Avoid Sugar Cubed at all costs, if you have thick hair. I went to Sugar Cubed to refresh my bob, which had grown way too long. I explained my hairdresser that I have thick hair(both in volume and in strand thickness) which has a bit of a kink to it as well. I showed her photos of myself with a bob at the exact same length I wanted it to be. Long story short, I ended up looking like a village idiot. It was honestly the worst haircut of my life I contacted Brown Sugar to complain as my hair made me look seriously hideous. They offered to correct my cut free of charge, which was very kind of them. I went there and got the correction, which looked OK at the time. But 2 hours later, it reverted back to its horrible state. Their styling didn’t even stick for a day! Please note that I have thick hair which easily hold a style. To be honest, it is not the worst cut of my life anymore. But the Brown Sugar correction did not really correct it — now this cut is at the top 3 of the worst cuts of my life. It went from extremely horrendous to extremely bad. I knew that I was taking a risk by going to Sugar Cubed(I misjudged how big of a risk that was), but you would expect that Brown Sugar, which is supposedly one of the top salons in Dublin, would be able to correct a bob cut. Apparently not. Thank you Sugar Cubed and Brown Sugar for turning me into a village idiot! Thanks for ruining my hair! Please make your stylists learn to cut hair before introducing them to public –___–

The previous outstanding reviews made me book an appointment at Sugar Cubed. I rang 2 weeks in advance and asked whether there’s a discount for students. I was told there was but when I showed up there it turned out that the discount doesn’t apply in December. Not cool, he could’ve told me that on the phone. The salon was very empty when I got there so I was seen to right away. I explained what I wanted and showed the stylist a picture of my hair after the last cut which I was happy with. For some reason she said she can’t do much at the moment and I should grow my hair for 2 months and then come back again for a proper cut. It makes very little sense to me that the cut I had 6 weeks ago that is just a bit grown-out now cannot be achieved again until 2 months time?!? She did do some cutting and now I have layers in my bob which I didn’t really want but it’s not the worst cut I had. I’m still undecided whether I’d go back there, maybe to a different person. I was also offered coffee which I gladly accepted but never got. Meh!

I’ve been to many different salons around Dublin, including Brown Sugar, Toni & Guy, Petermark etc. and I like Sugar Cubed best. I was a regular Toni & Guy client until these guys opened and deciding to try them out since they looked and sounded very similar to Brown Sugar. I must say I was impressed! The staff are so friendly, and the stylists give you a proper consultation regarding the cut and colour you want, discussing what suits, what they can do etc. which is something rarely or most of the time not even given at most salons, especially large chains. Every time I go here, I’m always greeted very politely and my hair always comes out even better than I expected. The wash basins are great too with massage chairs! The salon isn’t all crowded and rushed, and getting an appointment isn’t too difficult which is another thing I like about it. I would describe it as Brown Sugar service for the young at affordable prices. Another handy feature is that you can request a booking online and choose who you want as a stylist, which I make use of quite often. Overall, I’m most satisfied with their excellent service and the consultations. The stylist I always request is Tiago, he does a great job with my hair every time!

In the past I always visited another salon on Clarendon, but one day I randomly popped into Sugar Cubed and I am so glad I did. They have a great vibe going at Sugar Cubed, very urban, modern, and hip– all the while professional. In the hair wash room the chairs lie flat, this was a first for me, it was so lovely and relaxing. The prices are reasonable and the experience is relaxing. Have had 2 stellar experiences at Sugar Cubed. The first was for a wash and dry. Amanda really took her time and my hair looked great for more than 3 days! Even in the manky weather the blowdry held up. A week later I called in for a cut. I asked for Amanda again and she did another spectacular job. I had never had fringe before and she did a great job. She is very precise and takes her time to create a really nice experience for her customers. I am so happy with my hair and my new look and very grateful to Amanda for being such a perfectionist. I would highly recommend visiting Sugar Cubed.
