Great little spot on O’Connell street, where we went for a long lunch during the week. They have a great lunch menu which is excellent value and so much food! Everything is made to order, so don’t rush. The staff were super friendly, accommodating(as I really coudlnt decide on what I wanted!) Only thing to bear in mind, they only use cards for anything over € 20 so bring cash!

The sashimi was sliced far too thin, the rice was kept too warm and became over-cooked.

I love to eat here always, love the staffs they’re very friendly and very nice to everyone. I always come here with my friend. We love the food here. We always order the chicken katsu curry. It’s different from other coz there curry have tiny bits of some beef that is so tender that you can’t even noticed it unless if you check it well. And it taste good and it’s perfect! ^_^ would always love to come back here.

My boyfriend and I had the sashimi platter, the platano salmon and the rainbow norimaki specials. The three of them were great! The fish was fresh, the rolls were varied and the presentation was on point! We´ll be back soon

Perfect place with good food. The staff is super nice and I was here already a few times, the place never disappoints. Sushi is delicious and plum wine is great. Never crowded, there is always a nice atmosphere inside the place. Will be definitely coming back again!

I’m a sashimi guy myself and have been here a few times. Décor is nice, food is of good quality(I only ordered sashimi) and staff is polite and attentive. Also a nice view of the street while you dine. As other’s have noted — this restaurant is easy to miss as it’s on the second floor with just a door and a stairwell. They do have a sign out on the sidewalk so keep an eye out for that!

I came here with my Japanese friend for lunch one day and we really enjoyed it! The bento boxes are such good value costing between 9~12 euro and are quite filling. I love sashimi and I have eaten it a lot of places as well as Japan, and I found the sashimi pretty good. The atmosphere was nice and bright, the restaurant itself was very clean and the staff were very friendly. On the menu they had a lot of interesting stuff from gyoza to tuna kimchi soup which I’ve never heard off, as well as ramen, udon and teriyaki items so I would they have a good variety. The staff are very friendly, the service was good and they have free wifi! My only complaint was probably the location: up a set of stairs in the middle of O’Connell street so I’d say it’s one of those places that you should probably try before making judgements based on it’s very touristy exterior. Also, my Japanese friend said she really liked it too, so it must be good!

Felt adventurous, and wanted to try another japanese than my usual yamamori/kokoro. Fujiyama possibly has one of the worst locations ever, second floor on O’Connel street. I doubt many locals would go here, and it’s more of a tourist trap. I was pleasantly surprised though. Clean, basic interior. Friendly service. A broad menu. They have several bento boxes on offer(€ 12,50 during lunch). I went for one with roasted duck. YUMMMMM! It came with sushi rolls, gyoza, miso soup, salad, rice and some cut fresh fruit. cute! The tray it came into was kind of Alcatraz style. But other than that loved it!

If you’re not a local, I’d save your Japanese food craving for your favorite Japanese restaurant wherever you came from. It’s okay, but the waiter and cashier guy who were there the night we were spoke mandarin with each other so I don’t know how«Japanese» it is. The accent sounded like they were from the south east area of China, maybe taiwan, meaning that they don’t have that northern China/Beijing, curled tongue accent. Nice place, clean, nice relaxing atmosphere. Moving on! My husband and I got there around 8 on a Sunday night, there was one other family there so not too busy. He got a beef over rice dish(forgot the name sorry) and I got a chili ramen with beef. Our meals were good, but not worth 14.5 or so euro… His beef over rice dish had good flavor and texture, the onions and sauce made it savory and sweet, rice had good mouth feel, all good! I’m sure his miso soup was fine, but the salad dressing that the salad came with has a strong wasabi taste and feel so if you don’t like that just be careful when sampling. My ramen was good, came with a good amount of meat, a whole boiled egg cut in half, bean sprouts, a giant square of seaweed and maybe some bamboo shoots? The noodles were good. I love noodles, and I really liked these. They tasted and felt fresh, not like some ramen noodles that feel kinda tough. The soup is pretty spicy, maybe a 3 – 4 on a scale of 5, but it depends on your tolerance. I’m pretty tolerant but not crazy tolerant like eating atomically hot hot wings comfortably. I wasn’t sure how to eat the giant seaweed so I just ate it at the very end. I love seaweed in my ramen so it was good, but it would’ve been better if it could’ve been evenly dispersed through my meal. Also wish there were more noodles… In sum, if you’re not a local, and you know of better options where you’re from, I’d skip this one for money’s sake and try something else. If you ARE a local, it might be worth trying, maybe on a special occasion!

Went here with a couple of buddies for lunch. I had yaki udon, which was a really tasty and fresh noodle dish. The other two had bentos, sushi looked great and they enjoyed it. Staff were very nice and the table by the window gave us a good view out over O’Connell St. Will be returning

Really great food, so I’m a bit surprised to be giving it such a low review. The problem was waiting over 30 minutes for the food, while customers that arrived after us came, ate, and left. Basically, the waitress forgot we had ordered anything. The lesson learned for us was DONT sit in the romantic corner spot. Do come and enjoy the food, but don’t feel rude about waving down the staff if you’ve been waiting a while.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My friend had sushi which wasn’t the nicest but ok. I choose the meal box(bento box or something like that) and it was lovely, a lot of food, so you get the chance to try a bit of everything and for a very reasonable price. We will be back soon :)

If you’re looking for sushi from a real Japanese sushi chef look no further! As John(I think that was his name) pointed out his colleague is the real deal. The sushi is probably the best in town, always fresh and with rice cooked to perfection(went there twice so far:) I tried their Chicken Katsu, Gyoza, noodles etc all very tasty. Staff is super friendly and willing to tell you their story and what they’re about. Plus you get a nice view of O’Connell street from their second floor restaurant #jussayin

I didn’t think my stay in Dublin would include some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, especially when we just walked in off the street not really intending to make sushi one of our last irish vacation meals. But this place is a real gem. As someone else pointed out, look up, look wayyyy up or you’ll walk right past it, as both it and the sign are located on the second floor. My daughter is an exclusive California Roll aficionado and Fujiayama did not disappoint. However, by the end of the dinner she was sharing my Salmon Sashimi with equal enthusiasm. I also had the Salmon with Avocado and Spicy Tuna Rolls. All were excellent. Prices look high but the rolls are larger than North American standards. Service is also prompt and friendly. If you’ve had your share of deep fried fish or blood pudding during your visit to Dublin, try Fujiyama for a great alternative.

What a pleasant surprise! First time meal here tonight, and it was just what the doctor ordered: crispy, fresh-made gyoza, comforting ramen with tender, juicy pork, and fresh sashimi,(which included the best sea bass I’ve had in Dublin), all accompanied by a good bottle of rosé. If you want a reliable, quality, authentic Japanese experience, look no further!

Altogether a very nice place to eat. We had the tonkatsu ramen, miso soup, sashimi platter, and chicken gyoza, with their only rosé. The ramen and the fish sashimi were amazing — better than all of Dublin competition — but they technically lose the squid and octopus sashimi battle to j-2 sushi(in j-2 one has to order that off-menu). The gyoza was to die for. Amazingly fast service, got the check in less than 30 seconds. Ambient — quiet jazz music, panoramic look of O’Connell street, marble tables. Very nice.

This new Japanese restaurant is well located in the City Centre of Dublin. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere had class yet comfort to it which I like. The food was great except for the Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese. The cream cheese was a bit too much that it overpowered the salmon. For more photos and my full review please visit:

You can almost walk right by the restaurant without even knowing its there unless you’re looking for it, but you will be very pleasantly surprised when you make it upstairs. It opens into a small venue sushi restaurant that has all that class and grace of an authentic Japanese culture. The style is very elegant from everything from the table to the restrooms. The staff is incredibly friendly and very attentive. Even at the busy times. The food is done in a very traditional Japanese style and you have a very large menu to choose from. If you at all enjoy sushi, please, please go by this restaurant! You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll have a great view of O’Connell St and free Wi-Fi.
