In comparison to Yo! on Clarendon, this branch does not meet the standard. It’s still one of my favourite places to eat in Dundrum as it’s cheap, I know the menu, and it’s just very convenient. The staff are very friendly, but in general the seats and tables tend to be sticky and the food is most definitely microwaved — it’s literally always soggy unfortunately! The pumpkin korroke is supposed to have a crispy coating, but it’s very much a big soggy mess here, and as one of my favourite dishes, I find it disappointing that I have to avoid it when I come to this branch!

Yo sushi isn’t the best quality sushi restaurant but it’s cheap & cheerful. It’s perfect for a quite bite to refuel and move on. I don’t think they use fresh avocado. Might be a paste — if it is avocado — it’s barely there. I

Literally the only good thing about Yo, is that they have a fun conveyor belt filled with colour coded sushi dishes. That is all!!! The sushi is poor poor quality. I just don’t get it. How can i make better tasting avocado rolls at home, and these«sushi chefs» do sucha bad job. I ordered 6 fresh avocado rolls. The appearance was deceiving that’s for sure. Yes they looked exact how they shud, even appetising, but NOO! Glupy, tasteless, rolls of ewwww. It’s very hard to get an avocado roll wrong, but congrats Yo. You guys managed it. I also had the katsu chicken roll. Also awful. 2 pieces of Overlooked chicken with a bitta lettuce and seaweed. Defo the worst 3.75 € I’ve ever spent. Steeeer clear of Yo! Waste of money, not particularly friendly staff and crappy sushi :(

Im such a big sushi lover, and walking into the shopping centre and seeing yo! sushi makes me want to get it every time. However i think Yo! sushi need to step up their game, it was as far as i can remember the first well known sushi restaurant i went to in Dublin and could get away with serving below average quality sushi because the competition was so small. Now that sushi has become a huge craze yo sushi just doesnt compare to the likes of michie, yamamori, or any sushi restaurant in the city centre. Some of it is still quite tasty but i think they need to up their standards and they could be an epic sushi stop. Ideally Dundrum needs a better sushi restaurant.

Accidentally found myself in Yo! on a Wednesday evening when the all-you-can-eat € 20 special was happening, and thought it was too good an offer to pass up. The selection on the belt was very salmon-heavy but that’s not a bad thing. About eight dishes in, a helpful waiter approached and mentioned to me that the all-you-can-eat special was on, so I gestured with slight embarrassment to the pile of empty dishes beside me with a ‘what did you think was going on?’ expression on my face. I milled into about 12 dishes in one sitting, it was pretty cool. The fish isn’t of great quality or super-fresh, but it’s grand, like. The staff are nice, the surroundings are light and airy, and it’s nice to be able to have your pick of the menu without worrying about breaking the bank.

For the € 10 it’s good value for money and pretty tasty food in general, plus you can always mix it up and get 3 completely different things for the same price

Went here today to grab a quick bit of lunch. I didn’t find there cold plates very interesting to I chose 3 hot plates. I went with the deal for 10 euro that includes a blue, orange an purple plate and either miso soup, water or green tea. Great value but average food. The service is ok, you don’t get any until u press a red button an even then it’s lacking in friendliness. It looses 1 star for customer service And 1 star for food. When I order hot noodles, I would expect hot and they were cold. Il will return but only for a quick bite.

Great sushi, could be a bit fresher sometimes as the bowls usually go around the belt for some time, but that can’t be helped really, you can ask the waiters to make a fresh one for you or if you pick off the menu it will be made fresh. Nice atmosphere for some lunch and shopping. Some people complain about people looking at them or being surrounded, but to be honest they are just insecure, I go here all the time and never cared if people look at you, get over it and enjoy your food! :)

Been to Yo in Dundrum a couple of times. We ordered drinks which we received after I was already eaten my way through two items from the belt. I choose the plum wine, at the suggestion of the server and I would advise anyone to stay the hell away from it. Its putrid! I have been drinking plum wine since I first started eating sushi in San Francisco almost 10 years ago and this is the furthest thing from plum wine I have tasted. As usual, and despite Hamachi being listed on their menus, neither they nor any of the yo sushi’s I have been to in recent times ever have it :(So I had some tuna sashimi and a couple of spicy tuna hand rolls. Now on the menu it says ‘chopped tuna’ WRONG again, I got(for the same price as the 5 thick pieces of sashimi) 2 tiny slivers of tuna wrapped in the roll. Thankfully I hadnt eaten all my sashimi so fixed the roll myself and made it worth the € 5 being charged for it! The seaweed salad and other items I had were great and admittedly the tuna was nice and fresh and sashimi a good portion. My dining partner had Yakisoba Chicken noodles, which were overcooked and clearly sitting in the hotbox they were taken out of for some time. Would I go back? Nope, not to this particular branch. But, I am delighted they have opened in Stansted Departures lounge and are a welcome change to grabbing a sandwich on the way through. The service is better and they have a nice glass of bubbles to wash it all down which is not the € 14 being charged for a snipe in Dundrum!

My very first Sushi experience… at first a bit hesitant, being totally new to this all ‘strange thing called Sushi’, I came here with a colleague of mine before shopping in Dundrum. The assortment was very nice although it took a bit of time to see what I wanted pass in front of me, and had to give up and ordered it in stead, which is also possible luckily. Just for that reason I was happy not to have taken the otherwise very nice deal(€ 20.- eat all you can from the belt). Their menu has different sized, and priced, dishes all nicely color coded, so you’ll know what to expect price-wise. Note: Mondays all dishes on the belt are € 3.-!

I have reviewed the Yo! on Clarendon St before — and I think I was a bit harsh, I was missing AYA and Yo was not up tp the mark. However, I took my family for a quick bite to Yo in Dundrum last weekend and despite the fact that you are eating in a very open dining area it was overall very pleasant and the foods and selection were perfect for our needs. The food is not overly cheap — but then sushi never is; the selection was not bad, the quality was OK and the staff were great. overall, it hit the spot, I shall not shun it so readily next time.

This sushi conveyor-belt experience is located pretty close to where I live. It should be far better than it is. Maybe the management read these reviews — so here goes. Please ask the chef to buy a Daikon grater. Daikon should not look like grated carrot when presented. It is a rough vegetable, and grating it like coleslaw simply isn’t satisfactory, particularly as your sister restaurant in Clarendon Street has one. It costs a few euro. Please stop giving us the same old excuses about being unable to cook most of your cooked food in the actual restaurant. Your tofu is soft and dry, while your Katsu is greasy and again contrasts sharply with Clarendon Street. Please don’t serve nigiri as luke-warm rice topped with ice cold sliced fish. It shows a supreme lack of care in the kitchen, and a disregard for both the food and the customer. I have to say that Clarendon Street is heaps better, and does what it says on the tin. Mind you, the clientelle seems to eat hot rice dishes almost exclusively, so probably this only affects those of us who eat sushi, nigiri, temaki and norimaki. I don’t think I’ll be back.

What can I say about this place? It’s really more of a dine and dash type of eatery. Yeah, it’s very exposed as people look down on you when they’re on the escalators and the food is on a conveyor belt so you just grab what you want and pay for it later. You wouldn’t want to have a huge appetite as you might end up paying a lot for it later! What I had was quiet nice(3 dishes of well, sushi) but because of the over exposure, I wouldn’t be tempted to go back again. The staff weren’t helpful at all on that occasion. Was I meant to wait to be seated? Well the sign said I did but nobody came over to show me a seat, so I had to go over and ask them after standing there for at least 5 mins. No staff came near me at all the entire time I sat for my meal. I didn’t even get a glass to pour water into from the taps on hand. Was I meant to ask? I probably could have walked off without anyone noticing only for I’m a good honest person!

Let me preface this by saying that I actually like the Yo! Sushi on Clarendon street. Dundrum, on the other hand, is another story. Situated right in the middle of the busy ground floor of the shopping centre, it’s not exactly a relaxing dining experience, however they do have a fantastic«Blue Plate Monday» special — all plates on the belt are € 3 — which is why I have made my way down to the conveyor belt on multiple occassions. While the sushi and the special are briefly satisfying, there are a few things that reliably ruin the experience every time I visit. The concept of Yo! Sushi is a conveyor belt that winds its way through a sea of stools, allowing the customers to see the food first and choose for themselves what looks good. This is a fantastic idea on principle, but unless you sit down during a rush period, the selection is poor, and fresh sushi is not put on the belt until the old sushi is taken away, leaving customers staring at the same piece of salmon sashimi as it makes its rounds again and again and again. The set up is convenient — there is soy sauce and wasabi for every seat at the belt, napkins, menus, and a call button for staff in case you need anything. There are also dispensers of water(still and sparkling) and cups for you to help yourself. Oh… except(and NO one tells you this) there is a € 1 charge for the water. I have overheard many an irate customer complaining about the extra charge on their bill, not realizing that the water sitting right in front of them costs extra. It would be nice for the waiters to explain this, as all of the other utensils and condiments in front of you are free to use. Sneaky sneaky. I also do not believe the food to be the same quality as the city centre location. My favourite hot item is the Pumpkin Korroke. In the city centre, this is a breaded and fried butternut squash dumpling. In Dundrum, it is microwaved from frozen, forming a soggy — often still frozen in the middle — lump in the middle of the plate. I’m not actually sure why I keep ordering it. It hurts me to say it, because I really want to love this location. I really, really do! But I won’t be going here anymore. The Blue Plate special isn’t worth the disappointment. If you really want the conveyor belt experience, go to the Yo! Sushi on Clarendon street… it’s night and day.

Sorry to be a «negitive nelly» [hey my mom says im cool] but i just dislike this place. From 2 perspectives… A. as a customer: If you don’t get a booth you are shoved on the high stools where your conversation is directed not at your companion but at the incessantly rotating belt with the revolving lump of fish you didnt want 20 minutes ago. The three booths make the experience bearable. HOWEVER even at that, i’m talking disgusting quality chicken when i get it [not the biggest fish fan]. B. As a passer by: Theres no avoiding having to stare at the place while going up/down the escalators. I have seen enought ass cracks hanging off those high stools to last a lifetime. So in summary, i’m not a fan [in case you were confused].

This is not the place to sit down for a celebratory sushi dinner. It’s in the middle of a shopping mall, located under an escalator. And shoppers tend to stare. The deal here is simple. It’s a train-style buffet. Plates with various different small dishes pass you on a conveyer belt and you pick those that look appealing. That way you can try various different courses, and eat just until you get full or your wallet is empty. These kind of places are popular around the world. Serving Japanese dishes on a conveyor belt was invented by a man named Yoshiaki Shiraishi who developed the idea after a visit to an Asahi brewery. I read that his next brilliant idea was to offer sushi served by robots(robotic sushi!) but that has yet to be executed, and as Shiraishi is deceased, some other businessmen will need to bring the innovation to Dublin. Little scary, but could be interesting?!? But back to YO! Sushi. The place offers Western take on Japanese-style specialities, both raw and cooked. There’s nothing authentic about it, the food looks a bit machine-made but it actually is pretty good.

I still haven’t made my mind up about yo sushi. Authentic sushi it is not… tasty food and kind of a novelty atmosphere? Yes. I guess it’s what you would call fast food sushi. You basically sit on high stools as little differently coloured bowls spin around on a little conveyor belt. The colour corresponds with a certain price — they vary between about € 4 and € 7. Cheap, you might think, but they add up soon enough! You can also order the hot dishes like noodles and katsu curry which the waiters/waitresses will bring to you. The food is good, but not great.

If you’re a newcomer to sushi you’ll be impressed by the flavours and textures at Yo! If you’re a sushi aficionado though, you’ll immediately recognise it as an inoffensive stopgap until you really get a fix(which in Dublin is a tough ask). Yo!‘s main selling point is the novelty of the ‘train’ — you sit at a stool and the dishes come past you on a mini conveyor so you take what you want. Prices vary per dish, from about € 3 to € 7, identified by the colour of the plate. There’s also a menu so you can order your favourite dish freshly made. After all, the key to good sushi is freshness, and after a few laps around the conveyor some of the less popular dishes, especially the warm ones, look decidedly mucky and tepid. For a quick, reliable bite, Yo! is fine. It would also be a great place for a first date, because the novelty value will fill any awkward silences. Be careful though — those little dishes can soon add up into a wallet-withering experience!
