Not much open in this sleepy town for dinner but this was a lucky find! Good food & atmosphere, service was great! I has marguerite pizza which wasn’t anything like what you are served in the states but very good & my friend had a monster burger which he gushed over so apparently good, great beers-this is Ireland right?

I went to Enniscrone for a rest but this place got my heart racing. Ms E and myself went for the 3 course early bird menu, it did not disappoint. Probably the most complete meal I’ve ever had. I feel I need to write some poetry so try encapsulate the experience. The brownies for dessert were mesmerising, like when you’ve got warm clean sheets on your bed, you’ve just showered and you jump in, delightful — it was an immeasurable moment.

I arrived into a hopping Ait Eile without a reservtion at 8.45pm(& thought — the new management must be doing something right) to be told that they were full other than 3 seats at the bar. Perfect, and all the better for people watching! I started by sampling their house red which was a lovely Malbec, what a great house offering! The pints of Guinness I’m told are very good here too but not really my thing! I have it on good authority that the Chicken Wings and Seafood Chowder to start are awesome but having to leave to meet friends after, we decided to go straight for mains — I was very tempted to get the Mezze Sharing plate for 2 as my main though actually, spotted one coming out in all it’s Hummus-y glory and it looked very appetising but settled for an actual main instead! All 3 mains that came to us were presented really well. Enniscrone is right on the seaside so seafood was the obvious way to go. My hake with prawn infused sauce dish on mash was delicious and a very generous portion with large juicy prawns in the sauce itself. I had a sneaky taste of the Cod and Chips with mint purée & the Salmon with Noodles & both were equally delicous.(The cod could have been slightly better cooked was the only feedback I heard). I hadn’t planned to have dessert but temptation got the better of me when I kept spotting black slates of loveliness passing me by throughout the evening! We were told that they’re all homemade, and taste amazing accordingly! Lemon Tarte was the perfect way to wrap up my meal and the Apple & Cinnemon Crumble(I had to taste) was rustically delicious too! A lovely impromptu meal with great attentative staff. I hope this place continues to do well. The busy pub upstairs is perfect for after dinner drinks too!
