I knew I was at the right location when I met groups of twos and threes standing around the footpath chomping on crisp sandwiches. The ground was littered with crisp crumbs too. I was at the right place. The queue ended just inside the door, but it moved quickly. Not that you needed it too. I was taking everything in. The merchandise. Tees, cuddly Mr Tayto toys, key rings and books. There was more besides. It was very Tayto and very Irish. Excellent. Further in, the queue met a table that had ready made crisp sandwiches in paper bags. Pre made they may be, but literally just made. There was cheese and onion, salt and vinegar, prawn cocktail and smokey bacon sandwiches. In fact the smokey bacon had sold out bit more were being made down stairs and would be up in 3 mins. Each are 2EUR, with 1EUR going to charidee(The Simon Community). Good stuff, a very worthy cause. My cheese and onion sandwich was excellent. Just how a good crisp sandwich should be. It was a bit awkward eating outside, but I won’t hold that against them. Fairplay Tayto, they’ve really expanded on the mere crisp business model. And now they’re sharing their spoils while keeping it truly Irish. Open for ten days, from the 5th to 15th of March, you need to get here quick. But to be fair, I can see it staying open longer.
