Went here on a recommendation of a cabbie. Best steak I ever had in my life. My friend had a butternut squash soup that was amazing. The wait/bar staff is friendly and gave us suggestions about other bars to check out.

Considering the reviews this place has, I was very disappointed. Chose to have the truffled macaroni and cheese side dish as a starter. It was ok, but I don’t think they understand this dish at all. It wasn’t creamy, or cheesy, it was dry… As a starter I was«meh» with it, but I’m delighted I didn’t order it for a main. I would have been highly unhappy. I then had the beef burger on a brioche bun. I LOVE brioche buns. That’s why I ordered it, otherwise I would have gone for something else. So, as it was put down in front of me, I realised it was NOT a brioche bun. Sorry? Either change your menu or knock off a few squid for giving me a floury bap. I said nothing as I was starving(let me get to that in a minute). I asked for some ketchup and was brought a wee tiny little dish. I reckon it had about a teaspoon worth of ketchup in it. Why??? The beef patty itself was delicious. Nicely caramelised on the outside and juicy in the middle. The fries were just on the verge of stone cold. deep joy and happiness. Cold French fries with tiny ketchup rations, even McDonalds can do better than this Now, we did not time the wait between starter and main, but it was close to an hour before receiving our mains.(a burger and dish of mucsles?) If I hadn’t of been so ravenous I would have complained a bit, but I just wanted to eat and move along. It kind of let the whole evening down as I need to let food sit before having a drink. By the time we finished up I really didn’t want to wait around for ages to let my tummy settle so I could have a drink.

Worst place to have a drink. Service non existent and you won’t be allowed to smoke on the terrace! Will never come back

I had high hopes for this restaurant but was disappointed. Our party of six was seated in the back room — very noisy with tables close together next to the dumb waiter delivering food from upstairs. The front room would be better for a large group. The potato soup for starters was plain. There were no vegetarian options except risotto and Mac and cheese — essentially a children’s menu option. The cocktail before dinner was great. My main course the plaice fish special was not edible– mainly skin and bones soaked in salt. Others in my group had hake and steak, which was much better. The mash potatoes beneath my plaice seemed old. I’m really disappointed about the fish, since this restaurant is associated with mcdonaghs, a fishmonger.

Went to Martine’s on a whim while on vacation in Galway. The place was packed, but we didn’t have to wait at all, and it was Friday night! Great selection of wine, and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect; social enough that we didn’t have to keep our voices down, but not rowdy. Will definitely return!

Nice menu selection with lots to choose from. They also offer a 2 or 3 course menu if u like. Tried the gigas oysters which were plump & briny. Also tried the mackerel appetizer which was tasty. We also had the mussels and place fish. All were fine while people watching this evening.

Another cozy haven for rain soaked travelers, or anyone looking for a delicious meal! My cousin and I sat at the gleaming wooden bar underneath rows of glittering wine glasses. The gracious host took our dripping umbrellas and coats and hung them up on a stand near the entry way. The bar tender and locals all were very convivial and engaging, and the food was outstanding. We opted for the three course dinner, a very good value. We enjoyed some complimentary bread and butter, and I chose to start off with a salad of fried goat cheese and cooked beets. For my entrée, I was very satisfied with the cod, served baked in an herb and butter sauce, mashed potato, baked gem lettuce(surprisingly good), and for dessert, we split a superb thin sliced apple tart with house made caramel ice cream.

A solid choice for lunch for two. The food tested amazing, despite the questionable choice of tomato-based sauce for the fish. The hake tempura was mana from heaven though. My wife had the crab, and it also was amazing. The winelist is well chosen and carafes not overpriced. The only complaint I have is that the meal was not really filling — though my wife had no such complaint. Chose somewhere else if you are starving. Perfect for a nice meal though.

A great place for lunch. From the hake tempura appetizer to the potted crab(served on a slate tray, no less), and excellent wine to boot, Martines delivers. Lovely service, warm décor, good music selection to top it all off. I’d definitely eat here again!

Great place to eat on the front patio, bar or one of their dining rooms. There wine list was very good not in the sense of ample choices, but what they offered was good. First night I had a nice 2009 Pomeroy. The second night I had an amazing 2004 Shiraz. I like the place so much I went back two nights in a row. Pâté starter was excellent. Definitely enough to share. Entrees were nice. First night crispy duck. Second night broiled salmon. Both good choices.

Excellent food! Got the thai mussels and ½ dozen oysters. Really fresh and amazing broth for the mussels. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. A really great dinner!
