Brasserie66 was closed so we ended up here. Service was good, food was ok. Duck confit tasty, steak and pomme frite. steak as chewy as it gets, beef cheeks, not as melt in your mouth as some so just so so. Happening place, crowded but wouldn’t recommend.

Had a casual wander about town on a balmy Thursday evening, hell bent on trying something new. First, there was a Moroccan restaurant that boasted ‘patella’ in their starters, a wondrous and quintessentially North African combination of sweet and savoury, then an endless stream of tapas joints, as though the notion had just been invented. I found myself drawn to a tried and tested favourite, L’Gueuleton, on Fade St for, what the hell, steak n chips. Mind you, this is a rib eye, packed with flavour. As a starter, I had the grilled asparagus and soft boiled egg, and although this was served with absolutely too much watercress and not enough asparagus, the egg did, very comfortably fit the description. The steak, cooked rare, to perfection, as the French can do, was substantial and juicy. My afters, an Armagnac and double espresso, were excellent, if grossly overpriced(a bottle of very good Armagnac from the Bas region) can be bought for € 35 in Dublin, with between 12 and 15 shots). With a half carafe of a Languedoc merlot/Cabernet blend and a fair wind, the total came to € 68. A whole lot, you might imagine, for one person but given the unobtrusive attention of my excellent waitress, well worth for a hungry waiter after a week of serving others.

I went here for Bruch recently on a Bank Holiday Monday. It was really amazing. The food was incredible, the service was great and we were able to sit outside on the terrace, which was really relaxing(also always nice to get a bit of fresh air). I would also recommend the Bellini’s to start your brunch off! :) I would highly recommend as a lovely brunch spot in the city centre! :)

Looking for a good and significant french restaurant? Here you are ! French dish, french ingredients, bistrot atmosphere… You’ll love it! I took the 10oz ribeye with onions purée and café de Paris butter. Was awsome! Big portion but also a great taste ! You also have a large selection of wine from France, spain, italy… We took Le Clos des Lys 2013 which is excellent even if it is not its best year. Service is great and the privé is not that high for the quality of your meal. I recommend it with no hesitation!

Delicious! Nice french style cuisine. Got the snails myself ! Only four stars because I asked for the steak to be blue(I mentioned to the waiter I like raw meat) but got it all bit overcooked for my taste. But really like the place will go again :-)

Expensive, but amazing food. A few vegetarian options, but they really were terrific. Staff is extremely polite and constantly took care of us with every course, despite the night being really really busy.

When you’re still thinking about the food for days after that’s usually a good sign right?! Big fan of this place, love the buzzy atmosphere and stripped back décor, lots of subtle little touches. Staff are super friendly and surprisingly patient when it’s really busy, saw one member of staff being surprisingly polite to a couple who were being a pair of eejits about a minor delay with their drinks. Now, the food. Where to start?! The menu is great, lots of choice, not so much though that you’re lost. We’d the burger and the brisket sandwich, both were so good. Great sauces, portion sizes and presentation. Chips were great too, always a bonus! Will definitely be back, looking forward to trying dinner!

Bad bad bad. Five of of ate here on a family night out. It had been about 18 months since some of us had been before, and we were looking forward to it. Last time out, food was really tasty and we had a great evening. This time, a sea change. No idea if the same folks are in charge. or whether they just had one of those«off» evenings(it was busy), but it was awful. Three things: 1. The Delay. We were served pretty quickly(good) and got our orders in. We were headed to another event afterwards, and so our plan was to have starters and mains, and then head off. We also ordered some wine and got stuck in to our conversation while waiting for the starters. Only three of us ordered starters. And they were — fine. Unremarkable, and just, fine. But so far, so good. Then we waited for our mains. And waited. And waited. We asked about them. They’re «on the way». And waited. It was an hour before the mains arrived(as we were planning to go on to another event, we were watching the time). Anyway — finally it arrived. Three Pork Belly mains, and two Beef Cheek mains, plus sides. 2. The Food. The food was not good. In particular, the Pork Belly dishes were plain awful. They were fatty, in a bad way, not a good way, as if the dish was not cooked properly. In addition, the beef cheek dishes had a similar vibe: not the melty been-in-the-oven-for-3-or-more-hours but instead somewhat tough and distinctly non-melty. The three Pork Belly dishes were travesty, The beef cheek dishes were edible but disappointing in the extreme. Wow — this was a surprise. 3. The Dealing With It. I had to feel for our waitress. We were now out of time, and had complained about the Pork Belly dishes. She talked to the kitchen. They offered to cook us more(we had no time). She apologised, but we got the feeling that she was under pressure due to this not being the only issue arising from the kitchen this same evening. When it came time to pay, the Pork Belly dishes were wiped off the bill. Fair play. But — there was no manager over, no explanation, no real«look, here’s what happened». We walked out disappointed, and pretty certain to never return.

We went here for our christmas office dinner. Everything was excellent. Wild game terrine for starter, maple glazed roast chicken with sausage meet and chestnut stuffing croquette for mains, and a delicious panna cotta with mulled wine poached pear. Really good service also.

I’ve been to L’Gueuleton several times and even though I like the food, there’s always something that bugs me. It can be the fact that the service is really disorganised, verging on unprofessional(example: you book as a group for 12 people, you confirm twice and when you show up, they tell you they got mixed up and thought it was 2 people). It can be the fact that certain things are not what they tell you they are: the current«banana tarte tatin» is NOT a tarte tatin but more a banana upside down cake. And the last time I asked for a decaf, it was NOT a decaf, if I am to believe my usual reaction to caffeine(increased heart rate and nauseous feeling after about 10 minutes). So… Okay brasserie type food but the service is a complete letdown. Kudos to the pastry chef however.

I used to be a regular here. Began having problems with some of the staff and service so I just stopped going. However I always enjoyed the food, especially the fish soup which I wish they would bring back! It is rustic french cooking and generally well executed. Things are good and service is friendlier again so I am fine with saying 4 stars. It is a very popular place and the good wait staff have remained which is a good sign. The atmosphere and interior has a good vibe and aesthetically I find it a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. Their wine list has never been great though and this is always a factor for me. It is limited and over priced for the quality. Still, a good spot.

Probably the nicest ale onus dinner I’ve ever had. Got the steak and veg, got the steak medium. When it arrived it was charred and crisp on the outside and when I cut into it, pink and juicy, mixed with the garlic butter it was perfect. The highlight though were the chilli green beans absolutely off the chart. Highly recommend this place.

I haven’t eaten in LGueuleton in a good few years. I was meeting a good friend last Tuesday and after looking at a few different places, I thought about LGueuleton! We were close by so we took a peek at the menu. The Table D’Hote menu was great– three courses for € 25. We took a window seat as it was quiet-it was early. We decided to have an apéritif– kir Royale and a pear Bellini– both delicious. We both chose the salad lyonnaise to start– mixed leaves with lardons, poached egg, Roquefort cheese and mixed leaves with a slice of garlic bread– delicious. My main was guinea fowl with a broth, black pudding and my friend had Toulouse sausages. We both really enjoyed the food. We couldn’t choose a wine so asked for a recommendation from the waiter. He suggested a wine special from the board which was a Rioja– very good it was too. Dessert was a flourless chocolate slice with raspberry sorbet– the sorbet was delicious. We had brandy and espresso to finish. The waiter was very relaxed and helpful. The service was excellent. It was quiet when we arrived but filled up. I would guess there were over forty people by the time we left around 9– it was buzzy! I enjoyed dinner a lot and I will be back soon. The food is excellent and the ambiance relaxing.

I’ve been hovering between a 2 or a 3 star review, but in the end, the mostly good service could not make up for the seriously disappointing food. I came in here with a couple of friends, at about 9pm last Thursday, and we took advantage of a Dine in Dublin offer they were running. 2 of us went for the French onion soup, which was grand, but not«authentic» as we were promised by many a review. I lived 2⁄3 months a year in France until I finished school, so have a damn good understanding of what is to be expected! It was tasty enough tho, but served at boiling point! The other starter to our table was a goats cheese salad, which my friend enjoyed. I ordered the only vegetarian main, risotto, and this is where things really fell down. It was gritty and had been cooked in what can only have been a bullion cube based stock CHEATERS! If I am being promised excellent food, I expect you to use good ingredients, it’s the only way to serve enjoyable meals. I ate less than half. Desert was incorrect when it came, I had ordered the chocolate tart, and was given crème caramel, but was so disappointed with the meal overall, I didn’t even bother to complain. It was meh. Obviously an inexperienced chef was on that day, as fellow foodies have had great experiences in here, but with so many other eateries to try, I won’t risk going back…

The bricks, rustic décor, and dark wooden furnitures makes the interior feel like a cross between a charming Parisian café and a cozy Provençal home. We landed in Dublin on a Saturday night, went straight to the heart of the city for dinner, and almost gave up after so many restaurants could not give us a table without an advance booking(it was the holiday season). Thank God we found L’Gueuleton, because that made for a perfect start to our Dublin trip. The restaurant was fully packed so they sat us at a table near the entrance, which got cold whenever people came in or went out the door, but the food and wine made up for it. We ordered the escargot, oysters with mignonette, and mussels and chorizo to share — all of which transports you to South of France by their gustatory perfection. For the main course, I had the pork chop. The meat did not fall off the skin easily, making it quite hard to cut since the skin is thick and tough. My friends ordered the steak and john dory, and they both raved about how flavorful and juicy their entrées were. We had their special Christmas pie which was nothing short of outstanding. I’ve only tried homemade Christmas pies before, which always varied, and this might have been the best one I’ve had so far. Wine by the glass was quite pricey as they were not the best, but I enjoyed my merlot nonetheless.

We came here for brunch and oh the food was as lovely as the interior. Loved the brick and rustic feel of the place. I got the sausage — a little salty for my taste — but huge portions and very flavourful. It usually comes with a fried egg but I asked to get mine scrambled(thank you for letting me make that switch!) — so I got a HUGE bowl of scrambled eggs(yay me!). My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich — it’s not the American style drenched in BBQ pulled pork which was a nice change but I think I’ve had better pulled pork(Whitefriar! Dillingers(when they had it) and Donnybrook Fair(I know) have some mean pulled pork sandwiches) Definitely want to come back for lunch or dinner. The food is fresh and AMAZING.
