Zakura Noodle & Sushi

I love Zakura. There’s no other way to put it. It’s a small enough place, decorated in (what I assume to be) a traditional Japanese style, but they get quite a lot of people in.
Their lunch specials are fantastic. I always go for the € 8 chicken ramen. I believe it is the single greatest hangover cure in Dublin! They also have 2 bento boxes, cha han, and chicken katsu curry amongst other dishes on their lunch special menu.
When I come in here for dinner, it is very, very difficult for me to spend more than € 25, and even then, I leave feeling so full, I can barely move. The sushi is extremely fresh, the small dishes are delicious and the bigger plates are nicely varied.
Possibly the best thing is that you can bring your own beer or wine to have with dinner. The staff are always lovely, and have no problems with opening your beer, or bringing over an empty glass.

The sushi was really bad. I ordered the Nami and so many pieces were so tough that it was inedible. I threw half of my order away. One started added because I made a to go order and the hostess was courteous. The fish on the sushi was just really gross– tough and fishy smelling.

Love this place for lunch… During the week they offer a range of lunch time deals including my favourites Bento Box and Katsu Curry. The Bento Box is fantastic value, it comes with 2xsushi a small appetiser, a main course and soup. The bento box is only available during weekdays but the other lunch time deals are available on weekends too.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming, they are always quick at bringing out the food which is perfect for lunch break from work.

I came here twice while in Dublin so it had to be good. The interior is cozy and feels very Japanese with light wood everything. The food itself is cheap and yummy and the servers are friendly and attentive.
The sushi isn’t life changing — I live in SF so it’s hard to compare but it’s well priced and large portions. If you’re not a sushi fan the other food items are just as good like the chicken katsu curry!

Monday to Friday they have Bento boxes as lunch time specials and change them up every day, chicken, beef, fish! i haven’t had a bad one yet!
There sushi is also really nice, I usually go for the salmon and avocado sushi rolls, 8 pieces, but they can be quite small so if your pretty hungry I would recommend also get something else!
I have always found the service to be really quick, and the staff very friendly!

Very good value, authentic Japanese food in s really cool setting. Staff are attentive and friendly and there’s a great vibe around the place. If Wagamama floats your boat in terms of their menu but you’re not a fan of their westernised branding and watery bowls of soup then I’d recommend you try Zakura. The lunch bento box special is awesome and great value at € 8.99.

Great spot on one of Dublin’s best streets, Zakura is nicely laid out and feels very Japanese.
I brought my niece here for dinner, we got two bowls of ramen and some goyza to share. The chicken goyza were lovely, very tasty. I got seafood ramen and my niece got chicken ramen. The serving sizes were good, with lots of chicken and seafood in each. The ramen tasted great and there was loads of pak choi too which was great!
Service was excellent and very friendly. Including a beer the bill came to about € 38 I think.

Yummy food, yucky desserts. The sushi, tempura and gyoza were yum. The roll was way too large for an all-​in-​one-​bite as tradition dictates but that can be forgiven as the ingredients were fresh and the combinations worked well. Asian restaurants tend not to do so well when it comes to desserts but I do think they should try harder. My banoffee pie was pretty sad, all base, barely no toffee, one or two slices of banana and all the cream in all the land. The place itself is nice the staff are lovely. I’d definitely go back to Zakura but I’d skip dessert!

First visit here last week. As a new-​to-​veganism diner I was worried I’d feel really deprived but I got the veggie bento box and I wasn’t dissappointed. Really tasty and great value for money! Will definitely return.

Zakura does good food, that’s for sure, but unfortunately the service and the BYOB fee leaves a fair bit to be desired.
I met up with a friend there on Monday, she having made a booking for two in case the restaurant was chocca. When we arrived, the waitress lead us to the most awkward 2 person table in the restaurant beside a group of some very oiled (drunk), very loud men. It was next to impossible to hear each other, and the table also was awkwardly placed so I couldn’t rest my left foot, nor she her right foot. We eventually asked the waitress if we could move to one of the 4 empty 4 person tables in the restaurant. The waitress assured us she would check about our query, but promptly forgot about us. After about 10 minutes of waiting for her to return, we stopped her again and asked what the story was. Rather than admit she had utterly forgotten, she decided to lie and tell us the table was booked. Eventually we managed to get across to another 2 person table, right beside the 4 person one we had enquired about, and guess what… No one ever arrived and sat at that table. Not terribly impressed about being forgotten and then fibbed to.
My friend and I had also decided to opt for non alcoholic drinks and brought some lemonade. Upon paying the bill, it turned out we were charged FOUR EURO per bottle of fizzy drink. When I asked why we were being charged so much when we brought non booze (thus we should not be charged for their booze license, at least that’s how other places explain it to me. Or I’ve understood it to be…), we were told by another waitress that we were being charged 4 euro each to off set the charges of customers who ‘bring cola and lots of vodka’. This doesn’t make sense to me as she even accepted that we hadn’t drank alcohol, but insisted we should pay the 8 euro charge (2 bottles all together) as other customers bring actual liquor in.
The food was good, but I don’t think I’ll be back as the service was tepid and limp and they make it clear that they’d rather be elsewhere. (Not that they were mean, they just appeared so indifferent to their customers). It was also quite pricey for the whole thing if you factor in the rip off 8 euro charge for non booze. 4 sushi dishes (shared), the 8 euro ‘booze’ charge and a very small pot of green tea (and equally small peppermint tea), came to 46.90, which was a total rip off for the food and the expereicne.
I’d suggest going elsewhere, we both left feeling quite deflated by the atmosphere.

Restaurant asiatique situé dans la partie sud de Dublin. Le service est rapide et le menu plutôt bien rempli: nouilles, riz, sushis, ramen… J’ai prix des nouilles rempli de produit de la mer (calamar, poulpe, scampi…) c’était pas mauvais du tout.
Mes collègues avaient pris des ramen, ils avaient l’air très satisfaits !
Par chance on né ressort pas en sentant trop fort la cuisine asiatique, le personnel est agréable, idéal pour un lunch rapide.

Why have I not reviewed this place sooner… So sorry Sakura! You are worthy of a review and a great review at that. Love this small restaurant on Wexford Street, with working nearby I love popping here for lunch from their menu to the munch bento specials, this place is great value and the food is always great; tasty and flavoursome.
Staff are very quick, from seating us, taking order to the food arriving… It’s also so quick and efficient, great when you’re trying to eat in a restaurant within the 1 hour lunch timeframe.
It doesn’t exactly sing to you from the outside but fear not, pop on into this place and you’ll not regret it. Selection is great and they do BYOB which is awesome especially in this area of town.

Zakura is Musashi’s sister restaurant. The menus are very similar and the food is just as good.
They do a lunch deal during the day where some of their best dishes are reduced to about € 8. You can also get a really nice bento with a decent selection of food and sushi for about € 9.
The staff here are always lovely and polite and eager to please. They really set the standard for Japanese food in Dublin.

I go often there for lunch.
Sometime is a bit crowded but usually you can find easily a spot.
The lunch bento box and che veg one are usually very good. Nice mix and good in size.
Sushi is good and the Ramen is very tasty.

Sushi! I absolutely love Sushi and Sakura does not disappoint!
I am a relative regular there for lunch, and I always go for the Bento Box, just because I’m a «I’ll try a little bit of everything» kind of guy. But I’m also known to get a side of Sushi to go, and enjoy it during the afternoon in the office.
Their fish is fresh… I mean, twice now I’ve seen a guy walk into the restaurant holding a fish (yes, that fresh. And I’m usually there at 12 when they open, so I guess it was a late delivery).
I plan on going there for dinner and eventually trying one of their specialty dishes, but in the meantime, keep that Bento coming!

Great wee place, I’ve been in twice in the month since my first visit and will be back again come Friday for a bento box on my pre-​paddies half day!
I have not been in for dinner but have been for lunch and gotten take away also. It does a great value bento box with a nice selection of veggie or meat options also for well under a tenner. I’m guessing this is owned by the same people as Musashi as it is very very similar, down to the nice staff and BYOB policy. I’m going to have a full dinner here next time I’m heading to a gig in Whelans, as this place really is in an ideal location.

I really was quite surprised by Zakura in the end. From the outside it doesn’t look like it would be up to much. But it turned out to be a wonderful experience all together.
I had looked online at the menu before I went. I have a problem with doing that. I knew what I wanted even before i sat down haha. The prices were significantly lower than other sushis i have been to in Dublin, so I kinda assumed that the sushi quality would be low. I was defo wrong :)
I got 8 avo rolls and 4 veg fudomaki. The avocado was so fresh and ripe. Just how it should be and the vegetable fudomaki was a lovely mix of avo, asparagus, peppers, lettuce… lots of yummy goodness. My girls got a mix of ebi rolls, tofu steak, king prawn and avo, fried tofu sushi and edamame. Ther wasn’t a piece left. We all loved it as much as each other. I got a diet coke also and my meal came to € 13.50 an absoooo steal!!!
It’s not my fav sushi place around. There are defo places I’d prefer which are better quality and more upscale than Zakura. All these places are much more expensive tho.
Zakura is a perfect place for a casual after work bite with friends. Cheap and cheerful with delicious food. For more special occasions I would go a bit more upscale. I’ll be Back to Zakura tho for shooo :)

16 medium sushi rolls and two bowls of miso soup for only 24 euro!
The staff is friendly, the service is relatively quick and the ambiance is nice too. While the restaurant size is intimate, it could work for a small group too.
So pleased to have a really great sushi ‘go-​to’ on Camden!

Wer hätte das vermutet — eine der besten Ramen hab ich in Dublin gegessen — nämlich hier im Zakura. Heißt ja auf japanisch soviel wie Kirschblume und fällt mir daher schon mal positiv auf. Zu Mittag war der Laden bummvoll — ist ja auch ein gutes Zeichen — und wir bekamen gerade so ein Platzerl für 4 an einem der Tische gleich beim Eingang. Also von der Einrichtung her gibt es sicherlich spannendere Restaurants in Dublin, vom Essen her allerdings wird das schwer zu toppen sein zumindest was die Ramen angeht. Die war wirklich hervorragend. Genau richtig gefüllt mit unterschiedlichem frischen Gemüse und Nudeln. Geschmacklich eins A und wenn man sich nicht so ganz fit fühlt, die baut dich wieder auf!
Der Service war echt flott, die Preise voll im Durchschnitt und die Bentos der anderen haben auch gut ausgeschaut. Vor allem aber ging alles sehr schnell, was gerade für eine Mittagspause ideal ist. Wer also nur wenig Zeit eingeplant hat und trotzdem gerne was gutes will, ist hier genau richtig!

I have been back to this place a couple times because of the convenient location, but having had sushi from a few places in Dublin now, I can comfortably say that there is better sushi in the city (and for the same/​similar price).
The first time, I ordered the tuna sashimi (€ 6.50) and the California roll ($ 6.50), and was disappointed with both. The tuna came with 5 very thin slices, had no flavour and was quite chewy. The California roll was far too heavy-​handed with the mayo, and had too much rice. The second time, I had the nigiri combo, where it is chef’s choice of 7 pieces nigiri + 4 small pieces maki; it wasn’t much better. The fish wasn’t particularly fresh and the rice was overcooked and stodgy. (*side note: fresh fish should look shiny/​glossy, not matte. Compare the fish from my picture at J2 Sushi)
The interior of the restaurant is nice, and the service was lovely. I also noted that they allow you to BYOB for a mere € 4 corkage fee, which is pretty awesome. Maybe I’ll go again and try some of their non-​sushi offerings.

Really lovely spot. This is like a little Japanese oasis in the middle of that great run of eateries and drinkeries that is Georges /​Angier /​Camden.
It’s all decked out in bamboo and Japanese fabrics and dolls, and with nice soothing music in the background, and a great value and delicous menu (with BYO booze), it’s no wonder it’s so popular.
As it was lunchtime, I went for the vegetarian bento box. For 9 eurits, it was unbelievable value. There was a mountain of fried rice, the nicest miso soup I’ve ever had, a stack of maple syrup-​ed sweet potatoes, two pieces of avocado sushi, and some lightly stir-​fried green veggies.
It was so big, I actually couldn’t finish it. I also tried the vege dumplings which were really spot on.
As I said, lovely spot, I’ll defo be back!
