Nourish is an independently owned natural foods business specialising in organic whole-foods, natural remedies and natural skincare products. We stock large varieties of foods suitable for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, raw food and coeliac diets, which include frozen, chilled and fresh produce. We also stock a wide range of natural health care products including vitamin and mineral supplements and herbal remedies. Our natural beauty range includes natural skincare, haircare, bath and shower products and natural make-up. We also stock a number of household products such as chemical-free cleaners, devices for sprouting and juicing and organic soaps and candles.

History

Established in 1986.

Nourish is an independently owned, group of health stores with its base in Dublin, Ireland. Our first store opened in 1986 selling lots of natural food products to a small following of interested and loyal customers. Over the years the business expanded and with it our customers, our staff and our product mix.

While continually striving to offer our customers the best and most innovative products on the market via our 6 shops in Dublin, our online shop now provides us with the opportunity to offer our products to a much wider customer base.

We are believers in a sustainable world through sustainable agriculture, food production and a healthy lifestyle. Naturally our success would not exist without our customers and for that we are forever grateful. Thank You!

The shop was much smaller than I had expected it to be and products on the top shelves were impossible to reach for a small person like me. But they seem to offer a decent selection of herbal infusions, green teas, seeds, honeys and organic /vegan /gluten-free cosmetics. Some products were even cheaper than in similar shops in Germany although the general price level is rather high.

Excellent range and a decent loyalty card, however the customer service can often be quite lacking, with staff busy putting stock out several times and being irritated that people were asking them questions. Apart from that it’s a great little shop!

Decent selection of food items, supplements and «whatever-free» types of foods.
I was particularily chuffed last night when I went in and wanted to purchase a childrens version of Krill Oil. The only one they had was bundled with the adult version, but when I asked if they just had the childrens, they went and looked. They didn’t, so they offered to open the package and just sell me the childrens stuff for the price it would normally be. Yay! Most places just say «we don’t have it».

This store has a large selection for it’s size and it’s not cramped or pokey like a few other health-food shops I can think of. My favorite thing is that it has a great selection of good-for-you chocolate (cacao) bars. I also love that they have their own-brand of vitamins which is so much cheaper that the big name brands.

There are a lot of health food stores in Dublin, if you know where to find them, and they can all be good for different kinds of stock; it really depends on what you’re looking for. What I like about Nourish is its central location and its middle-of-the-road range of stock. You will get the fundamentals here. The value for money varies. Some products will be cheaper here; some products — particularly common vitamin supplements — it’s better to shop around for. They have a very good selection of Ecover products and they offer a refill service on some of them, including the laundry detergent, which is almost € 2 cheaper than buying a new bottle and also more environmentally friendly. I also like their organic nut butters and their range of seaweeds and misos.

My wife spends her time and money in this place. Some great ingredients, potions and concoctions here, but I think you could find a lot of it cheaper elsewhere (local fruit & veg shops, Dublin Co-Op near Cork st etc…). It’s still a better destination than your average chemist for vitamins etc and the staff seem to know their stuff. They have a loyalty scheme going which is useful, although there’s not a huge amount of value from it.

This store is pretty decent. You have to directly attract the attention of the sales help in order to get service. Otherwise, these girls in black outfits sail around the store, passing customers without a glance like ships in the night. However, once you get someone’s attention, yer one will smile and offer assistance.
In fact, the sales girls seem pretty knowledgeable, and will even recommend products that they don’t carry in the store. That’s cool. Nourish stocks a good selection of tea and a bunch of vitamins, however don’t expect things like St. John’s Wort or Kava Kava. Those things are illegal in the nanny state we call the EU, even though every Wal-Mart in America sells them.
What I like about this store is that they sell health care products without the earth-muffin nature-hippy attitude that other health food shops seem to have. You know what I mean, at some places you get this attitude like, if you’re not into colon cleansing and reiki chakra alignment, you’re not one of the Special People. Thankfully, they leave that attitude at the door, and when you want advice, the folks at Nourish simply give it to you without baggage attached.
If I could make one recommendation to the staff and/or managers: Wear badges so customers can identify you. The first – five or six times – I’ve been there, I was looking at these girls dressed in all-black, wondering, «Er… is she just a goth or does she actually work here?»

I don’t think I am designed for Irish weather/northern European weather. It’s not the snow or the cold or the wind, it’s the short evenings.
I get very blue around this time so I need to remind myself to up my vitamin B levels and overdose on ginseng to restore a bit more colour to my mental health.
The store had a great selection of vitamins and health food items. It took me a while to decipher where the vitamins I needed were…
Yet there were two members of staff having a great old chat beside me, they looked at me struggle through the bottles but yet they never felt the impulse to ask if I needed help = fail.
It’s a decent go to spot but they really should revise their costumer service.

The tell tale signs began to appear last night: sniffling, lethargy, a mild hazy feeling in my head. I reached for my Wellness Formula® («a powerful combination of herbs, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals») to discover that only five capsules remained in the bottle. During «imbalance» you’re meant to take six every three hours.
I did what I always do in times of minor crisis while on the road, I turned to Unilocal.Turns out, Nourish was nearby and open on a Sunday so I headed there (and actually found it thanks to directions from Unilocal for iPhone!)
While the employees there were not holistic gurus, after showing them my empty bottle of Wellness Formula® they were able to find me the closest available item in the store. I also picked up some zinc lozenges for good measure.
Nourish’s selection doesn’t come close to my beloved Whole Body in Manhattan, nor really any location of Whole Foods in terms of vitamins and the like. And in future I will always travel with plenty of my own holistic remedies but I’m glad this shop was here for me in a pinch.

Nourish has got a great selection of health foods, particularly interesting and abundant are the seed, and grain options and the refrigerated section. Nourish is one of the only places in Dublin where I’ve found a selection of fake meat beyond the standard faux-chicken patties. They sell everything from fish oil to quinoa to flax seeds to soy ice cream. I really want to buy everything in the store, from the personal care items to the organic chocolate, but it’s expensive. If you’re on a budget like I am it’s kind of sucky. I usually just get the things here I really like and cannot get anywhere else, like the aforementioned veggie-meat, but only once in a while as an indulgence (btw, in the states all of this stuff is affordable, even cheap).
Oh and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Don’t buy tofu at a health food store in Dublin. It’s so insanely overpriced, whoever purchases it should receive an «I’m with stupid» shirt to give to whoever they’re with. Go to an Asian market instead, and you’ll get the same exact thing for at least half the price.

As the other reviews suggest, this place is your basic health food store, with a pretty cheery exterior. I pop in here sometimes to grab some little bags of nuts or seeds and they have a great selection of green and black’s chocolate and ice cream.
Ice cream from a health store is absolutely excusable and guilt free. In my book anyway!

Just one word of advice: don’t go to Nourish if you have a McDonalds sundae in your hands.
You won’t be taken seriously. Trust me.
Otherwise a good, but typical health store. Large range of tofu (and tofu sausages — eww!)

Nourish are chain of Irish owned and operated Health food shops. This store on Wicklow street is a bit on the small side but features Nourish’s range of whole foods. Homeopathic goods, herbal remedies and the like.
They’re a little on the pricey side and i’m generally only in here to buy stuff like soy Milk, so not the most exciting of customers but like most health food shops if your allergic to pretty much anything or a coeliac you’ll probably find food here you can eat.
