I am currently sat in your coffee shop. On arrival i was pleasantly surprised, great atmosphere, lovely and clean. There was a great selection of cakes! I arrived at 4pm, made my order of a tea a nd a cake then sat down. I was kindly delivered my tea. By 4.20pm, operation shut down began. The lights on the fridges went off, all the cakes are starting to be taken down and the girl is cleaning down all the glass. I went up to her and asked what time you closed, in which the reply was 5pm. At 4.30pm a elderly couple walked in and were asking about the cakes, the girl cleaning the glass looked annoyed that they had come in but still served them. There were a group of mums and their babies, who I also over heard wondering were they trying to close up. I understand that your staff must be rushed off their feet all day and want to get the clean down done before 5 so they can get out quickly but as a result it has made your customers feel very uncomfortable and creates an unwelcome atmosphere.

Lovely coffee place in Dun Laoghaire. I believe this place is new in the area, because I haven’t seen this cafeteria before. Contrasting other cafeterias in the area, this one has a more modern style, different from the old, classical, cute coffee places at George’s street. It is very cozy inside — also plenty of space to seat. The sandwich windows looks beautiful! It seems all fresh from the same day. I went for the lunch special, sandwich + soup, 7,95. I added a latte and it was a little over 10 euros altogether. I intended to have only coffee and muffin but I could resist the sandwiches! They are generous with the sandwiches and it was really, really good. While there, I took my time to read the newspaper and use the wifi — just ask for the password.

Leonardo Café has become one of my regular lunch spots in Dun Laoghaire. So what’s the story?! They have a selection of ciabatta sandwiches that, although are pre made, look and taste like they are made fresh each day. Prices are € 5.50 take away or € 5.95 eat in. I’m not a big fan of places that have eat in/take out prices but even at € 5.95 these sandwiches are epic. Roughly the size of your head they’ll fill pretty much any void. From your standard ham & cheese to the club, I’ve not had one I didn’t like. They do a small breakfast for € 6 and also carry some cakes + pastries. I’d like to see some kind of sandwich coffee deal but other than that it’s spot on

I live local and dispite an abundance of coffee shops in dun laoghaire, i find most of them to be annoyingly hit & miss from one visit to the next. I think i’ll give 4 stars to leonardo because while i dont rate it as highly as my personal Dun laoghaire favourite of itsa bagel near the seafront, this place always maintains consistency and i’ve yet to be dissapointed. Think costa coffee with better sandwiches. If your feeling lucky and dont mind rolling the dice, you might try poppys or red onion nearby instead. After all, today could be your lucky day ;)

Dropped in here yesterday after going for a wander around Dun Laoghaire while looking for a new place for lunch. Stumbled upon Leonardo Café. Behind the counter is a large blackboard with the breakfast menu written on it. Unfortunately there is very little mentioned about what they do for lunch. What I did notice was that nearly everybody was either ordering a coffee and a slice of cake or pie or a pre-made ciabatta. I decided to opt for coffee and a chicken ciabatta with peppers, mayo and lettuce. Even though the ciabattas are pre made, you pay first and they give you a number so you can sit down and wait for your ciabatta to be delivered along with your coffee. When the ciabatta and coffee got delivered to my table about two minutes after ordering, the coffee mug had, what I will describe as «coffee skidmarks» on the inside of the mug, making it look dreadful. Tasted fine, looked bad. The ciabatta was warm which was nice. What was not so nice was that it was clearly kept warm for what must have been hours as the chicken was so dry that it tasted almost«dusty». The peppers had been sweated so much that they were limp, while their taste had faded into the background and made up the general blandness of this poor, tired ciabatta. Place looked the part and had a good few people in it. But I can’t help but think that these people were either, first timers here, like myself, or experienced Leonardo veterans who knew very well to avoid the pre-made ciabattas/sandwiches.

Very pleasant inside, I do like the open Scandinavian style interior(lots of light wood finishings). Very pleasant service. I found the menu a bit limited to be honest, no salads which is a pity especially during the summer months. Great pastry selection etc and there was plenty of folks taking their time over their coffee and it was great to see that that is encouraged. I had the sweet pepper soup which was good and satisfying even though I was really looking forward to a salad, but hey you can’t get your way all the time!

Very new and haven’t tried any cakes or tea, but they already won me over with their lovely honey-glazed ham/rocket/hummus sandwich. Yum!

This place is very new to Dun Laoghaire. I have to say I’m very impressed with its interior. Very clean modern design. At the moment it’s coffees and lunch but I was chatting to one of the staff and he said they’ll be doing tapas soon. A place to watch for or sure. I’ll do a more in depth review in the coming weeks.
