As I was walking by I noticed this small museum and decided to check it out. It is free and is worth passing through to learn about the history of taxation in Ireland. I learned something here so that made the visit worthwhile. There a few interesting items including a globe sculpture made entirely of old metal locks.

OK… some people haven’t quite gotten the message that museums have moved on beyond the«Cabinet of Curiosities» concept. What’s sad is that some have heard the news, and just don’t care. The Revenue Museum is a modern, well organized, streamlined, cabinet of curiousities. Every display is a static, albeit well designed, collection of relics with very well curated story line. There are several high-tech interactive stations that were all either off-line or so unengaging as to be meaningless. If you’re a fan of government agencies, this is probably a dynamic, innovative and engaging place to visit. If you are a normal adult who wants as little possible to do with taxes or bureaucracies, the primary value is as a place to duck out of the rain. As of this writing, it’s free… Bottom Line: the seven-year old that lives inside my head was getting really fidgety after the first 2 minutes.
