We found this Starbucks just as I was about to expire from exhaustion. Yes it is a chain and yes it is a global business but there is comfort in going to a place, knowing what to order and getting exactly what you expected in return. That is about all that happened here.

Like any other Starbucks really, nothing crazy special about this one, well except maybe the view… As your sipping on your coffee or ehm, any of the other 79 varieties of drinks that they now do in coffee shops, you’ve got a perfect view of a living, breathing, buzzing and Grafton street. You can chill out and just aimlessly people watch. Observe the buskers who are conveniently positioned like 20 feet away from each other and enjoy the feeling of south side Dublin at its finest. Not the biggest Starbucks out there and feels a bit out of place, where its located, but it is occasionally possible to get a seat. Apart from the view, no major difference between this and any other Starbucks.

Just like any other Starbucks across the world. The lady serving the drinks was mixing them up though. I don’t see that too often. She made a extra Chocolate drink for someone that no one ordered and she gave it away to a lady and she put whip cream on my wifes drink when the cup stated no whip, so she just scrapped it off. Nice people though and good wifi. Other then that, it would have received a 4 star from me. Sorry.

Too Small for It’s Location This Starbucks is strategically placed on the top of BT2 for all those girls targeted by Brown Thomas. Although through globalisation its the same as every other Starbucks, its simply too small and too busy all day long. It closes fairly early too due to being on top of BT2. There is not enough seats, sofas, or even enough room to cope with the footfall. When I am in here I always find myself with my latte at the high chairs in the middle, waiting eagerly like a tiger to pounce on the sofas in the right hand corner of the shop as soon as the occupants start packing up. The best time of the day to visit here with a nice people-watching view of Grafton Street is in the morning time around 10 — 11 am when it’s much quieter. But you will always have the usual iBitches on their macs, iPads or iPhones just in for their hourly fix at Starbucks.

Popped in to a familiar place to get out of the cold. It’s a lovely Starbucks, small but well spaced out. Staff were nice, and theres a nice view on to Grafton Street. And the free wifi is *proper* free wifi– no passwords or codes, just select, wait a few seconds, and you’re connected. And, of course, at this time of year the Red Cups are available!

Yes it’s a Starbucks, and the fare is identical the world over. Critics complain that corporate-mandated homogeneity makes it sterile, but that also makes it predictable. And sometimes life is crazy enough without unpredictable coffee. From this store’s upstairs window you have a great view of the Grafton Street mob. I nursed my tall cup of acidic imported plant filtrate and reveled in my temporary reprieve from the bustle of city life.

Ok, most of us know what to expect in star bucks, but if we look only at the coffee, they do things pretty well. getting a cup of coffee in Dublin in the 80’s was a grim affair, typically a styrofoam cup an some Maxwell house stirred with hot water. I have been in this branch a couple of time and it sits in a nice location and is good for a quick stop off before getting the Luas. The espresso beans they sell are great for home grinder /machine setups and are not much more expensive than the brands in the local supermarket.

There aren’t many places where you can buy coffee late at night in Dublin. Sure, there are some amazing pubs in the city full of craic, but as the nights are long and the wind is bitter, sometimes you just want a coffee and a catch-up with friends. Butlers was closed, Bewleys was rammed with people queuing out of the doors and we thought all hope was gone — until the Starbucks signs blinked at us like a divine intervention from above BT2, that is. It was thankfully empty and offered the full range of drinks you would expect — after all, everyone has a favourite from Starbucks. I was tempted away from my usual chai latte by a saucy gingerbread latte — and I was a happy girl. It was a warm, spicy and not too sweet hug in a mug. I’ve seen it totally packed during the day, rammed with foot-sore shoppers. But at 7pm, it was a pleasant space, offering all the same people watching benefits on Grafton Street as Bewleys but with better rinks and a guaranteed seat.

I think when starbucks first struck dublin we seen it as the most amazing coffee shop ever, just because it was american, and when we go to America, we see it there. Then all of a sudden it appeared here. There is nothing wrong with starbucks, I admit at the beginning I was totally in awe by the cool american coffee shop, but i soon realised it was completly over priced in comparison to some much nicer, less crowded coffee shops. You can never get a seat and end up hiting into someone and up ending your coffee all over your self. Not my cup of tea, or well coffee. :)

Not to go into the economic and social dispicablity of the Starbucks school of franchise and fiscal bullying, but they must be doing something right if they can get us to pay between three and five euros for half a cup of milk and an eggcup of coffee. They’re selling image, and we’re buying it. Don’t bother staying in the decidedly uncomfortable and badly decorated ‘café’ area, you’ve paid top price for 15 minutes worth of trotting around with a white paper cup — use it.

I love starbucks and love all the coffee except espresso, too strong for my taste. There is a lovely café atmosphere, quite chic, just like other starbucks, staff do their job and not float around you interfering, families, friends, proffesionals, couples anyone can go starbucks. However what I find with starbucks is that they can be a little over priced, I mean I think they should reconsider prices but hey for a great coffee why not:)
