My husband asked our waiter the difference between two of the four fish choices for fish and chips. The waiter was unsure so he asked the head chef who was standing in the exposed kitchen. The chef responded to our poor waiter, «tell them they are fish,» while motioning his hand like a fish. Disappointing. Next while waiting for our food we watched the same chef stir a sauce, lick the stirring spoon and put the same spoon back in the sauce. Disgusting. I wouldn’t return.

Delicious food, especially the seafood chowder and crab claws. It was the best we are in Ireland all week. The owner was especially friendly and gave us recommendations on what to visit next. We loved it, and highly recommend it.

Great service, great food, clean and comfortable environment. The owner has his own fishing business so the fish is as fresh as it gets. The chef takes pride in the presentation. It is evident that everyone that works in this family run business gets along. Even the mom was pitching in to help, and the very pregnant wife. The building doesn’t have much of a street presence, but once inside, you are taken away into a world of great food.

This place is great. The food is fantastic and the view is awesome. Probably one of the best meals we’ve had in Galway during our visit. The owners were there(Family run business) and made a point of coming over and talking to each table. Don’t forget to check out the wine bar in the basement — very cool. The only constructive criticism I would give and the only reason I’m not giving it five stars is that every time the front door opened a blast cold air into the restaurant. Probably fixable by having two sets of doors.

What a fantastic surprise on the shore of Galway Bay. The restaurant has a beautiful view and offers fresh seafood that is served in creative ways. We loved our lunch so much that we returned for dinner the next day. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rachel is a particular delight.

Recently opened on the Salthill Prom, at the end of the Prom closer to the centre of Salthill. Had been meaning to give it a try for a while as we passed it, but finally got around to it last weekend. It’s funny how it looks quite plain(not sure of that’s the right word — maybe nondescript) from the outside, but then inside it’s bigger, warmer looking and far more classy than the exterior might have lead you to believe. We were eating there around 9 on a dirty, wet, cold Saturday night in January. The place is modern, bright and very nicely laid out. It turns out there’s also a large wine bar downstairs — we’ll file that for another day! Menu is simple: they have several options for classic fish and chips where you can choose from various types of fish to have as fish and chips(great idea), and you can also choose to have the fish cooked healthy as opposed to fried. We found this hard to resist and headed straight for some fish and chips as mains. We also ordered oysters and crab claws to start. Both were great: oysters(6) were delicious, fresh, served on ice with tobasco /vinegar on the side; crab claws were in garlic butter and served with brown bread. Yum. Anyway — seafood is centre-stage here, and did not disappoint(to be expected I guess from a place that owns their own fish shop). The mains were absolutely delicious(see photo) — fish cooked perfectly in the open kitchen just behind us. And of course, top notch chips :-) I really like this place, and reckon that during the Summer it will be hopping. I hope they keep the standards up as they succeed — it’s a great addition to the area.
