the Ring of Kerry — this B&B, café and campground also boasts one of the finest cliff views in all of Co. Kerry. Although you’re not up nearly as high, on a clear day it almost rivals the views at the Cliffs of Moher, with the sheer cliffs and white foam below and the misty Skellig Islands in the distance.
Entrance is 4 €, which covers parking and «entrance» to the viewpoint; it’s about a 10 minute walk from the car park.
Afterwards, you can get 20% off in the adjacent café with your ticket, and the dining room offers fine views of the surrounding countryside. I didn’t sample any food, but the coffee is decent, and only 2 € for a takeaway latte.
