Ryan’s is definitely one of my favorite pubs in the city! Being on Camden street, it’s not too out-of-the-way and is perfectly central for those going out on Harcourt. What I love most about it is the unusual mix of both local regulars and pre-drinking university kids that you’re sure to encounter there. Additionally, the bartenders are extremely friendly and personable. I’ve never had a dull night at Ryan’s.

A beautiful bar with lots of space and a decent selection. Kind of sterile character wise but the staff and the people there made it a little nicer than it might have been. We were comfortable, good sports on tv, a good jukebox, and not too pricey. We liked it, but it had far more a feel of a bar than a pub.

Looking for a bit of a culchie feel in the city? Then this is the spot for you! It’s a proper country pub. The bartender was fantastic, having the banter with the regulars she was great craic. A Tipp woman she got absorbed in the hurling and left the bar to have a few beers with the auld men nursing their pints. Rocking back behind the bar every now and again to pull a pint! It got to the point that one of the regulars went behind the bar for her! She said playfully to me as she wiped done the table so the bartender could hear, «Aw you didn’t feckin come out for this did yah luv? The state of yer one!» «Aw would yah feck off!» I love that type of fun atmosphere in a pub and the Guinness is good!

For me Ryan’s stands out a bit from the other pubs on Camden Street, because it is so ordinary. You can get a great pint here and it’s quiet enough for a chat. The staff are friendly and I usually have my pints handed to me with a smile. Another brownie point is the fact that aforementioned pints tend to be about 50 cent cheaper than in other places on Camden Street. Not my first choice of pubs but also not too horrible.

Ryan’s is a perfectly ordinary little pub. Nothing fishy going on here, just clusters of friends hanging out having a relaxed evening drinking pints that won’t break the bank. There isn’t really much atmosphere, other than the place is clean and kind of Victorian in appearance. I don’t know, it’s just a place to have a drink and not much else. Which is all you want, sometimes, so it has merit as such.

There’s nothing really special about Ryans, which I suppose is what’s unique about it, certainly in a Camden Street context. No gimmicks, no messing, just a nice but unspectacular pub. Pints tend to be at the lower end of the Camden price range and of a pretty high standard. But it takes more than taps to make a pub.
